Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Titus Glover said he strongly disagrees with the government’s reported expenditure, insisting that an event held within the presidency should not have incurred such a high cost.

“I have a huge problem with it. I totally disagree with the government for saying that GH¢1.5 million was spent on the Independence Day celebration,” he stated.

He compared the current approach to that of the previous administration led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, which rotated the national celebration across different regions.

The former Tema East MP noted that celebrations were previously hosted in cities including Ho, Tamale, Kumasi, and Cape Coast. According to him, moving the event across regions allowed citizens nationwide to experience the celebration and promoted the rich culture and heritage of various parts of the country.

While acknowledging that organizing national events across multiple regions may incur costs, Titus Glover maintained that the benefits of cultural promotion and national inclusion make it worthwhile.

He therefore argued that decentralizing the Independence Day celebration is more beneficial than centralizing it in Accra, as it enables citizens from different regions to feel part of the national celebration while showcasing Ghana’s diverse cultural identity.

Titus Glover slams gov’t over raid on Moses Abor’s home https://www.adomonline.com/titus-glover-slams-govt-over-raid-on-moses-abors-home/ Mon, 08 Sep 2025 10:02:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2576077 Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, has condemned the Mahama-led administration following a police raid on the residence of former NPP Greater Accra Youth Organiser, Moses Abor.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr Glover described the incident as intimidation, questioning the intent of government’s much-touted “reset agenda.”

“Is Mahama’s reset agenda to scare Ghanaians? I don’t get it. A policeman climbed a wall into a house to raid Moses Abor’s home. That’s trespassing,” he fumed.

He cautioned that the government would be held responsible if anything happened to Mr Abor or NPP Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye.

Mr Glover further urged government to direct its efforts at solving pressing national security challenges rather than “harassing political opponents,” warning that such actions could destabilise the country.

The raid, which occurred on Sunday, September 7, 2025, saw about 16 armed officers storm Mr Abor’s residence in three Tundra vehicles and on motorbikes. Police claimed they acted on intelligence that Abronye was being harboured at the property.

Titus Glover labels galamsey under NDC as worst ever, calls for state of emergency https://www.adomonline.com/titus-glover-labels-galamsey-under-ndc-as-worst-ever-calls-for-state-of-emergency/ Mon, 25 Aug 2025 10:14:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2570683 Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, has described illegal mining (galamsey) activities under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration as the worst the country has ever witnessed.

According to him, the menace has led to the destruction of economic trees and serious environmental degradation. He has called for an immediate declaration of a state of emergency to curb the situation.

“The way galamsey is going on is worse under President John Mahama. Something needs to be done urgently. Our economic trees are being cut down by illegal miners,” Glover said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem.

Meanwhile, several operations are ongoing in the fight against illegal mining.

The Western Region recently recorded another success with the arrest of twelve suspected illegal miners and the destruction of twenty-five changfa machines in a joint operation conducted by the Western Regional Security Council.

Additionally, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested four soldiers for conducting illegal mining activities at Simpa Junction in the Tarkwa Nsuaem District of the Western Region.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Glover criticized the NDC for failing to follow through on key pledges—such as support for cocoa farmers, the 24-hour economy initiative, and the fight against illegal mining.

“They made so much noise about the 24-hour economy, but apart from launching it, what has been done? Cocoa farmers are still waiting for the support they promised. On galamsey, nothing has been done, and on top of that, they are bombarding us with new taxes,” he stated.

Glover also questioned the NDC’s handling of the anti-LGBTQ bill, accusing the party of creating “needless noise” without offering clarity on the matter.

He urged the NDC to “stop the PR” and focus on “resetting the country” by addressing the pressing needs of Ghanaians instead of staging publicity stunts.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Glover recalled that as a deputy ranking member on the Trade, Industry, and Tourism Committee, he and four other MPs were travelling from Tamale aboard an Antrak Air flight when disaster struck.

“About 20 minutes after take-off, the pilot announced there was an emergency and we were returning to the airport. From my seat, I could see the wing burning. Thankfully, the experienced pilot landed us safely, where fire service personnel were already on standby. We later discovered aviation fuel was leaking. It was only God who saved us,” he recounted.

Mr. Glover was reflecting on the dangers of air travel in light of the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

The ministers and their entourage were headed to Obuasi for the launch of the Responsible Co-operative Mining and Skills Development Programme when their aircraft went down in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Mr Glover questioned why Adom-Otchere was the only individual targeted in the ongoing investigation into a revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm.

“There is no money missing; they only mentioned a revenue shortfall. Why did they decide to pick only the board chairman?” he asked.

The outspoken MP also raised concerns about the bail conditions imposed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), alleging that the process is now being weaponised.

“It looks like some institutions of state, including the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), are now using bail as a weapon to suppress people,” he asserted.

According to him, the stringent bail conditions were politically motivated.

“Just because some people don’t like his broadcast and analysis, they want to suppress him. It’s unfair and unjust,” he added.

Mr Adom-Otchere was invited by the OSP over alleged irregularities in the awarding of a contract that reportedly lacked full board approval during his tenure. He was released from custody on August 2, 2025, after initially failing to meet the bail conditions.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Glover stressed that a sustainable resolution requires confronting the root causes, promoting forgiveness, and encouraging unity among the feuding factions.

“For the Bawku conflict to end will depend on how we manage the root causes, engage in honest dialogue, and encourage forgiveness. Many of the tribes involved have intermarried, so this conflict should not be allowed to escalate further,” he said.

He described the situation as a serious national security threat and backed the government’s decision to deploy military personnel to restore calm in the area.

However, Mr. Glover raised concerns about the 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew imposed on Nalerigu by the Ministry of the Interior, arguing that the directive disrupts the livelihoods of the mainly farming population.

He also cautioned political actors against using the crisis for partisan gain, referencing past comments by former President Mahama who allegedly blamed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for earlier clashes.

“We must be careful with our statements. National issues like this should not be politicized—we need to focus on finding a lasting solution,” he said.

His remarks follow heightened tensions in the area after two male students of Nalerigu Senior High School were shot and killed by unidentified gunmen on Saturday, July 26.

In response, the government on Sunday, July 27, began evacuating students from Bawku and Nalerigu while deploying military personnel to maintain law and order.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, the former Minister recounted incidents of violence during the 2024 general elections, alleging that police officers were rendered ineffective due to a lack of directive from the IGP.

“During the 2024 elections, there was widespread violence allegedly orchestrated by the NDC. As Regional Security Council chairman, I was told by officers at the regional command that they couldn’t intervene unless instructed by Dampare,” he claimed.

Titus-Glover added that the police’s inaction during key moments resulted in chaos, destruction of property, and heightened insecurity in several areas.

