Speaking during a community engagement in the constituency, Nana B, as he is widely known, described Baba Ali as a homegrown candidate whose life story is closely tied to Ayawaso East.

He emphasised that the aspirant’s deep roots in the area make him the right choice to represent the people in Parliament.

According to Nana B, Baba Ali has not only lived in the constituency for years but has also worked and taught there, giving him firsthand understanding of the daily challenges residents face.

“Baba Ali Yussif is your brother. He sleeps with you, he wakes up with you, and he has taught in this constituency before. He was born here; the food you all eat is the same food he eats. Don’t bring in any stranger. This is your brother. As you see him here, even after you vote for him, he will still be here, available and with you,” he said in pidgin.

The by-election follows the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure, in January while receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Five candidates, including former High Commissioner to Nigeria Baba Jamal, are seeking to succeed Alhaji Toure. The others are independent candidates: Alhaji Mohammed Umaru Sanda, David Kannor, and Ibrahim Iddrisu of the Liberal People’s Party (LPP).

NPP Primaries: Only police to handle security – Nana B https://www.adomonline.com/npp-primaries-only-police-to-handle-security-nana-b/ Fri, 30 Jan 2026 20:09:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2625762 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has assured that the Ghana Police Service will be the sole security agency at tomorrow’s NPP presidential primaries.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Nana B emphasized that no personnel from the National Security or other agencies are expected at the polls.

He praised the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for demonstrating strong capacity and seriousness in preparing for the event, likening it to national election standards.

Police deployment will range between 70 and 150 officers per voting centre, all in uniform, ensuring coverage from the national level down to districts.

“The security agreement rests solely with the Ghana Police Service. So far, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has demonstrated the capacity to effectively manage this responsibility; he is very serious about his role and has approached it with the same level of commitment as a national election.

“The military has only been invited to assist in the Bawku area. We do not expect any other security agencies or additional deployments from National Security. Every level, from national to district, will be monitored exclusively by the police. Officers will be in uniform, with between 70 and 150 police personnel assigned to each voting centre,” he said.

External threats may arise, police must be prepared – Nana B on January 31 primaries https://www.adomonline.com/external-threats-may-arise-police-must-be-prepared-nana-b-on-january-31-primaries/ Fri, 23 Jan 2026 10:01:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2622771 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has assured party supporters that adequate security measures will be in place during the presidential primaries scheduled for January 31.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Nana B said the decision to arm police officers at polling stations is to protect against potential threats, which may not necessarily originate from within the party.

“It’s not a bad idea. You don’t know the external threats that may come, and they may not even come from the NPP. A lot of delegates are going to the polls, and the police have to be prepared,” he said.

He explained that security personnel deployed near the voting centers will not carry rifles, while those stationed further away will be armed to safeguard the surroundings.

“Every polling station will have some men deployed. Not all of them will hold rifles, but security is very important and must be protected during elections,” Nana B added.

The NPP National Organiser urged party supporters to remain calm and respect the outcome of the elections.

“Support anyone who wins. I can assure you that no one can rig this election,” he said.

His comments come after the NPP announced that the Ghana Police Service would be armed during the primaries, following intelligence reports suggesting possible threats.

According to the Secretary of the NPP Election Committee, William Yamoah, the decision was made after videos and commentaries suggesting potential violence were intercepted.

If I had the power, I would have sacked Prof. Frimpong-Boateng long ago – Nana B https://www.adomonline.com/if-i-had-the-power-i-would-have-sacked-prof-frimpong-boateng-long-ago-nana-b/ Tue, 13 Jan 2026 19:25:04 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2618942 National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has criticised former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, describing his recent comments as disruptive to the party.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Nana B said although Prof. Frimpong-Boateng is respected as a senior member of the party, his utterances have crossed the line and are causing damage to the NPP.

He stated that if he had the authority, he would have removed him from the party long ago.

Nana B recalled defending Prof. Frimpong-Boateng in the past but noted that his current posture, including describing the NPP as a “fake party,” is unacceptable and undermines party unity.

According to him, such comments risk encouraging younger party members to lose respect for senior figures.

“I remember some time ago when Prof. Frimpong-Boateng wrote something, and I defended him. We respect him as a leader; however, the political landscape is bigger than any one individual,” he said.

“He makes statements that are sometimes out of line and not logical. If he claims the party is fake, it is consistent with some of his previous comments,” Nana B added.

“Some of these remarks are unnecessary and may cause young people to disrespect him. If you love the party, you should do what is right. His actions are destructive to the party. If I had the power, I would remove him from the party,” he stated.

He further accused Prof. Frimpong-Boateng of showing disregard for the National Executive Committee (NEC), adding that his public comments continue to harm both the party and his own reputation.

“He is not an effective communicator, and when he speaks, it reflects poorly,” Nana B said.

The comments come amid moves by the NPP to invoke provisions of its constitution to initiate processes to expel Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, following remarks he made on Channel One TV on January 12, 2026, where he described the party as “fake” and said he no longer considered himself a member.

Nana B criticises govt over rising tariffs, worsening living conditions https://www.adomonline.com/nana-b-criticises-govt-over-rising-tariffs-worsening-living-conditions/ Wed, 10 Dec 2025 08:10:45 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2608800 The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has criticised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, accusing it of failing to deliver on its promises after one year in office.

