The mediation, held in Kumasi, brought an end to months of legal tension between the two actors after Oboy Siki formally withdrew his earlier remarks and apologised to Yaw Dabo.

Oboy Siki admitted that his claims about Yaw Dabo were based on hearsay rather than verified facts. He rendered an unqualified apology and retracted all defamatory statements made against his colleague.

The case is expected to be formally closed at the Adum High Court.

The dispute stemmed from comments Oboy Siki made during an interview on GhPage TV, where he allegedly made several damaging claims about Yaw Dabo’s personal life and football management activities.

According to court documents, the allegations included claims that Dabo was incapable of impregnating a woman, lacked the capacity to marry, and did not own his football club. He was also described using other derogatory and demeaning language.

The remarks prompted Yaw Dabo to file a defamation suit at the Adum High Court in the Ashanti Region, seeking GH¢1million in damages for reputational harm.

The two actors made their initial court appearance in Kumasi after the suit was filed. Although Oboy Siki issued a public apology shortly after the controversy began and appealed for the matter to be dropped, legal proceedings continued amid concerns over his compliance with court processes.

His counsel later requested an out-of-court settlement, which the court granted, allowing both parties time to pursue an amicable resolution.

Neither party has disclosed whether any financial compensation formed part of the final settlement.

The case has since generated significant public interest within the Kumawood industry, as observers await its outcome.

The meeting focused on the work of the Dabo Soccer Academy, which has become one of Ghana’s most prominent youth football development initiatives.

Dabo, who also serves as a coach and administrator at the academy, briefed the minister on the academy’s progress, challenges, and long-term vision.

According to the minister, Dabo’s efforts represent “a powerful example of private initiative driving national development,” particularly in communities where young people lack access to structured sporting opportunities.

The minister commended the academy for extending its operations to children from orphanages and underprivileged communities, stressing that the Ministry welcomes such interventions and remains open to partnerships that advance youth development.

Dabo, for his part, expressed appreciation for the support and pledged to continue investing in young football talents while expanding access to education and mentorship.

He noted that the academy is committed to unearthing raw potential nationwide and positioning Ghanaian youth for global opportunities.

Phil, who arrived from the UK, was greeted at Kotoka International Airport by Yaw Dabo and his friend Don Little.

His visit aims to scout promising football talents for potential grooming in Europe.

Dabo, who has been instrumental in developing local talent through his soccer academy, expressed optimism about the benefits of Phil’s visit.

He noted that Ghana is home to some of the finest footballers, such as Mohammed Kudus and Thomas Partey, who began their careers through similar scouting opportunities.

This visit is part of Dabo’s broader initiative, for which he embarked on his recent European tour.

Yaw Dabo is aimed at creating pathways for young Ghanaian footballers to achieve professional success.

Yaw Dabo detailed that Phil has connections with top European clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal, broadening opportunities for players from his academy.

Phil’s last visit to Ghana was five to seven years ago, and Dabo is also keen on making him experience the rich Ghanaian culture during his stay.

Phil’s itinerary includes watching four matches in Accra, followed by games in Kumasi on July 6 and July 8, after which he makes his selections.

Don Little had a brush with the police after he knocked down a motor rider while transporting his sick friend to the hospital.

The police and some Ghanaians have attributed the incident to Don Little’s diminutive stature, arguing that he is unfit to drive.

However, Yaw Dabo also diminutive fired a salvo at critics noting that, the issue of size is irrelevant.

According to him, Don Little has over three years driving experience capable of driving long distances.

Having had the opportunity to be driven around by Don Little, Dabo vouched for his competence.

Dabo appealed to the public to stop the criticisms since unfortunate incident like an accident is part of life and can happen to anyone.

Yaw Dabo, renowned for his roles in Kumawood, treated his fans to a sneak peek of his on-set transformation by sharing some behind-the-scenes photos on his Instagram page.

In the pictures, the talented actor couldn’t help but make hilariously facial expressions. He sported a pair of trousers crafted from African print fabric and wrapped his upper body in another African print distinct in design in his pants.

Adding a touch of whimsy to his appearance, the CEO of the Yaw Dabo Soccer Academy donned a wild, kinky black wig, featuring a lengthy braided plait dangling down.

Dabo in an interview on Plus One TV, recounted a memorable incident that exemplified the academy’s commitment to discipline.

He narrated how one of the players had decided to undergo an eyebrow incision, a popular fashion trend, but the action was met with swift disciplinary measures.

However, after receiving guidance and counseling, the young player expressed deep regret for his actions.