His remarks come at a time of renewed public concern over election-related violence, especially following recent disturbances at the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun.

‘A third term for Mahama will never happen’ – Titus Glover https://www.adomonline.com/a-third-term-for-mahama-will-never-happen-titus-glover/ Sat, 31 May 2025 06:19:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2540419 Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has dismissed any alleged prospects of President John Mahama seeking a third term in office, describing any such ambition as unconstitutional.

Speaking to JoyNews at the premises of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Mr Titus Glover accused President Mahama of orchestrating efforts to undermine the judiciary as a prelude to amending the constitution to extend his tenure.

“We want to assure President Mahama that he has been given the power to govern,” he said.

“But all the orchestration he is doing to get rid of the Chief Justice is a way of trying to amend the constitution. I have said it before, and I will repeat it: President Mahama’s third term will never happen.”

The former minister criticised the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for what he described as a campaign of vilification against the Chief Justice, pointing to a flood of public commentary on the charges levelled against her.

“Today, she has filed an affidavit, and all she is asking for is to let the public know what is happening. Is this too much to ask?” he questioned.

Mr Titus Glover labelled the entire situation as a “calculated attempt” by the president, his government, and the party to weaken judicial independence.

He recalled a statement allegedly made by President Mahama during his campaign, vowing to deal with the Chief Justice upon coming to power.

Titus Glover blames media for NPP’s defeat in Greater Accra region [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/titus-glover-blames-media-for-npps-defeat-in-greater-accra-region-audio/ Mon, 09 Dec 2024 10:23:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2481366 The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover has blamed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the region on the media.

According to him, the media through its reportage embarked on campaigns against the NPP, affecting their electoral gains.

The former Tema East Member of Parliament (MP) made these remarks in an interview on Adom FM/TV as part of post election analysis.

“I acknowledge one or two things accounted for the defeat. Most of the media stations are in Accra so it becomes worrying when some outlets decide to criticise everything. Some media houses did not help us at all.

“Two days to election, Joy FM was reporting about galamsey amidst fierce criticisms. Indirectly, they were campaigning against the government,” he stated.

However, he noted the NPP respects the will of Ghanaians and will not give up on its break the 8 agenda and will bounce back stronger.

The NPP before the just-ended election held 14 out of the total 34 seats, while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) holds 20.

The NPP Regional Chairman, Divine Agorhom was confident the party would reclaim all lost seats, setting a target of 21.

However, after the end of polls, the NPP suffered a setback, losing many of the seats it had.

Even though the Electoral Commission(EC) is yet to official declare the 2024 election results, the NDC claims to have won 30 out of the 32 seats.

The National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, at a press conference on Sunday, 8 December said the assertion is based on its internal collation of results from polling stations across the region.

He explained that, NDC polling agents had meticulously collected and submitted data, which the party believes demonstrates its dominance in the region.

Forgive Me – Titus Glover says after destroying vendor’s table at Flower Pot Interchange [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/forgive-me-titus-glover-says-after-destroying-vendors-table-at-flower-pot-interchange-listen/ Thu, 21 Nov 2024 11:12:01 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2474165 The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Titus Glover, has expressed remorse for destroying a banana seller’s table at the Flower Pot Interchange.

Mr. Glover admitted he went overboard and has asked for forgiveness.

On Wednesday, the Minister was seen in a viral video destroying the table set up by the banana seller, who had defied prior warnings not to sell under the interchange.

This followed Mr. Glover’s stern warning during the commissioning on Tuesday that no kiosks, containers, or unauthorized structures should be placed near the intersection.

His actions have drawn mixed reactions from the public.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the Minister expressed his willingness to replace the vendor’s table.

“Some people have commended me for the swift move, but others have criticized me, and I say I’m sorry. If the woman shows up, I won’t mind giving her money to buy a new table. However, she must move her business elsewhere and not at the interchange,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Glover has stated that further measures will be implemented to ensure compliance and prevent a recurrence of such activities around the interchange.

The former Tema East Member of Parliament (MP) has vowed that no business or hawking will be allowed around and under the Interchange.

Mr. Glover sounded this message of caution on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, following the commissioning on Tuesday.

This comes on the back of a viral video which captured the Minister dismantling tables and chairs set up by hawkers who had defied prior warnings.

“It is unfortunate and sad that people will decide to sell around this beautiful project undertaken by President Akufo-Addo to reduce traffic congestion.

“During the commissioning, I warned people against mounting kiosks, containers, unauthorized structures, or selling under the interchange, but it seems some people did not take it seriously,” he said.

Mr. Glover warned that such behavior will not be tolerated and he will not relent on his quest to maintain the integrity and aesthetics of the Interchange.

“Look at what Circle has become now, and this is how it started. If we don’t act swiftly, the situation will get out of hand,” he said.

The Minister further appealed to the general public to cooperate in safeguarding the facility for long-term use.

“I have charged the police to arrest anybody who goes to sell there and face the full rigor of the law,” he added.

The Spintex-Flower Pot Interchange includes a dual carriageway viaduct and multiple ramps.

It aims to alleviate traffic congestion in key areas such as Spintex, Cantonments, East Legon, and Tema.

“She is the second international diplomat after Kofi Annan, and I am proud to support her in representing Ghana and Africa on the global stage. I am confident that she will continue to make Ghana proud,” he said on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem.

Elected on October 25, Botchwey’s appointment followed a rigorous selection process, placing her among a select group of African leaders to hold the esteemed position.

“I am here to get a full briefing from the regional commander about the situation. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or loss of life so far.

“My prayer is that nothing of the sort occurs. I have urged the traditional council and other groups to promote unity. We will continue to engage with them and hope they will put an end to these disturbances, which have hindered Teshie’s development.

The Minister has also expressed readiness to meet any party who believes the demolition is illegal in court.

Mr Titus-Glover on Friday led the Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) for the demolition after declaring the area a security zone.

The action was in response to concerns by the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs about increasing encroachment by private developers.

However, the chief of Anum-Asamankese and principal member of the Odoi Kese family at Obosomase, Osabarimah Essah Kwasi Mensah Bediako III has criticised the Minister’s action amidst threats to sue him.

Reacting to the chief’s comment on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Monday, the Regional Minister who has been incensed by the comments said he is only protecting his heritage.

According to him, all parties since July 9, 2024, were asked to bring their documentations on the land before the demolition took place.

“If they want to go to court, I’m ready let’s all go to court but I am not a landguard. I am the Chairman of REGSEC, I’m not REGSEC and we went there together. We will also bring our lawyers to court. If they claim the land was for them, why were soldier guarding it?” he questioned.