He said the administration has worsened living conditions for Ghanaians and undermined key democratic institutions.

Addressing the media, Nana Boakye expressed concern over the sharp increases in electricity and water tariffs, describing them as a heavy burden on ordinary citizens.

He also faulted the government’s handling of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, alleging that some NDC officials have been linked to the illicit activities.

The NPP national organiser further condemned what he described as the politically motivated removal of the former Chief Justice and attempts to weaken the independence of the Electoral Commission by targeting its Chair.

According to him, these actions, if not checked, threaten the integrity of Ghana’s democratic institutions and the rule of law.

Nana Boakye urged the government to demonstrate accountability and focus on delivering tangible improvements in the lives of citizens, stressing that the people’s patience is not limitless.

He emphasised that transparency, good governance, and the protection of institutional independence are vital to maintaining public trust in the government.

His remarks come amid growing scrutiny of the NDC government as it marks its first year in office.

Akwatia by-election: We’ll lawfully protect our members – Nana B https://www.adomonline.com/akwatia-by-election-well-lawfully-protect-our-members-nana-b/ Wed, 20 Aug 2025 06:51:07 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2569108 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has assured that the party will take lawful steps to safeguard its members during the upcoming Akwatia by-election scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

His comments follow the NPP’s renewed call on the Ghana Police Service to arrest and prosecute individuals involved in the recent election rerun violence at Ablekuma North before the Akwatia polls.

According to Nana B, the attacks on NPP supporters in Ablekuma North have made it necessary for the party to adopt its own security arrangements, even with police deployment in place.

Speaking on Joy FM‘s Top Story, he explained that “For self-protection, it’s within our laws.”

“You have to defend yourself. You have to protect yourself all the time. So if the NPP says that, yes, we are going to go into this election with the mindset of protecting ourselves, it is within the law.

He stressed, however, that these measures will strictly comply with the law.

“Everything that we will do that will amount to protection of ourselves, clearly will be fitted within the remits of the law.”

He further urged the police to stick to their commitment not to deploy any military personnel during the poll.

“We don’t need any military presence there.”

The Electoral Commission (EC) confirmed that the printing of ballot papers for the upcoming Akwatia parliamentary by-election will officially commence on Wednesday, August 20.

This was announced after the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) convened a crucial meeting today with representatives of political parties to discuss preventive measures against election-related violence and key security arrangements for the upcoming poll.

Addressing the media after the meeting, the Commission’s Director of Electoral Services, Benjamin Bano-Bioh, indicated that “as of now, we are going to start the printing of ballots from tomorrow.”

“Procurement has already been done. We have procured all the materials required for the election, so we are already,” he added.

This move comes in the wake of the sudden passing of Akwatia MP Ernest Yaw Kumi earlier this year, prompting a by-election to fill his seat in Parliament.

The late legislator, who represented the New Patriotic Party (NPP), died in July 2025, necessitating the electoral preparations.

Withdraw from Akwatia by-election to honour Omane Boamah – Nana B urges NDC https://www.adomonline.com/withdraw-from-akwatia-by-election-to-honour-omane-boamah-nana-b-urges-ndc/ Tue, 12 Aug 2025 19:03:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2566444 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to pull out of the upcoming parliamentary by-election in Akwatia, scheduled for September 2.

Nana B, as he is popularly known, said such a move would mirror the NPP’s decision not to contest the Tamale Central by-election, following the death of its MP, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, in the August 6 military helicopter crash.

He argued that, given the NDC’s loss of five prominent members in the crash, the party should refrain from engaging in active politics immediately after the state burial.

“We are mourning with them. So, for me, you have a stalwart like honorable from the Eastern Region, I would say that right after the state burial, then we enter into such fierce contest, for me, it will not serve his memory right,” he said on Joy FM on August 11.

Mr Nana Boakye referenced recent incidents, including violent clashes in Ablekuma and the devastating helicopter crash, as reasons to prioritise national unity over partisan competition.

“I believe that right after laying such stalwarts to rest, plunging into a fierce contest would not serve their memory well. With the current mood of the nation, lowering the political temperature would be the right thing to do,” he explained.

He added that even though that is his personal expectation, “we leave it to them.”

The Akwatia seat became vacant following the death of MP Ernest Yaw Kumi on July 7, 2025, after a brief illness.

He was 40 years old.

Akwatia by-election: Do you drink water when you wake up? – Nana B jabs Mustapha Gbande [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/akwatia-by-election-dont-you-drink-water-when-you-wake-up-nana-b-jabs-mustapha-gbande-video/ Fri, 01 Aug 2025 16:30:50 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2562588 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has hit back at the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, over recent comments ahead of the Akwatia by-election.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Nana B described Mr. Gbande’s remarks as reckless and intended to create fear and panic.

“Is Akwatia for him? You just wake up and say anything. These unfortunate comments are just to destroy the peace of this country,” he said.

Nana B stressed that the NPP will not be intimidated by threats of arrests or violence.

“We are ready, and we will protect ourselves in Akwatia. The seat is already ours, so the NDC should stop talking,” he added.

Responding directly to Mr. Gbande, Nana B said, “Who is Mustapha Gbande? We’ll be waiting for him in Akwatia. Nobody drinks water when they wake up and starts talking anyhow. Does he even drink water when he wakes up every morning?”