The founder made it clear that at Dabo Soccer Academy, unruly haircuts and inappropriate dressing were strictly prohibited.

By implementing a dress code, the academy aimed to instill professionalism and respect among aspiring footballers, setting them on the right path both on and off the field.

Yaw Dabo’s emphasis on discipline and manners stems from his firm belief that these values are instrumental in shaping the character of young athletes.

Dabo has partnered with the World Sports Academy (WOSPAC) for his local soccer academy to build network for the young stars he is nurturing.

This is in fulfillment of her long-term goal to get partnership from lower division or notable teams for his U14, U15, U16, U17 and U18 players.

In an Instagram post where he made the announcement, Dabo revealed that the WOSPAC Director, Xavi Hidalgo would be in Ghana next month to familiarise with his team.

This is the first deal he has secured since his Spain tour which made headlines last month.

Among other things, he is appealing for a partnership deal with Real Madrid and football agent Jorge Mendes.

The academy owner has recently been on a tour in Europe as part of his efforts to build networks for his side in the football ecosystem.

Recent images seen of the comic actor have him at Borussia Dortmund where he was taken on a tour by former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo as he meets Jude Bellingham while he was also in the Netherlands to meet Ghana international Mohammed Kudus.

Next on his tour was Spain where he was in attendance during Real Madrid’s Champions League semifinal first-leg tie against Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu. Dabo went viral with the step after he was involved in Marca’s pre-match and post-match interviews where he talked about the game and how Madrid made light work of Erling Haaland.

He was then extended an invitation into the studios of the media house where he had an extensive conversation with Marca’s Javier Estepa, where he talked about his academy and having to partner with others to ensure its development.

“I have workers, coaches and caterers to support the football team. I have everybody. I came to Europe to find a solution to support my academy,” he told Marca.

“I have a U14, U15, U16, U17 and U18, so I want support and maybe from this interview I can get opportunities and maybe partnerships with Real Madrid, or other big teams.

“You have to start from somewhere. Maybe I get an opportunity from lower divisions, I’m okay with that.

“Or maybe Jorge Mendes. Jorge Mendes is doing a lot for children, so maybe he is listening to me and can come and help my academy.”

On his visit to the studios, Dabo was also taken through a question-and-answer session.

The young football administrator made mention of this during an interview with Marca TV.

According to him, he sees the Portugal superstar as a big inspiration to every child with a humble background.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is a very super player, an inspiration. He gives inspiration to every child that they can make it because he came from a poor family,” he told Marca.

In a video currently in circulation, Dabo was treated to a jolly ride inside Kudus’ luxury car where they cracked a few jokes.

Dabo poked fun at Kudus for being the centre of attraction for most Ghanaian ladies following his sterling performance during the World Cup.

Dabo shared snippet of their joyous meeting on social media and the video has garnered almost 1,000 views.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, he was seen dribbling some white children in Germany when he visited Dortmund FC.

After what seemed to be a fun day, Yaw Dabo was spotted playing football with U12 of a soccer academy.

Rocking his mini Dortmund jersey, he joined the professional players for their training session.

Yaw Dabo made Ghana proud when he dribbled some the players before making an assist which ended up in a goal.

He told KMJ on Prime Morning that though he admitted he erred with his statement, he did not say it to offend anybody. “The intention behind my statement was different from how it came out. That was not what I wanted to communicate so at the right time I will come to explain,” he said on Joy Prime.

Yaw Dabo noted that after receiving backlash for his comment, the President of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), called him and requested to apologise on his behalf.

“I was happy that FIPAG took that step. I have now realised that when you admit your mistakes the leadership is ready to throw their support behind you,” he noted.

In the letter signed by the President of FIPAG, James Aboagye, the association described Yaw’s comment as “very unsavory, offensive and insult[ing]”. They added that “such a behaviour or attitude is an affront to the film industry and should not be entertained and supported by any well-mannered person.”

Yaw Dabo had initially said in an interview that only lazy people spend more time to watch movies. “Where the world is going now, everything is about money. So anyone who will sit for an hour to watch a movie is a lazy person.”

He added that with the hard economic conditions, it is advisable for people to be more focused on their works than use their productive hours to watch movies.

The diminutive actor has been featured in movies such as ‘It’s All about Love’, ‘Megye Wo Girl’, ‘Awarie Ben Nie’, among others.

His comment did not sit well with patrons of the Kumawood industry who have called for his head.

In response, FIPAG, in a press statement said they side with the irate Ghanaians, adding that they find his statement “very unsavory, offensive and an insult”.

They hold the stance that such an attitude should not be tolerated by the industry and well-mannered persons.