We’ll install 25,000 street lights across Greater Accra soon – Titus-Glover https://www.adomonline.com/well-install-25000-street-lights-across-greater-accra-soon-titus-glover/ Wed, 07 Aug 2024 07:49:23 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2430126

The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council has announced plans to install 25,000 solar-powered street lights throughout the region.

Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover stated that, this initiative follows numerous complaints from motorists and residents about poor visibility on many roads at night.

Speaking at a regional town hall meeting, Mr. Titus-Glover explained that the installation of street lights is part of broader efforts to reduce crime in the area.

“Because criminals don’t like visibility, the government has supported the region to make sure we light up the entire region with some street lights. In phase one, 10,000 streetlights were distributed in 2022.

“20,000 in 2023 and in phase three, we are going to do 25,000. There is a process in place where a company wants to partner with the regional coordinating council to do a solar one on the Tema Motorway. They will do a pilot from Shiashie through the Airport to 37 to Accra Central.

“Then we look at the N1 all the way to Weija Gbawe. Then we come to Achimota, the Overhead, through the Forestry Commission, the Achimota Police Station, GIMPA and then we make a turn towards Fiesta Royale.”

Drain projects will end flooding – Titus-Glover https://www.adomonline.com/drain-projects-will-end-flooding-titus-glover/ Tue, 16 Jul 2024 19:38:06 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2422519 The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council has announced a collaboration with the Ministry of Works and Housing to construct larger drains and desilt existing ones to address flooding in the capital.

Recent downpours have already caused floods in parts of Accra, raising concerns about long-term solutions.

Speaking on the JoyNews AM show, Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus- Glover expressed confidence that these constructions, once completed, will permanently resolve the issue.

He emphasised the need for larger drains to manage significant volumes of rainwater and channel it directly into the Atlantic Ocean.

Mr. Glover mentioned that the previous week, he, along with Honourable Oppong Nkrumah, the Adabraka Mantse, and Hon. Zanetor, visited Asylum Down.

He noted that the ministry intends to reconstruct and expand the drain there to handle larger volumes of water.

“There are some areas around Kaneshie where we would be doing some of these projects all over the place. The worst of all is the western end.

“Any time it rains, vehicles cannot go or come because we have this silt sand; it is almost virtually on the road. If you don’t collect them on time, it makes the place so congested, and it becomes a security matter.

“Our duty is to make sure we supervise government projects, ensure that things are done, and that anytime the rain falls, we do not have any impact that is so negative in the lives of our people.”

He also expressed concern over poor lighting on major roads in the region and revealed plans to improve it.

Mr. Titus-Glover mentioned that he has requested data on all faulty traffic lights and explained that a company has offered to provide free solar lights equipped with cameras and Wi-Fi.

He said the company, in partnership with South African collaborators, wants to install the lights at no cost.

The Regional Minister added that, his Ministry plans to allow the company to advertise in exchange for lighting up key areas, starting with the Accra-Tema Motorway.

You are not being fair to the board – Titus Glover tells Organised Labour over SSNIT Hotel Sale https://www.adomonline.com/you-are-not-being-fair-to-the-board-titus-glover-tells-organised-labour-over-ssnit-hotel-sale/ Tue, 16 Jul 2024 08:04:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2422052 The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has said that Organised Labour is not being fair to the management and Board of Directors of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

He questioned what the board had done to warrant such actions from Organised Labour.

Mr. Titus-Glover’s comments were in response to Organised Labour’s decision to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the way forward after calling off their nationwide strike.

This meeting follows dramatic changes that occurred after the group declared a nationwide industrial action last Friday.

One of the key issues to be considered at the meeting is the fate of the management and Board of Directors of SSNIT, who are accused of playing roles in the aborted sale of its hotels.

SSNIT announced last Friday that it had terminated the process to sell 60 percent of its stake in four hotels, just hours after the prospective investor, Rock City Hotel, officially withdrew its proposal to buy a stake in the hotels.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Monday, Mr. Titus-Glover said the stance taken by Organised Labour is harsh.

“What has the board done? They should tell me one mistake the board has made. I don’t think they are being fair to the board. Now that they have left it, why the qualms?” he quizzed.

He appealed to Organised Labour to rescind their intended strike action.

Mr. Titus-Glover also criticized Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for misinforming the public about the issue.

Why I lost Tema East seat – Titus-Glover reveals https://www.adomonline.com/why-i-lost-tema-east-seat-titus-glover-reveals/ Mon, 15 Jul 2024 08:04:30 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2421924 The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has revealed that he was sabotaged by party members in the Tema East constituency during the 2020 elections.

The former New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament disclosed that the lack of support from his own party members led to his loss in the bid for another term in office.

Speaking at the campaign launch of Jefferson Kwamena Sackey, the Ablekuma Central NPP parliamentary candidate, Mr. Titus-Glover charged NPP members to eliminate divisiveness within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as they prepare for the upcoming December polls.

He stressed that,  internal unity is crucial for the party’s success.

Mr Titus-Glover pointed out that without togetherness and collective effort, the NPP’s goal to break the eight-year cycle in Ghana’s political history will not be realised.

He urged party members to focus on solidarity and collaboration to ensure victory in the forthcoming elections.

“I lost Tema East because my people did not support me, they sabotaged my campaign, resulting in my defeat to the NDC. We should eschew all forms of division as we prepare for the polls, we can’t be divided going into the election so let’s remain united,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Sackey is aiming to unseat the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dan Abdul-Latif in the upcoming December elections.

As part of a sanitation campaign launched by the Ga Traditional Council under the authority of Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Titus-Glover led his team to desilt gutters at Tema Station environs.

The sanitation campaign aims to enhance environmental hygiene in the region.

Clad in nose masks, boots and gloves, the Regional Minister went into the chocked gutter and used a shovel to clear accumulated waste.

This activity marked the third day of the campaign, following earlier cleanup exercises in Tema.

Titus-Glover called on the public to support the initiative to make Accra the cleanliness city in Ghana.

He also warned that residents found engaging in unsanitary practices after the exercise would be punished.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Honourable Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, sub-chiefs of Accra, and a special task force of Ga traditional warriors were part of the Ga Mantse’s team.

The exercise, which began in James Town in Ga Mashie on July 2, involved de-silting of choked gutters, sweeping major streets, and evacuating hundreds of tonnes of waste from various parts of the city.

The campaign is a collaborative effort between the Ga Traditional Council (GTC), the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC), the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources (MSWR), Zoomlion, and security agencies.

Speaking on the sidelines of the exercise, Honourable Titus Glover, intimated that the Ga Mantse was pleased with the turnout and was personally supervising the exercise to ensure everyone’s participation.

He assured that he will encourage residents and shop owners to participate in the initiative.

“While a few individuals were initially hesitant to join in, the Ga Mantse’s encouragement and leadership have brought them on board. The community is working together to clear the streets of filth and debris, with a goal of completing 80% of the tasks,” he stated.