On the issue of arrests, he challenged the NDC’s assertions, saying:
“Do we arrest people at Akwatia? If anyone is invited by the security agencies, they will show up. So what’s he talking about?”

His comments follow warnings by Mustapha Gbande that individuals within the NPP with pending criminal cases would be arrested if they appear in Akwatia.

While Gbande maintained that the NDC was committed to a peaceful campaign, he noted that his party would not tolerate any form of lawlessness during the by-election.

NPP announces date to open nomination for flagbearer hopeful https://www.adomonline.com/npp-announces-date-to-open-nomination-for-flagbearer-hopeful/ Tue, 22 Jul 2025 07:39:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2558249 The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced its decision to open nominations for its presidential primaries no later than July 31, 2025.

This was revealed by the party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen following the party’s successful National Delegates Conference held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon.

“By next week, we will open nominations for the presidential primaries, and it will be at least before July 31. It is in accordance with the constitution, which directs us to give at least six months’ notice before the election,” he stated.

He added that the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, will at the appropriate time provide full details of the nomination procedures.

Addressing concerns raised by some supporters of aspirants who felt the former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was given an unfair advantage during the conference, Nana B appealed for calm.

“The focus should be on the overall success of the conference, rather than isolated incidents or perceptions,” he stressed.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia’s address at the conference was justified by his status as a former Vice President and presidential candidate, and should not be misconstrued as an endorsement or signal of preference by the party.

Nana B commended the event’s organising committee, led by former Bekwai MP Joseph Osei Owusu, and praised all stakeholders whose efforts ensured a successful conference.

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful presidential primary, and called for support from all quarters to safeguard the party’s democratic processes.

The NPP presidential primaries have been scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Even before the official opening of nominations, prominent party figures including former Education Minister and Bosomtwe MP Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Abetifi MP Dr. Bryan Acheampong, and former General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong have expressed interest in contesting the slot.

Dr. Bawumia is yet to formally declare his bid, but he is widely seen as the leading contender.

It hit us very hard – Nana B mourns death of Ernest Kumi [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/it-hit-us-very-hard-nana-b-mourns-death-of-ernest-kumi-video/ Mon, 07 Jul 2025 16:20:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2552365 National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of Akwatia MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi, describing it as a major blow to the party and Parliament.

Speaking in an emotional interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Nana B said the news was difficult to accept.

“Sometimes, it’s even hard to believe what the Bible says — that we should give thanks to God for everything,” he said. “How do you thank God for something like this? It’s painful. But the Bible says we must give thanks, so we do, even when it’s hard,” he mourned.

Nana B recounted how he received the news during a National Executive Committee meeting at the party’s headquarters on Monday morning.

“We were discussing matters about Ablekuma North when our Director of Administration and Finance showed me the news on the internet. I was shocked and heartbroken,” he said.

According to him, the atmosphere in the meeting changed completely.

“I later saw the Regional Chairman returning to the meeting in tears. We had to pause everything. Executives like our General Secretary, Minority Leader, and other senior members were all visibly crying. That tells you how deeply this has affected the party,” he added.

Nana B praised the late MP for his dedication and intellect, noting that Ernest Kumi was one of the party’s most promising young politicians.

“He was a very brilliant and intelligent young man — deep in his submissions and hardworking. He had just overcome a legal battle regarding his seat and was ready to make his mark in Parliament. Unfortunately, that opportunity has been taken from him,” he lamented.

“This is a big blow to the NPP and Parliament. We’ve lost a rising star.”

The details surrounding Mr. Kumi’s death remain unclear, but reports indicate he died after a short illness.

Tributes have since been pouring in from both sides of the House and across the political spectrum.

You’re a ‘small boy’ in NPP; tone down your utterances – Former MP slams Nana B https://www.adomonline.com/youre-a-small-boy-in-npp-tone-down-your-utterances-former-mp-slams-nana-b/ Thu, 26 Jun 2025 12:32:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2548653 Former Subin Member of Parliament (MP), Eugene Boakye Antwi, has taken a swipe at New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, urging him to be more measured in his public utterances.

In a strongly worded response during an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Antwi described Nana B as a “small boy” in the party whose comments often lack the maturity expected of someone in his position.

“Excuse me to say, he is a small boy in the party. Being a National Organiser doesn’t make you a senior member. He is my young brother, and I will urge him to be measured in his utterances. His tone and language must reflect his position,” he said.

Mr. Antwi warned that speaking out of emotion could backfire.
“When he talks out of emotion, we will also use emotions to vote. As a National Organiser, the masses must gravitate towards you, so you must be patient in dealing with the people. In rebuilding, we must be open to suggestions. If the ideas don’t help, we discard them—not insult people,” he cautioned.

His comments follow Nana B’s response to NPP stalwart Dr. Arthur Kennedy, who recently questioned the timing of the party’s presidential primaries. Dr. Kennedy argued that choosing a flagbearer at this point—after the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections—was premature and could be disastrous. He likened the party’s rebuilding process to constructing a building that requires a solid foundation.

However, Nana B dismissed the analogy, insisting the NPP’s structures are already in place and ready to support the party’s future.