Consequently, FIPAG rendered an unqualified apology to the general public on behalf of the Association, Film Industry, actors and all film producer.

The President of the Association, James Aboagye, pardoned Yaw Dabo for his blunder under the condition that he will never repeat such statements when next he is given the chance to speak on the industry.

The legendary football icon gave the young boys pointers on how to improve their game. Sammy Kuffour and Dabo went in hard on the boys as they tried to encourage them to do their maximum best.

Dabo, who has fallen in love with Islam, after witnessing the World Cup in Qatar, on Tuesday, paid a courtesy visit in the Chief Imam.

Unlike the many visitors who are received at the lobby, Yaw Dabo was welcomed inside the chambers of Sheik Sharubutu.

He was on his knees while the Imam said special blessings into his life in the presence of other Islamic clerics.

Popular Kumawood actor, Samuel Dabo, widely known as Yaw Dabo, has recounted how he came to the limelight in his acting career.

He said he was a member of his Junior High School cultural team where he gave off his best at Jumapo in Koforidua.

However, at a point in time, he became complacent and was not taking the extra-curricula activities serious.

“Because I felt I was good enough for every role given, at a point in time, they had to force me to act because I thought it was for the school,” he said.

He made the disclosure on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite show. He said but for his teacher and patron of the group, Teacher Igwe, he wouldn’t have made it.

“The teacher encouraged me over time and always cautioned me about what the future may behold,” he added.

Though he did not disclose the name of the production house, he acknowledged he earned his first role after he listened to his teacher’s advice and began to pick up.

His decision to set up a soccer academy in Kumasi to nurture football talents among the youth as a movie actor came as a surprise to many.

However, Kumawood actor, Yaw Dabo, in his recent interview has revealed what the source of inspiration was.

According to the comic actor born Samuel Dabo, it was his hope to become a footballer but those hopes were dashed during his days in Junior High School.

However, anytime tournaments were due, he was somehow sidelined in the selection.

“I was always placed as a substitute due to the stature of the players, I will be asked to jog on the park with assurances of calling me in but by the time I realise, it will be about two minutes for the match to end.

“So I realised that path was not going to help me so I had to stop,” he recounted.

Through the project christened ‘The Dabo Soccer Academy’, a good number of unemployed youth in Ghana will be engaged to explore opportunities to use their talent.

He told Nana Romeo on Accra100.5FM’s ‘Entertainment Capital’ on September 5, 2020 that the establishment of a soccer academy stems from his strong passion for football.

He also said it is his way of helping the youth who want to pursue a career in football.

Christened Dabo Soccer Academy, the diminutive actor noted that through the academy, a good number of the unemployed youth in Ghana will be engaged to explore opportunities to use their talent.

“We’ve realised that not every young person wants a white-collar job. Everyone has a talent and that is the little we can do,” he stated.

He disclosed that applicants will be housed in a facility based in Kumasi but the opportunities are open to all across the country.

Yaw Dabo, however, noted that due to the ban on contact sports as a result of COVID-19, activities have not begun in earnest, adding that the contributions of Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah and Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku have been instrumental.

He said at a tender age, he professed love for the curvaceous actress, but her current stature has made it impossible to pursue his dreams.

He said her physique and wealth do not correspond to his, and the earlier he forgets about her the better for him.

That notwithstanding, he sent a special love-filled birthday message to her as she turns 20.

He still insists he will always be a support system for the actress, and with mixed feelings of love and sorrow, he wished her well in her endeavors.

The actor displayed some weird dance moves after he announced he has been infected with what he described as the ‘Putuu’ virus.

The actor, in a video sighted on Instagram, disclosed he paid 100 euros and cannot leave anything to chance.

Though the workers assured him the warmers will soon be filled upon a confrontation, he just didn’t seem happy with the situation.

Even when being offered alternatives, he insisted he wanted beef which was not readily available.

Displeased Dabo switched from speaking English to ‘Twi’ to explain his situation better, adding he must eat to his satisfaction.

The ‘curvaceous girlfriend’ prayed for God’s blessing and love for “her love and bestie.”

She posted: You have always been there for me through thick and thin, you know me too well and always got my back. Happy birthday to you baby. May the good Lord pour His love and blessings on you. Stay blessed my love and bestie @samuel_dabo.

However, he says he can play any role given to him and his size should not be a hindrance.

“I can play any role given to me by any director but I am very choosy when it comes to accepting roles. There are certain roles I refuse for personal reasons but the fact of the matter is that I can play any role any tall person can play.