He placed emphasis on proper waste disposal, and warned against indiscriminate dumping.

The Homowo Clean-up Exercise is a testament to the community’s determination to take ownership of their environment and create a cleaner, healthier space for all.

The exercise deployed various logistics, including pick-ups, waste management trucks, motorbikes, wheelbarrows, gloves, shovels, and others.
Some of the participants (shop owners, residents,) with rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows, gathered the refuse, while heavy-duty trucks collected the waste for proper disposal.

Other traditional areas benefiting from the exercise included Sempe and Gbese.

Security personnel ensured full participation and enforcement, while shops within the traditional areas were closed to allow for maximum participation from residents and traders.

The Mayor of Accra, Elizabeth Sackey, praised residents of Accra for their enthusiasm in participating in the initiative.

“A big thanks to the Ga Mantse for spearheading this effort. We hope this won’t be a nine-day wonder but will become a daily activity and a habit,” she expressed.

She assured that with the establishment of the sanitation court, she will empower her directors to monitor the environs and ensure that offenders are brought to book.

The Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Zoomlion, Madam Emma Adwoa-Appia Osei-Duah, stressed that the exercise will be sustained after the Homowo celebration. “Culturally, we believe that before every festival, the community cleanses itself to invite blessings. At Zoomlion, we are supporting this initiative with logistics and personnel. Our goal is to rid Accra, and Ghana at large, of filth,” she said.

The Public Relations and Corporate Affairs Manager at Zoomlion, Morgan Ernest Acquah, underscored the importance of proper waste disposal, encouraging residents to develop a habit of disposing of their refuse correctly, even after the exercise.

According to him, hoarding waste at home was not advisable, and added that measures had been put in place to sustain the clean-up effort.

Naa Koryoo’s detention was needless but… – Minister [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/naa-koryoos-detention-was-needless-but-minister-audio/ Mon, 10 Jun 2024 18:51:49 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2407346 The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover has described as needless, the arrest and detention of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Awutu Senya East Parliamentary candidate, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor.

According to him, the Police should have processed Naa Koryoo for court immediately if they had any evidence against her.

Naa Koryoo was held at the Cantonments Police Station on Friday, June 7, after being summoned, a move that sparked outrage among NDC supporters who later gathered at the premises demanding her release.

Reacting to the development on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, the former Tema East Member of Parliament (MP) said the tension caused by the NDC was unnecessary.

He stated that, the NDC should have allowed due process to work.

Mr Titus-Glover claimed a Policeman was injured as the NDC supporters pelted stones and vandalised some state properties.

He stated that, the NDC should be surcharged if the information he obtained was indeed true.

The former Tema East Member of Parliament (MP) accused the duo of destroying their party.

Mr Titus-Glover made these remarks on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Monday.

He stated that, the two NDC stalwarts are demonstrating desperation for power which does not augur well.

“Asiedu Nketia(Mosquito) and Fifi Kwetey are destroying the NDC. Politics is about ideas and different methodologies but the NDC have made up their mind to come into power at all cost and we can’t sit and watch them. We[NPP] need to protect our own with every legitimate means,” he stated.

The Minister was reacting to the controversy the arrest of the NDC Parliamentary candidate for Awutu Senya East, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor has generated.

Addressing the gathering, the NDC National Chairman bemoaned why the Police should say they are listening to orders from above to release Naa Koryoo.

According to him, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the Chairman of the Police Council and “so if the Chairman of the Police Council is in a contest with us in an election and the police decide to be on the side of their chairman, then this democracy is at risk”.

The Police has since refuted Mr Nketia’s claims.

This comes a few weeks after the Minister declared all Ramsar sites located within the Tema Metropolitan, Tema West Municipal, Ablekuma West Municipal and the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assemblies as security zones.

Despite the directive, the former Tema East Member of Parliament said some people are still putting up illegal construction, endangering the site.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Monday, Mr Titus-Glover said he will not relent in his quest to ensure strict adherence and reclaim the lands.

“I had a tip-off that someone is constructing a wall in the wetlands so I decided to visit the area. I went with the MCE with support from the Police to demolish the structure. The impunity is becoming too much and needs to be stopped. I wonder why someone will pay a land in a wetland,” he stated.

Mr Titus-Glover warned his next destination will be Teshie Sango, adding no stone will be left unturned and will not allow political or any form of meddling.

He further disclosed his predecessor, Henry Quartey and the Forestry Commission set up a road map which he is going to adopt .

Chieftaincy is about friendship and development, not war – Titus Glover https://www.adomonline.com/chieftaincy-is-about-friendship-and-development-not-war-titus-glover/ Mon, 10 Jun 2024 07:55:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2406987 Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Titus Glover says chieftaincy is not about waging wars to conquer territories.

According to him, the phenomenon is supposed to foster friendship, collaboration, and community development.

Mr Glover noted that, chieftaincy involves a deep bond that unites ethnic groups through love and mutual respect.

He asserted that the visit by the Asantehene to the Ga land exemplifies this bond. The love and respect shown by the Asantehene and the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, highlight the true essence of chieftaincy as a force for unity, not conflict.

He noted that the love that both Asantehene and the Ga Mantse, as shown for both ethnic groups, is a sign that tells and shows how nice and love the chieftaincy is all about is not always about war.

Speaking at the royal durbar in honour of the Asantehene’s visit, he stated, “Chieftaincy about friendship collaboration and how we can develop our people. Whether in the area of education, industry, trade and commits, physical infrastructure development and digitalisation.”

“Recently his Royal Majesty Otumfuor registered his 25th anniversary we witnessed in his reign an epitome of peace, a symbol of unity, and also qualitative leadership that he has demonstrated during his reign as the king of Asanteman.

Mr. Titus also highlighted the unique cultural identity of the Ga-Dangbe people, characterised by their festivals, rites, and traditions.

“We believe that our friends from Asanteman equally have culture and tradition they are equally proud of

“On this not on behalf of Nii Ga and the entire Ga state, the regional coordinating council, we are so proud to receive Otumfuor and his delegation for this visit, we want to partner with him to tap on his rich experience to boost the friendship between the Ga state and Asanteman.”

On June 6, the Ga Mantse announced a historic visit by the Asantehene to the Ga State.

Leader of the Planning Committee, Nii Boi Abbey said this first-ever visit by the Ashanti overlord marks a major milestone in the history of the two kingdoms.

“The visit will be crowned with a special durbar hosted by King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse.

“It is a historic visit and rekindles the strong ties of friendship between the Gas and Ashantis. It also follows the Ga Mantse’s active participation in the Asantehene’s recent celebration of his 25th anniversary on the throne,” he said at a news conference.