But Mr. Antwi believes Nana B’s reaction was unhelpful and divisive.
“We need sober reflection, not bravado. Rebuilding after a loss takes more than structures—it requires humility, unity, and open-mindedness,” he said.

Did you have any experience before becoming MP? – Nana B questions Adomako Kissi [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/did-you-have-any-experience-before-becoming-mp-nana-b-questions-adomako-kissi-audio/ Wed, 25 Jun 2025 13:34:27 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2548179 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has criticised former Anyaa-Sowutuom MP, Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi, over his comments regarding the composition of the party’s national executives.

Dr Kissi had argued that, unlike the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the NPP’s national executives lack parliamentary experience — a shortcoming he believes weakens the party’s strategic direction.

But Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, described the remarks as misplaced during an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.

While acknowledging that the current executives may not have parliamentary backgrounds, he argued that they possess expertise from diverse professional fields, which makes them competent and capable.

“If Dr Kissi’s argument is anything to go by, was he ever an MP before his election in 2020?” he questioned.

“We need to be measured in our language. These same ‘experienced’ people he’s referring to have also lost elections before, so what exactly is his point?

“I was Deputy Director of the National Service Scheme, so I have experience in corporate governance. The General Secretary managed a huge institution like the Youth Employment Agency. John Boadu, for instance, was never an MP but served successfully as General Secretary — with a wealth of experience across various party roles. We in the NPP have our own unique strengths too.”

Why I don’t support MMDCEs endorsing flagbearer hopefuls – Nana B [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/why-i-dont-support-mmdces-endorsing-flagbearer-hopefuls-nana-b-video/ Wed, 25 Jun 2025 10:56:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2548091 National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, says he is not in support of the growing trend of endorsements by groups within the party for specific flagbearer hopefuls ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Nana B stressed the need for cohesion within the party, cautioning that such endorsements risk dividing the ranks.

“We all want party cohesion. When former MMDCEs endorse one candidate and another group supports a different one, it creates unnecessary tension. That is why I don’t support such endorsements,” he said.

His comments come in the wake of recent public declarations by some former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) backing specific presidential hopefuls.

A group operating under the banner Forum of Former MMDCEs for Dr. Bawumia recently endorsed the former Vice President as the preferred flagbearer for the 2028 elections.

Not long after, another set of former MMDCEs was reported to have paid a courtesy call on former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, during which they also declared their support for him.

But according to Nana B, such public displays of support are premature and could derail the party’s internal unity efforts.

“This is one of the reasons the leadership of the party has called a meeting with all presidential aspirants on July 3, 2025. We want to meet them, talk to them about the guidelines the National Council has approved, and advise them to speak to their followers so that we can maintain some sanity before the elections,” he stated.

NANA B ON MMDCES SUPPORT

Asked if he personally supports any of the aspirants, Nana B was emphatic.

“I don’t have a choice. We, as national officers, do not have a preferred candidate. Whoever the party elects to lead us, we will fully support,” he affirmed.

He clarified that there are no sanctions at the moment for the former MMDCEs, but the party’s leadership is taking steps to manage the situation through dialogue.

“We are not punishing anyone. This meeting is to help provide guidance so that everyone is on the same page moving forward,” he added.

Attorney General must resign or be sacked – Nana B [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/attorney-general-must-resign-or-be-sacked-nana-b-audio/ Wed, 07 May 2025 08:33:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2532425 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has criticised Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, over his response to corruption allegations made by Gomoa Central MP, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Nana B, as he is popularly known, stated that Dr. Ayine should have either resigned or been dismissed by now, considering the gravity of the allegations.

He expressed disappointment with the Attorney General’s handling of the matter and the tone of his response.

“A Plus is not just any person now. He is an Honourable Member of Parliament who belongs to the Majority and says that you are corrupt and a thief,” he said.

“In your response, you are saying that A Plus is saying so because you went for some campaign funds from one Dr. Sledge. And people have even advised you to initiate legal proceedings against A Plus, that is, a defamation suit, but you will not do that because you don’t want to be distracted,” Nana B added.

A Plus had accused Dr. Ayine of manipulating the drafting and passage of the Sanitation and Pollution Levy in 2021 for personal gain while the NDC was in opposition.

At a press conference on April 30, Dr. Ayine denied the accusations, stating, “If I have to walk in the mud to clear my name, I will do so. I will not allow anyone to tarnish my image without a fight.”

But Nana B insisted that the matter is of national importance and deserved a more professional approach.

“If A Plus thinks that he wants to play with you in the mud, that is where you want? You are from the mud? Where you are, you are not afraid of the mud, so you go into the mud?” he questioned. “Who says we want our Attorney General to be playing in the mud?”

He also reminded Ghanaians that the Attorney General’s office is a constitutional one and should be upheld with dignity.

Nana B further criticised Dr. Ayine’s response, suggesting that it inadvertently cast Parliament in a negative light. “If every MP had received money for campaign activities, then there would be 276 thieves in Parliament,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, A Plus has issued an unqualified apology to the Bolgatanga East MP over the claims.

Mahama must be careful – Nana B [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/mahama-must-be-careful-nana-b-audio/ Tue, 06 May 2025 08:51:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2532028 The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has said that the massive protest against the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, held by his party along with some opposition parties, should send a clear message to President Mahama to be more cautious.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Nana Boakye said the protest was a warning to the president.