“We make movies to educate and entertain so I am very cautious about the kind of roles I play. Imagine me accepting certain roles which won’t go down well with children who are watching,” he told Graphic Showbiz recently.

Dabo, who has been in the movie industry for nine years, said the decision to go into acting was one he took on his own.

“I took my own decision to go into the industry. I didn’t allow my size to discourage me, neither did I allow anyone to discourage me. Even my mum discouraged me when I decided to go into movies but I was not perturbed,” he disclosed.

Sharing his thoughts on what it takes to survive in the movie industry, Dabo said, “Always tell yourself that you are unique in whatever field you find yourself in, it’s a learning process but you need to be humble. I had to take very meagre artiste fees at the beginning of my career but I didn’t give up and rather polished my talent.”

Dabo also spoke on the seeming dwindling fortunes of the movie industry, saying people were more fixated on English language movies than those from Kumawood.

“In that case, who will speak for those of us in Kumawood? The government should build a cinema for us in Kumasi like the National Theatre in Accra where producers can show their movies and reap from their toils; that will help the industry.

“The TV stations are not helping at all, they show a lot of foreign content at peak times. If the government should put in place a policy for them to show only Ghanaian movies, it will go a long way to help.

“Social distancing will not make it possible for us to shoot now because of the nature of our work. We usually act in close proximity to one another, hug, visit, etc. So I guess the industry will have to be on hold for now till the coronavirus pandemic is over,” he said.

Aside from acting, Dabo is also into football and he currently manages an Accra Hearts of Oak player called Daniel Barnieh Afriyie.

“I used to play football myself but my stature didn’t help me. I have plans of opening an academy after the pandemic, so corporate bodies and individuals who would want to sponsor me can come on board. I will very much appreciate their support,” he stated.

Dabo, who said he had also made some good money from TV commercials, called on corporate Ghana to give him more commercials as he was willing to charge reasonable fees.

Delving into relationships, Dabo revealed that he was single at the moment. “I used to date in the past but I am not at the moment because I am into ministry now doing kingdom business. That doesn’t allow me to do a thing like that,” he noted.

He concluded by urging people to be careful even as the lockdown put in place by the government over the coronavirus pandemic had been lifted.

“The lockdown has been lifted but let’s continue to follow the precautionary measures and stay safe. God loves Ghana but I don’t think He loves us more than He loved Job, but look at what he went through. God will certainly take us through these trying times, let’s just trust Him,” he said.

According to Yaw Dabo, as he is popularly known in the Ghanaian entertainment industry, his father abandoned the family after he had challenges with his job.

But, after many years his father came back to apologise and to seek his support.

In response, he said he would have shot his father dead if he could take the law into his own hands at the time.

“I am the first child of three children and it has taken the grace of God for us all to be successful after our father left us. I am able to provide for my mum despite how tough the movie industry has become and built a three-bedroom house for her,” he said.

Narrating his experience on Nhyira FM’s Obra Show, Yaw Dabo disclosed his father is now back seeking forgiveness.

“My mum recently called me seeking forgiveness and support for my father after he confessed his admiration of my hard work and talent in the movie industry. But, I asked myself, would he have looked for me or my siblings if he hadn’t seen me on TV?” he narrated.

Ghanaian actor, Samuel Nana Yaw Dabo popularly called Dabo has disclosed that he has never regretted being born a midget, a person of unusually short stature.

For most Lilliputians, their stature has become a public mockery but Yaw Dabo claimed he has never been mocked with his diminutive size.

In an interview with Delay, he disclosed that at age fifteen (15), he admitted being a midget and never bothered to find out or asked his mom why his stature is so different from his siblings.

According to him, being a short man has really opened doors and given him opportunities if he might have been tall, he wouldn’t.

“I’m funny so people never despised me because of my size. I never checked my structure when I was growing up but at age 15, I realized that I won’t grow tall again.” He told Delay

When asked if he was in a relationship with fellow actress, Vivian Okyere, the 19-year-old actor claimed his position as an Elder disallows him to have an amorous relationship with women.

The actor indicated that he became so close to Vivian Okyere after they both starred in the popular movie, ‘Megye Wo Girl’ but has since being very good friends with no strings attached as it has been alleged.

“I would one day get a lady who will love me just as am to marry. I’ve not really dated any lady but I’ve so many friends who are ladies. I’m now an ordained Elder at House of Grace church so fornicating or being in a relationship with a lady has never crossed my mind. I’m hoping to get married one day.

“Vivian Okyere was my co-actor in a popular movie called Megye Wo Girl but we’re not intimate as reported.”