He added, “The Ga and Ashanti people have had extensive interactions, which have led to the exchange of cultural practices, traditions, and ideas.”

During a visit on Thursday morning, he said anyone attempting to rebuild would be arrested.

This warning follows a fire on Wednesday that destroyed wooden structures near the railway line, resulting in a power outage in Adabraka, New Town, and nearby areas.

This is the second fire incident in two years, with a previous fire in February 2022 leading to an unsuccessful evacuation order.

In response to the recent fire, the Regional Minister has taken decisive action to prevent future incidents, highlighting the potential danger to lives if the fire had affected power lines.

Although he expressed sympathy for the settlers, he stressed the need for them to relocate to safeguard lives and property.

Titus-Glover assured that, measures would be in place to ensure compliance.

“We don’t want to have any third fire, therefore they should prepare and leave. We will make sure we put men on the ground to ensure nobody leaves here. And anybody who tries to build, we will arrest the person,” he cautioned.

The Ghana National Fire Service has however begun investigating the cause of the fire.

Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover has called on Ghanaians to vote New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the next President.

The former Tema East Member of Parliament believes Dr Bawumia will be one of the best Presidents in Ghana’s history.

Speaking on Adom FM Burning Issues, he asserted that, the time Ghana finds itself in requires a leader like the Vice President.

“We are advocating for Dr Bawumia because he has never been President before, but we have all seen the contributions of John Dramani Mahama (JDM). We need to give Bawumia a chance to show what he can achieve.

I believe that Bawumia will be one of the finest Presidents we will ever have. The progress made by President Akufo Addo will be continued by Bawumia, taking our development to the next level,” he stated.

Mr Glover added that, the ruling NPP government has effectively used resources at its disposal for projects including roads and schools.

“When a capable person is in charge, they deserve recognition for their good work. I don’t mind if you criticize us, but if you think President Akufo-Addo’s efforts aren’t enough, then I take issue with that,” he noted.

The Akufo-Addo-led government during its first term in 2017 promised to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa by the end of 2020.

However, Akufo-Addo’s eight-year tenure comes to an end, the vision is yet to see the light of day with many describing it as a hoax.

But the former Tema East Member of Parliament has said the vision is on course and not a failure as some people think, stating he has new policies to ensure it materialises.

Mr Glover who was recently sworn in to succeed Ayawaso Central Member of Parliament (MP) Henry Quartey disclosed this on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Monday.

“This time around, we will use the Asafoatse as taskforce. They are the custodians of the land and I don’t think they will watch on for their community to be untidy. We will apply the by-laws and use the sanitation courts.  So we will partner with the RCC and the sanitation ministry to collectively deal with the problem coupled with sensitisation in the communities,” he stated.

He noted that, Accra would be divided into zones for the cleaning exercise.

Mr. Titus-Glover added that, it is not solely the responsibility of the President, but rather a collective effort of all Ghanaians to ensure attitudinal change.

The Regional Minister also urged citizens to actively participate in keeping their surroundings clean and to take ownership of their environment.

Titus Glover furious over continuous encroachment of Tema, Sakumo Ramsar sites https://www.adomonline.com/titus-glover-furious-over-continuous-encroachment-of-tema-sakumo-ramsar-sites/ Fri, 03 May 2024 08:06:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2389311 Large portions of the once-vibrant wetlands are being taken over by encroachers and real estate developers, putting the Sakumo and Tema Ramsar sites in danger.

Many finished and incomplete structures that have invaded the buffer and core zones of these protected sites now stand in their stead.

Over the years, there have been many obstacles to overcome in the reclaiming of these regions, such as judicial injunctions that have impeded development and political meddling.

Many of these illegal constructions are still in place even after the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) and the Tema West Assembly placed signs stating to “stop work” and “produce permit” as early as 2022.

The sites were recently visited by Titus Glover, the Greater Accra Regional Minister designate, who brought attention to the gravity of the situation and the necessity for swift action to save these ecological riches.

Mr. Glover ordered for the removal of any legal obstacles that might be impeding Police enforcement and voiced alarm about the ongoing invasion.

He said instead of focusing on keeping the injunction in place and making sure the proper steps are followed, the TMA lawyer should endeavour to get the injunction lifted.

This entails removing the unapproved structures and enforcing the markers on the premises.

“I’m told by the Chief Executive of TMA that there was an injunction on the assembly on his predecessor that they shouldn’t come into the area when they did the markings on these properties so because of that fear and respect to the law, they’ve not been able to come back because when you see a TMA official hanging around to enforce it, it becomes a problem, but the question is the TMA lawyer, what was he doing?”

“If people are doing illegality, why do we sit down and allow an injunction to hold as of now? We should move towards it and take the injunction off, and be able to work and ensure the right things are done. Having seen this, we’ll hold a brief discussion, and maybe they can go back to the court to lift the injunction and make sure the right things are done.” he told Citi News.

Limited Voters registration: I’m not happy about EC’s posture – Titus Glover https://www.adomonline.com/limited-voters-registration-im-not-happy-about-ecs-posture-titus-glover/ Wed, 13 Sep 2023 09:30:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2293594 “I’m not happy with the posture of the Electoral Commission (EC) because somebody sitting somewhere will say government is behind it”. These are the words of Former Tema East Member of Parliament (MP), Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover.

His comments come after the EC commenced the limited voter registration exercise on September 12, 2023, despite an injunction application by some political parties against the process.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and four other political parties have argued that the exercise at the district offices will disenfranchise a lot of young voters, particularly in the rural areas.

Commenting on the matter, Titus Glover chided the EC for ignoring concerns raised by stakeholders.

He urged the elections management body to put the right measures in place to ensure majority of young voters partake in the exercise.

To Titus-Glover, the ongoing limited voter registration is “totally out of place” and may affect the nation’s security.

“If there are issues that need to be worked on, I don’t see the need for the rush. Let’s make sure we correct all these challenges that the EC is having so that quickly when these issues are resolved, you (EC) can come up with a date and time to get the registration done,” he added.

The ongoing limited voter registration is targeted to register over 1.3 million persons who have turned 18.

The 21-day exercise is scheduled to end on October 2 at all of EC’s 268 district offices nationwide.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia is the only candidate who can help the NPP break the eight.

“He’s the candidate the NDC fears most of all the 10 when you look around, when you scout around who is the most attacked candidate amongst the 10. It tells you something. When the NDC sets eyes on you, consistently attacks you, then you are the one that they fear the most.”

He also stressed the involvement of Dr Bawumia, in the NPP’s performance in the Northern Region, describing it as “phenomenal,” he told the media.

“This is somebody who has sacrificed so much for the country, I’m not saying the others haven’t sacrificed but when you look at the individual contribution, look at the days of the Supreme Court…I think that he has done his best.