“The protest against the Chief Justice should tell Mahama to be careful. I have never seen a government face such a massive demonstration. The protest was huge, and we will make the government uncomfortable,” he said.

Nana Boakye described the impact of the demonstration, saying, “The protest has shaken the world. I was amazed by the flow of people, especially on a Monday morning. The turnout was massive.”

He also pointed out that despite Mahama’s government receiving a strong mandate from the people, it has failed to live up to expectations.

“The Mahama government may have received massive support from the people, but they have failed them. That’s why so many people came out to pour their frustrations on the streets. People are fed up,” he stated.

Nana Boakye expressed his surprise at the speed with which frustrations have mounted.

“I was overwhelmed by the turnout. The way Mahama has started governing, it’s clear that people are already angry — and it’s only been five months,” he added.

He continued, “Some of the actions of this government are very troubling, and we are ready to expose their wrongdoings. Less than five months into the administration, they are already making things difficult for Ghanaians.”

The NPP National Organizer also criticized the NDC for creating a hostile environment towards the judicial system.

“Despite receiving a strong mandate, the NDC has fostered a hostile environment towards the judiciary. The recent crowd at the NPP-led demonstration against the suspension of the Chief Justice is a sign that Ghanaians are already growing frustrated with the new administration.”

NANA B ON CJ PROTEST

Nana Boakye further declared that the NPP and other opposition parties would continue their protests.

“We will announce a series of demonstrations in the coming days, and we will provide the public with all the details,” he added.

The protest, which saw participation from other opposition parties alongside the NPP, was held in Accra. It was sparked by what the opposition called a “dangerous interference” with the judiciary after President Mahama suspended Chief Justice Torkornoo.

Nana B sets record straight on alleged slap during NPP ‘Thank You Tour’ [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/nana-b-sets-record-straight-on-alleged-slap-during-npp-thank-you-tour-audio/ Mon, 28 Apr 2025 10:17:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2529375 National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has refuted claims that former Suhum MP, Fredrick Opare Ansah, slapped him during the Thank You Tour over the weekend.

Nana B, as he is popularly known, dismissed the claims as false and baseless.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Nana B clarified that no such incident occurred, describing Mr. Opare Ansah as a calm individual who would never resort to violence.

“There is no iota of truth. Hon. Opare Ansah can never do that because I am even the radical one. So I don’t even understand where all of this is coming from. I don’t know how people will fabricate such a story,” he stated.

Nana B further refuted claims that he was reprimanded by former NPP Presidential aspirant and Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

“He was only raising concerns about our time and schedules because it was about to rain. So I don’t know why mischievous people in our team would record this video and circulate it,” he explained.

“I’m not a coward and not in any way angry. There is absolutely nothing. Hon. Kennedy Agyapong never issued a threat,” he added.

Expressing his disappointment, Nana B described the viral video as “useless, needless, and baseless.”

Why Justice Baffoe-Bonnie should not accept role as Ag. Chief Justice – Nana B [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/why-justice-baffoe-bonnie-should-not-accept-role-as-ag-chief-justice-nana-b-audio/ Wed, 23 Apr 2025 12:15:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2527859 National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has urged Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie to decline any appointment as Acting Chief Justice.

He stated that the petitions calling for the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo are baseless, adding that no one deserves to be treated in such a manner.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Nana B suggested that Justice Baffoe-Bonnie should not support a deliberate and politically motivated attempt to oust Justice Torkornoo.

“Before Mahama even became President, he preempted the removal of the Chief Justice, and that is why these frivolous petitions are being entertained. If I were Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, I wouldn’t have even accepted the role as Acting Chief Justice because I’m not sure he would be happy if he suffered a similar fate,” he stated.

Nana B further expressed deep concerns over what he described as the silence of the Judicial Service on the matter.

In the wake of Chief Justice Torkornoo’s suspension, widespread reports suggest that Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie is likely to step in as Acting Chief Justice.

Called to the Bar in 1981, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie is the most senior among the nine remaining justices of the Supreme Court.

He worked as a Circuit Court Judge in Kumasi and served as a High Court Judge at Duayaw Nkwanta in the Bono Region.

Before his appointment as a Supreme Court Judge by former President of Ghana John Kufuor in June 2008, he served as an Appeals Court judge.

Ntim Fordjour has concrete evidence, but… Nana B on NIB’s actions [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/ntim-fordjour-has-concrete-evidence-but-nana-b-on-nibs-actions-listen/ Thu, 10 Apr 2025 11:02:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2523631 National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has expressed strong support for Assin South MP, John Ntim Fordjour, following accusations of drug trafficking and money laundering involving two aircraft that reportedly made a stop at Kotoka International Airport.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Nana B stated that Rev. Ntim Fordjour possesses evidence in the case, but criticized the actions of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), who stormed the lawmaker’s home without showing an arrest warrant.

“Rev. Ntim Fordjour has concrete evidence to back his position, but the conduct of the NIB officials is wrong. They should have followed due process,” Nana B stated.

The standoff occurred on April 9, when NIB officials attempted to arrest the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, without following the proper legal channels.

The incident has sparked widespread concern regarding the NIB’s approach.

Nana B questioned why the NIB did not go through the Speaker of Parliament before attempting to arrest the lawmaker at his residence.

“Why didn’t they go through the Speaker of Parliament, as required by the constitution? Even the President has advised that institutions must work to investigate such matters properly,” he said.

He also expressed his disappointment with Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who dismissed concerns over the incident, calling it a “bad precedent.” Nana B stated, “It’s not a joke. If I had sensitive information like this, I wouldn’t feel confident either. Why would they storm his house in such a Rambo-style operation?”

NANA B ON NTIM

The NPP official called for a commission of inquiry into the matter, highlighting the importance of following the correct legal procedures.

“We are law-abiding citizens and expect institutions to respect the process. They must go through the proper channels,” he stated firmly.

He praised Rev. Ntim Fordjour for his resilience in the face of these challenges.

“Ntim is my hero right now. He is strong, resilient, and refuses to be intimidated. He will stand firm,” Nana B said.

He also warned that such actions could backfire, especially if the NDC continues down this path. “If they don’t take care, the NDC will bring shame to President Mahama,” Nana B added.

It’s misleading; I’ll take them on – Nana B slams The Fourth Estate over NSA scandal  https://www.adomonline.com/its-misleading-ill-take-them-on-nana-b-slams-the-fourth-estate-over-nsa-scandal/ Wed, 19 Feb 2025 08:58:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2506087 The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has slammed The Fourth Estate, an investigative platform under the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), over its recent exposé on alleged ghost names at the National Service Authority (NSA).

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Nana B described the report as “reckless and misleading,” accusing The Fourth Estate of failing to verify the data they obtained from the NSA.

“The report they published is nothing but lazy journalism. They failed to conduct due diligence. A simple verification process would have exposed the truth,” he said.

He explained that the NSA recruits service personnel annually from four main categories: students from public and private universities, polytechnics (now technical universities), nurses, and teachers.

According to him, some applicants fail to show up for orientation after being posted, and it is misleading to classify them as ghost names without proper verification.

“It is common for some students to apply for service but never show up. That does not make them ghost names. If The Fourth Estate had done proper checks, they would have known this,” he argued.

Nana B further stated that the NSA operates a biometric system that verifies all applicants through the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS).

“The system is strict. People try to enter with fake identities, but they are detected and cannot proceed. There is no way ghost names can be in the system,” he stressed.

He also pointed out that cases of absentees could be easily verified using student index numbers.

In a strong warning to The Fourth Estate, Nana B vowed to take legal action if they fail to correct their report.

“If they don’t come out with the truth, I will take them on. I will take them to court,” he declared.

He urged The Fourth Estate to adopt a more rigorous and fact-based approach to investigative journalism instead of publishing what he described as “shoddy and unverified reports” that create unnecessary panic.

The directive, issued by the Office of the President and signed by the Chief of Staff, instructed heads of government institutions to annul appointments and recruitments made in the final months of the previous administration.

In his statement of claim filed at the Supreme Court, Nana B argues that the directive is unconstitutional because the Chief of Staff lacks the authority to issue such an order.

He contends that the move directly violates Article 191(b) of the 1992 Constitution, which guarantees job security for public sector workers and protects them from dismissal without just cause.

Nana B is seeking a declaration from the court that the directive is unconstitutional and, therefore, null and void.

He asserts that the President of Ghana has a constitutional obligation under Article 58(2) to uphold the provisions of Article 191(b) and ensure the protection of public servants’ rights. In his view, the directive breaches this obligation, exposing workers to unfair dismissal and undermining public sector job security.

The lawsuit further seeks an injunction to prevent heads of government institutions from implementing the directive, arguing that any action taken in compliance with the directive would be unlawful.

Nana B also requests that the government be ordered to cover all court-related expenses and legal fees associated with the case.

The directive, which has led to significant uncertainty among affected workers, has been met with mixed reactions.

Critics have described the move as politically motivated and an attack on the livelihoods of citizens employed through legitimate processes.

The government, however, maintains that the appointments were irregular and made in bad faith during the transition period.

]]> Nana B’s narrative on different voting days for various presidential candidates false https://www.adomonline.com/nana-bs-narrative-on-different-voting-days-for-various-presidential-candidates-false/ Thu, 05 Dec 2024 12:04:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2479560 Claim: Henry Nana Boakye claims that the various presidential candidates will be voted for on separate voting days.

Verdict: False. Article 46 of the Constitution of Ghana mandates the Electoral Commission of Ghana to organise presidential and parliamentary elections, and the Commission, through its Constitutional Instruments, has declared that both Presidential and Parliamentary elections will be held on Dec. 7, 2024.

Full Text

Ghana has less than three days to go to the polls. Political campaigns have intensified. As Political figures and leaders try to convince voters to support their candidates, electoral misinformation and disinformation are not left out.

In a viral video, Henry Nana Boakye, the NPP’s national organiser, asserted that the various presidential candidates will have separate voting days.

“So please, John Mahama is not part of the voting on the 7th,” he asserted in Twi on a radio program on Wontumi FM, as posted here on X.

Similarly, another individual on the same platform asserted that the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has planned to conduct the election for the first seven candidates on the ballot paper on Dec. 7, while the other candidates will be voted for on different days.

“Because there are many people, the election has been divided into two: we are voting for some people, and then we will vote for others later. We are voting for the first seven candidates first.