“He [Bawumia] has defended this party, he has sacrificed for this party, he is the candidate that the NDC fears so much,” he added.

This comes after a press release by the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) disclosed some 70,000 students who applied a long time ago are yet to receive any money.

Speaking on Adom TV‘s Badwam Show, he pleaded with the Finance Ministry to provide funds for the payment of outstanding loan requests.

“I’m appealing to the Student Loan Trust people to find ways and means to talk to the Finance Ministry to release funds for payment of loans.

“I’m appealing to the Ministry of Finance to provide funds to pay the students. Pay those arrears that have not been fulfilled as of last year. After that, they can organise and pay that of those who applied this year,” he suggested.

Reacting to the same issue, Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, Kofi Adams, said although the “no guarantor” system in the loan application is a good initiative, it’s not useful if applicants do not get the loans.

“We can sit here to empathise with them but it cannot end at that. We have to tell government to be prudent with the resources given and do what is needed.

“You cannot leave these students this way and go celebrating that we have taken away the guarantor system. You don’t need a guarantor system again. What’s the use of not needing the guarantor system when I’m not receiving any money?” he quizzed.

“Sometimes I get disappointed in my elderly brother John because you’ve been president before and sometimes what you say in the past is what is used to query your present utterances.

He continued: “There is a way to communicate to someone when he or she is not doing the right thing. There is a way you go around it.

“If there’s something you don’t understand as a former president is that how you communicate? NDC cannot stop the work of the Electoral Commission.”

A former Tema East Member of Parliament, Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has asked Gabby Otchere-Darko to delete some tweets he made in reaction to the outburst of former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, over the Debt Exchange Programme.

According to him, the former Chief Justice and several pensioners have made genuine concerns which must not be treated lightly.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam, he said he should limit his tweets, considering the time the country finds itself in.

“If I meet Gabby, I will tell him where we are, we don’t need these tweets. You need to look at the impact and backlashes, you need to sit up,” he urged.

Justice Akuffo on Friday, February 10, 2023, joined a group of pensioners to picket at the Finance Ministry.

She described the move by the government not to exempt pensioners from the programme as sheer wickedness and outright disrespect to the elderly who have sacrificed their lives for the development of the nation.

She also called on the government to be transparent and account to Ghanaians what led to the current economic crisis and what all the loans were used for.

“I want to make an appeal to the President that he should intervene on this pensioners matter. I felt bad when I saw pension bondholders picketing at the Finance Ministry,” he said on Accra-based TV3.

He suggested that more time be given for negotiations rather than giving short-term deadlines.

“The bit in pieces of the dates that we’re changing means that the discussion and negotiations need to be done more so that people will have the opportunity to express how they want it to be done,” he urged.

Pension bondholders on Monday and Tuesday picketed at the Finance Ministry to appeal that their funds be exempted from the programme.

According to the Forum, the same grace that was extended to the Pension Funds should be extended to Pensioners as most of them depend on their coupons to cater for themselves and their children.

However, the government has refused to exempt them, rather offering them an “improved and enhanced offer.”

It’s a coup d’état – Titus-Glover on Minority leadership changes  https://www.adomonline.com/its-a-coup-detat-titus-glover-on-minority-leadership-changes/ Wed, 25 Jan 2023 11:48:52 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2208726 Former Member of Parliament for Tema East Constituency, Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has expressed his disappointment in the executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, the manner in which they dethroned their Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, his deputy, James Avedzi Klutse, and the Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak makes it a coup d’état.

“What they’ve done is a coup d’état because Asiedu Nketia said that they sent people to go inform them. They sent elders of the party. Is that the right thing to do? After making such a major decision like this,” he asked.

Speaking on Adom TV”s Badwam Show, he said the changes made by the NDC had lapsed.

“NDC has done their changes and there’s nothing that can be said about that but there are a few lapses that when you look from afar all is not right. There’s only one truth.”

Mr Titus-Glover praised the outgoing Minority Leader and Chief Whip for their hard work and dedication.

Ato Forson replaces Haruna Iddrisu as Minority Leader

“I’ve worked with Hon. Haruna at that time we were working on the International Trade Commission bill. We worked very closely at the time.

“When he was working as Minister for Trade, His performance, his composure, his delivery of all his works had its own strength. Muntaka fantastic,” he said.

To him, the NDC did not follow administrative procedures and that’s unfair to the Minority Caucus.

In his view, the Minority Leader, his deputy, and the Minority Chief Whip should have been commended and informed about the changes in a better way.

He also said if proper consultations were done, the NDC would not be having national executives meeting today.

The NDC announced a change in their parliamentary leadership with Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam MP, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, as the new Minority Leader who replaces Tamale South MP, Haruna Iddrisu.

Also Ellembelle MP, Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah, will also take over from Ketu North MP, James Avedzi Klutse as the Deputy Minority Leader.

Also, Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak, who was also the Minority Whip, has been replaced with Adaklu MP, Kwame Governs Agbodza.

Meanwhile, Banda MP, Ahmed Ibrahim, and Ada MP, Comfort Duyoe Cudjoe Ghansah, will maintain their positions as first and Deputy Whips respectively.

Chairman for the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has explained that the change forms part of the reorganization process to help the party capture political power during the 2024 elections.

General Secretary of the NDC, Fiifi Kwetey has said the parliamentary leadership changes are irreversible as consultations were done.

Why Kissi Agyebeng should recuse himself from ‘galamsey’ probe – Titus-Glover https://www.adomonline.com/why-kissi-agyebeng-should-recuse-himself-from-galamsey-probe-titus-glover/ Wed, 12 Oct 2022 16:25:08 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2170971 Former Member of Parliament for Tema East Constituency, Titus Glover, has urged the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, to recuse himself from probing some public officials over their alleged involvement in illegal mining.

He believes Mr Agyebeng’s interest and investigations are a step in the right direction.
However, the NPP guru says it is best he [Mr Agyebeng] allows any of his deputies to take charge of the investigation.

The Special Prosecutor on Monday announced he has begun investigating some public officials over their alleged involvement in illegal mining.

The investigation, he said, targets some officials of the Lands Ministry, the Forestry Commission, and the dissolved Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).

In a statement, the office said there is also an ongoing enquiry into allegations of use of public office for profit against Charles Bissue during his tenure as secretary to the IMCIM based on an investigative documentary by Tiger Eye P.I.

But according to Mr Titus-Glover, Mr Agyebeng recusing himself will allay fears of pre-judicial conclusions, considering the fact that he was a lawyer for investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger Eye P.I team prior to his appointment.