“So this is the arrangement: we are voting for the number one on the ballot, Dr Bawumia, on 7th Dec., at 7 am before the others. We may vote for the others the following days,” he asserted on Wontumi Television.

Party communicators of the NPP have propagated a similar narrative on the same media platform. Find here.

Such videos with these narratives have the potential to misinform and disinform, as well as disenfranchise social media users who may believe it. DUBAWA decided to investigate the claim.

Verification

It is necessary to establish what the Ghanaian electoral laws posit regarding voting days. Under Article 45(c) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, the EC is the only institution to conduct and supervise all public elections and referenda.

This is corroborated by Article 51, which empowers the EC  to make regulations to ensure they undertake their functions effectively.

The EC made the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 C. I 127, to regulate the conduct of elections in 2020 and beyond until it is revoked.

Regulation 4 (1) of the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 C. I. 127 states,

“For the purpose of a public election, the commission shall issue a writ of elections to the returning officer.”

“The writ shall be set out in Form One A and Form One E of the schedule and shall specify (a) the period and place for the nomination of candidates;  and  (b) the day on which the poll is to be taken,” sub-regulation 2 of the regulation 4 of the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I. 127) states.

In an official EC presser on Nov 24, 202, the commission reiterated that the date set out for the election 2024 is Dec. 7.

“Voters are reminded that voting on the 7th of December 2024 starts from 7 am until 5 pm,” the presser stated.

Conclusion

Article 45 (C) states that the EC is the only institution mandated to conduct and supervise all public elections and referenda.

The EC has stated emphatically that elections in 2024 will be held on Dec. 7 from 7 am to 5 pm. The narrative that the various candidates will have different voting days is false.

2024 Elections: NPP ready to sign peace pact – Nana B [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/2024-elections-npp-ready-to-sign-peace-pact-nana-b-audio/ Thu, 28 Nov 2024 08:04:09 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2476751 The National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has confirmed that the NPP is ready to sign a peace pact to ensure a peaceful electoral process ahead of the December 7 elections.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, November 28, Nana B said that the party has been committed to peace for some time now and is prepared to sign the agreement again.

“We have signed for some time now, and we are ready to sign again. Our expectation is that we will show leadership in preserving the unity of the country as we head into these elections,” he said.

The peace pact, which will be signed by all political parties and their presidential candidates, is designed to ensure that candidates commit to maintaining peace before, during, and after the elections.

Nana B also urged the security forces to take necessary action to prevent any violence during the election process.

“As political leaders, we will do our part, and the Electoral Commission (EC) will also do its part to ensure smooth elections,” he added.

He reiterated the NPP’s commitment to a peaceful election.

“We have had peace for years, and we will continue to ensure that nothing will happen. It is important that we avoid anything that could bring chaos,” he stated.

In his message to the media, Nana B called on journalists to remain vigilant in ensuring peace throughout the election period.

“The media must ensure there is peace and avoid spreading anything that could create unrest,” he urged.

Nana B also predicted victory for the NPP in the upcoming elections.

“The NDC will lose the 2024 elections, and they can’t do anything about it,” he stated confidently.

NANA B ON PEACE PACT

However, there is uncertainty regarding the participation of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The party’s Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has previously indicated that the NDC may not partake in the peace pact, citing concerns about previous election-related violence.

The NPP National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, made the claims at a press conference on Wednesday.

He claimed the recruitment was being carried out, particularly in the NPP’s strongholds, though he did not mention any specific areas.

However, Nana B emphasized that such efforts will not succeed, as the NPP remains vigilant.

He further stated that the NPP has worked diligently to communicate its message to the Ghanaian people and is confident that its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will be elected president on December 7.

This follows allegations by the NDC that President Akufo-Addo has tasked the General Officer Commanding the Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier-General Michael Opoku, to rig the election in the Ashanti Region for the NPP.

The NDC Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, further alleged that the officer has been promised the position of Chief of Defence Staff if the NPP wins the 2024 election.

Mr. Gyamfi also alleged that the NDC has received intelligence that Brigadier-General Opoku is training NPP thugs at the Asutuare military camp.

According to him, Hon. Afenyo-Markin’s leadership during the recent controversy over vacant seats in Parliament exemplifies competence and exceptional guidance.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s political talk show Ekosiisen, hosted by Osei Bonsu Esq., Nana B expressed gratitude to Afenyo-Markin for bringing finality to the parliamentary impasse through the court.

“I want to acknowledge the great and competent leadership of Afenyo-Markin for bringing finality to the impasse in Parliament through the court. This is the strong leadership we need in the party. Afenyo-Markin is sharp and visionary in how he handled the entire issue,” he said.

Nana B, however, urged the Speaker of Parliament to accept the court’s ruling and recall the House as a matter of urgency to address critical government business.

“I urge Mr. Speaker to show leadership, recall Parliament, sit with leadership, and resolve every impasse in the nation’s interest. As an officer of the court, Speaker Bagbin should obey the court’s ruling and conclude his tenure without any chaos,” he added.

NDC’s demo was a waste of time – Nana B [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/ndcs-demo-was-a-waste-of-time-nana-b-audio/ Tue, 17 Sep 2024 19:45:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2450243 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has taken a swipe at the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) demonstration against the Electoral Commission (EC).

Nana B as he is popularly known has said the protest was a waste of time and resources.