“It is good that the OSP [Office of the Special Prosecutor] has gotten involved in it, and we need to encourage the OSP. We need all the transparency that is required out of this to help deal with the menace completely but he should allow his deputies to do this,” he said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen.

Meanwhile, the Convenor of Media Coalition Against Illegal Mining, Dr Kenneth Ashigbey, has asked the OSP to be thorough and transparent with the investigations.

He said that nobody should be left off the hook as the canker threatens the entire nation.

AFCON: Dede was greedy – Former MP shades Black Stars captain [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/afcon-dede-was-greedy-tema-east-mp-shades-black-stars-captain/ Mon, 17 Jan 2022 18:40:58 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2067965 Former Member of Parliament for Tema East, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has expressed his disappointment in the Black Stars captain, Andrew Dede Ayew after his poor display at a certain point in the Gabon game.

Ghana was stunned by a late equaliser from Gabon to deny the team its first win in the current AFCON championship on Friday, January 14.

The captain of the side gave Black Stars a lead in the 18th minute with a superb finish outside of the box.

Black Stars, however, missed their opportunity to go 2-0 up after a crucial chance missed by Dede Ayew in the second half of the game.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, he said the Black Stars captain was at that moment ‘greedy’ and caused the team to lose a good chance of qualifying.

“Look at the pass Dede got during the game, for me that was so greedy enough,” he told Adom FM.

“That moment he should have released the pass early to the player who was infront of him and that will have been a second goal for us,” he stressed.

“You play as a team, you scored a beautiful goal every one was praising you,
Dede would have made our day if he had given that pass to that player there and that would have sealed everything,” he added.

According to him, coach Milovan Rajevac and his team won’t find it easy in their last game.

“Clearly Comoros are also coming to make a name for themselves and they have watched our style of play already so they are not coming there to joke,” he warned.

Ghana will play their last group stage match against Comoros on Tuesday at 19:00 GMT.

This is not the time for strike – Titus-Glover to drivers https://www.adomonline.com/this-is-not-the-time-for-strike-titus-glover-to-drivers/ Mon, 06 Dec 2021 12:58:14 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2054336 Former Deputy Minister for Transport, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has kicked against the strike which took effect in the early hours of Monday, December 6.

The Coalition of Commercial Transport Operators announced a sit-down strike to seek from the government the removal of the five specific nuisance levies and taxes in the 2022 budget.

This has left pedestrians, particularly on the Lapaz-Madina stretch, stranded over drivers’ refusal to load vehicles.

This action, per his perspective, is not favourable, considering the current economic standing of the country.

He elaborated on Badwam Mpensempensemu on Adom TV that such a drastic decision will affect not just drivers but the average Ghanaian.

He diagnosed that when there is a negotiation between leaders without trust, such menaces will be recorded in the country.

He was confident the Transport Ministry and the Coordinating Council would find ways in solving the issue.

Actions of Speaker, Minority were predetermined – Titus-Glover https://www.adomonline.com/actions-of-speaker-minority-were-predetermined-titus-glover/ Mon, 29 Nov 2021 20:26:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2051504 Former Member of Parliament for Tema East constituency, Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has said that the rejection of the 2022 budget presented by the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta was predetermined due to the actions of the Minority and Speaker Alban Bagbin.

Mr Titus-Glover made this comment following the rejection of the 2022 budget on Friday, 26th of November, 2021 by Parliament after the Minority won a voice vote against the Majority who staged a walkout.

In an interview today on Dwaso Nsem, Adom FM, Mr Titus-Glover said that the actions of the Speaker and Minority are injuring the country.

“I am saying the actions of the Speaker and the Minority were predetermined. Because they know what they are doing. Whatever they are doing I am telling you they are injuring this country,’’ he stressed.

According to him, whether the 2022 budget presented before Parliament has challenges or not, the Speaker of Parliament should have found a way to solve them amicably.

“In this 4th Republic even if there are challenges in the budget, the Speaker must make sure that both the Majority and the Minority will engage to work to bring solution than deny this country the revenue needed for development in the country,’’ he stressed.

G/R: Stop the blame game; we caused our own downfall – Titus-Glover tells failed NPP MPs https://www.adomonline.com/g-r-stop-the-blame-game-we-caused-our-own-downfall-titus-glover-tells-failed-npp-mps/ Thu, 14 Oct 2021 23:04:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2028678 Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema-East constituency, Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has admonished his defeated colleague MPs to accept responsibility for their poor performance in the Greater Accra Region during the 2020 election.

According to him, the attitude and relationship of some MPs who lost towards party executives contributed to their downfall.

His comments come on the back of allegations by some failed aspirants that the Regional Chairman, Divine Agorham, was responsible for the outcome of the election.

The party’s Parliamentary candidate for Kpone Katamanso, Hopeson Adorye, for instance, alleged the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) tried every means possible to stop him from winning.

He claimed the MCE sabotaged his campaign while Mr Agorhom brainwashed his people including his (Mr Agorhom) son to work against him.

But speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show, the former Deputy Transport Minister fought off the claims.

To him, the comments against Chairman Agorham is unfair, owing to the work he did for the party on grounds .

He explained Chairman Agorhom did a lot of work to ensure their massive victory, adding a little push and commitment from the defeated aspirants would have been a game-changer.

“Nobody can and should blame the Regional Chairman, Divine Agorhom for the loss of seats in the region. We [Parliamentary candidates/MPs] must blame ourselves. Our own behaviours, petty quarrels, and vindictive attitudes gave out those seats to the NDC,” he fumed.

He, however, noted he has spoken to Mr Adorye to cease fire on the rants, adding he has initiated steps for him to formally meet the Chairman and talk issues over.

The NPP in the 2020 election lost seven out of the 21 seats it held in the region.

They included the Krowor, Tema-East, Okaikoi-North, Ledzokuku, Ablekuma-Central, Adentan, Madina constituencies which were flipped to the NDC, securing both parties 137 seats each in parliament.

NPP is determined to ensure Black Stars succeed – Titus-Glover  https://www.adomonline.com/npp-is-determined-to-ensure-black-stars-succeed-titus-glover/ Fri, 10 Sep 2021 17:43:16 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2013498 A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP], Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has reiterated that the party is determined to ensure the success of the Black Stars.

The senior national team has already booked a place in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to be hosted in Cameroon next year.

Ghana kicked off their 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers with a win against Ethiopia at the Cape Coast Stadium before losing to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in their second Group G game.

The defeat has left CK Akonnor’s future as the Black Stars coach in doubt with majority calling for his sack.

But the former Deputy Transport Minister, speaking on Fire for Fire on Adom TV, insisted that the ruling NPP government is bent on ensuring the team succeeds.

“There is an agenda to run down the Black Stars and we will not allow that,” he said.

“The Sports Minister has made a plea to the President and the country is raising $25m for the Black Stars for the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup so why don’t we support this course.

“Kurt Okraku and the Football Association must be careful because the NPP government will not allow any agenda against the Black Stars and the coach to work,” he added.

Coach Akonnor has been tasked to win the next year’s Afcon and play in the semifinals of the 2022 Mundial in Qatar.

GFA frustrating CK Akonnor – Titus-Glover https://www.adomonline.com/gfa-frustrating-ck-akonnor-titus-glover/ Fri, 10 Sep 2021 17:40:52 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2013493 Former Member of Parliament for Tema East Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover has accused the Kurt Okraku-led Ghana Football Association (GFA) of frustrating Black Stars coach, CK Akonnor.

Akonnor has dominated the local media following Ghana’s defeat to South Africa.

The Black Stars opened their 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers with a slim home win over Ethiopia at the Cape Coast Stadium.

However, the four-time African champions suffered an away defeat at the FNB Stadium against the Bafana Bafana in their second Group G game.

Akonnor has been tipped to be axed from his job but Mr Titus-Glover, who is a former Deputy Minister of Transport, has called on the entire country to support coach Akonnor.

According to him, the GFA must desist from frustrating and imposing players on the former Asante Kotoko and Ashgold gaffer.

“CK Akonnor is competent enough to manage our Black Stars because I know his capabilities,” he said on Adom TV’s Fire for Fire.

“The GFA must desist from interfering in his job.

“We have to support CK Akonnor because he is a former Black Stars captain and he has played at the highest level.

“Akonnor is going through psychological trauma and if we don’t support him, it will be worse.

“CK Akonnor has the qualities to lead us to the World Cup with our support. The FA must respect him (CK Akonnor) and support him.

“The FA must ensure Akonnor gets his condition of service as the coach of the Black Stars,” he added.

Former MP sends strong warning to Mahama https://www.adomonline.com/former-mp-sends-strong-warning-to-mahama/ Wed, 08 Sep 2021 15:06:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2012051 Former Tema East Member of Parliament (MP), Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has urged former President John Mahama to be cautious with his utterances.

According to the former Deputy Minister, Mr Mahama is gradually turning himself into a ‘rebel leader’ to incite people for violence.

His message of caution comes on the back of Mr Mahama’s comment that the National Democratic Congress ( NDC) will be very vigilant at the polling stations during the 2024 elections.

Speaking on a Techiman-based radio station, Akina FM, he stated that the 2020 elections showed the NDC that elections can only be won at the polling stations, thus, they will not let their guards down.

“We were clearly robbed but we accepted the verdict for the sake of peace, but I want to state here that the next elections would be won or lost at the polling station. So at the polling station, it will ‘be do or die.’ I am not saying all ‘die be die’, I’m saying it will be ‘do or die’ because the right thing must be done,” he said.

Nii Kwartei Titus -Glover, Ghanaian politician and former Member of Parliament of Tema East constituency

“We will do everything to ensure that the election is free and fair. We will not cheat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and we don’t expect anyone to cheat us either. Let the elections be peaceful and fair,” he added.

Reacting to the development, he said the words are not worthy to come from a former President of the country, adding it comes out as nothing but mere desperation for power.

ALSO READ:

“Mr Mahama is a good friend and an elder brother but also as a former President, such remarks should not be coming from you,” he said on Adom TV’s Badwam show.

However, he noted that if Mr Mahama would insist on carrying out whatever plan he meant with the ‘do-or-die’ affair, then he must ensure his sons lead the agenda.

“It is an unfortunate situation for lives to be lost in an election but Mahama must make sure he brings his four sons from Dubai and this must be a wake-up call for Ghanaians,” he added.

MP fires Shatta Wale for not defending Highlife genre in USA https://www.adomonline.com/mp-fires-shatta-wale-for-not-defending-highlife-genre-in-usa/ Tue, 08 Jun 2021 10:48:22 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1970650 Ghanaian politician, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has said he is disappointed in Shatta Wale for not defending highlife as a well-recognised Ghanaian genre.

Mr Titus-Glover was speaking on the heels of Shatta Wale’s comments about his recent visit to Miami.

Shatta Wale mentioned in his State of the Industry address that the lack of a uniquely identified genre is one of the main issues of the music industry.

According to him, during his recent visit to the United States of America (USA), he was questioned by some people about the genre of music Ghanaians do.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Mr Titus-Glover said that Shatta Wale should have given a direct answer.

They were asking him the kind of genre of music Ghanaians are noted for and he said he is a dancehall artiste. He was astonished himself that they were asking him that question.

Mr Titus-Glover nonetheless appreciated the emergence of other music genres but insists that Shatta Wale should have been able to defend the indigenous highlife genre.

“There have been different styles of music that we play these days but what we are noted for is highlife,” he said.

The former Member of Parliament for Tema East constituency charged Shatta Wale to take advantage of his huge following to lead the agenda to promote more highlife music across the country.

Former MP sends strong message to Health Minister over death of 12-year-old boy https://www.adomonline.com/former-mp-sends-strong-message-to-health-minister-over-death-of-12-year-old-boy/ Mon, 17 May 2021 18:23:57 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1960260 Former Tema East Member of Parliament (MP), Nii Titus-Glover, wants heads to roll within the health sector following the death of a 12-year-old boy over the lack of bed and ambulance delay.

According to him, the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, should not to sit aloof but immediately investigate the issue.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam show, Mr Titus-Glover stressed the issue must not be treated lightly to serve as deterrence to others ‘playing’ on the job.

He added the circumstances must be heavily condemned and the persons involved made to answer with sanctions applied where necessary.

“The MP and the family did all they could but poor communication brought about the death. People need to be sanctioned seriously because at the end of the day, the government of the day will be blamed to fix it.

“Whoever is in charge at 37, the ambulance service and all others involved must be made to answer and for Korle-Bu, they should have at least allowed the boy to be brought in before discussing issues with bed,” he said.

His comment comes on the back of a 12-year-old boy who died at the Battor Catholic Church while receiving treatment after falling from a mango tree.

According to Michelle Nartey, his father and an Assembly Member at Ningo Prampram, the boy was admitted at the facility where preliminary examinations including x-rays were conducted.

RELATED:

However, there was the need for him to be referred to either Korle-Bu or 37 for further treatment as the condition was deteriorating but when they placed a call to Korle-Bu, they were told there was no bed, hence the boy could not be admitted.

Fast forward, calls were also made to the 37 Military Hospital where they agreed to the transfer but their biggest hurdle was an ambulance to facilitate the transfer.

After hours of waiting, the ambulance service never showed up over claims that they were awaiting confirmation from 37.

A delay which he said led to the boy’s death at about 9:00pm.