The NDC on Tuesday led a nationwide protest, involving thousands of Ghanaians with the exercise replicated nationwide.

The march was to demand that the EC conduct a forensic audit of the voter register ahead of the 2024 elections despite the EC’s decline and describing it as unnecessary.

Reacting to the exercise, Nana B on Asempa FM Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, acknowledged that demonstration is a significant and democratic tool through which citizens can express divergent views.

However, he said the NDC could have channeled the time for demonstration to actively campaign and canvass for votes ahead of December 7.

“The EC is an independent body established by law with the authority to audit the voter register so how can the NDC ask that the EC’s data should be given to another body?” he quizzed.

Nana B argued that, the NDC’s broad claims of over 200,000 illegal transfers should be supported with evidence and should not be mere hearsay due to its severity.

Nana B slams Mahama’s call for protest against EC https://www.adomonline.com/nana-b-slams-mahamas-call-for-protest-against-ec/ Wed, 11 Sep 2024 08:43:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2447115 The National Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has slammed National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama for urging his party’s supporters to protest at all district offices of the Electoral Commission (EC) on September 17, 2024.

Mahama’s call for a protest follows concerns from the NDC over alleged discrepancies in the voter register, which they claim could jeopardize the integrity of the 2024 general elections.

The announcement was made during a press briefing after Mahama filed his nomination for the presidential race.

Addressing supporters in Sampa, Jaman North District of the Bono Region, Mahama emphasized the need for accountability and transparency from the EC.

“If we desire free, fair, and peaceful elections, then the EC must up their game and do things right. On the 17th of this month [September], the NDC will demonstrate in every town with an EC office. Our chairman [Johnson Asiedu Nketiah] has announced it,” Mahama declared.

In response, Nana B condemned Mahama’s remarks in an interview with Joy FM, stating that the call for a protest is “reckless and unnecessary.”

He argued, “The former President is gaining notoriety for making comments that aim to create chaos. This protest is unwarranted because the process involves reviewing the voter register and reporting any irregularities to the EC, which is legally obligated to address them.”

Nana B added, “It is unfortunate and reckless for a former president to suggest that the EC is planning to rig the election for the NPP. The EC is constitutionally mandated to handle such issues appropriately.”

NDC wants to reject election results – Nana B on refusal to sign peace pact https://www.adomonline.com/ndc-wants-to-reject-election-results-nana-b-on-refusal-to-sign-peace-pact/ Fri, 16 Aug 2024 13:37:55 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2434903 The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye has expressed disappointment over the NDC’s refusal to sign a peace declaration ahead of the upcoming election.

He criticized the decision, calling it reckless, arguing that the reasons provided by the NDC do not align with the reality that the election will be fair and peaceful.

This follows a declaration by NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, that the party would not be signing any peace declaration in the lead-up to the elections.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, Asiedu Nketia voiced doubts about the effectiveness of such pacts, citing the lack of tangible outcomes from similar agreements in the past.

“Signing a peace declaration doesn’t mean anything to the party, as previous pacts have not yielded any real results,” he said.

In response, Mr Boakye, speaking on Joy FM’s News Night on Thursday, August 15, said, “It is unfortunate that the NDC does not want to sign.

“Frankly speaking, I believe this reckless statement should be condemned by all, as it stokes unnecessary tension.”

Mr Boakye also pointed out that similar peace processes have been undertaken multiple times in the past, including in 2008 when the NPP was in power and lost the election after signing the peace accord.

“In 2012, we were in opposition, signed the accord, and lost again. The same happened in 2016. Even then, during an important occasion organized by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, all presidential candidates, including Nana Addo Akufo-Addo, signed the peace pact. So, what has changed now to prompt such a reckless statement from the NDC’s National Chairman?” he questioned.

He further argued that if he were to list all the violent incidents associated with the NDC, he would not finish speaking within the programme’s time.

“Chereponi is a clear example. The fact that we have experienced pockets of violence does not justify the NDC’s refusal to sign the peace pact. This stance suggests they are laying the groundwork to reject the election results because they know they are going to lose,” he asserted.

Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, however, defended the NDC’s decision, stating that preventing violence requires proactive measures rather than symbolic gestures. “If you allow violence to brew, it will happen whether you sign a declaration or not. That’s why, more than a year ago, I started talking about the need to remove the building blocks for a violent election,” he explained.

Mr Boakye remains confident that the upcoming election will be peaceful, fair, and credible, with the NPP emerging victorious.

“Look, if Hon. Bryan Acheampong is confident that the NPP party will win this election and some people want to spin his words, that’s their problem. And you expect Bryan Acheampong on a campaign platform to say we’re going to lose?” he quizzed.

He also defended Mr Acheampong’s controversial statement, where he asserted that the NPP would use any means necessary to win the 2024 election.

Ambulance trial: The double standards of the NDC is regrettable – Nana B https://www.adomonline.com/ambulance-trial-the-double-standards-of-the-ndc-is-regrettable-nana-b/ Wed, 31 Jul 2024 13:06:06 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2428026 The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, widely known as Nana B, has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, and his party for their comments regarding the Court of Appeal’s decision in the ambulance case.

This criticism comes after the third accused in the ambulance procurement trial, Richard Jakpa, and Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson, were acquitted and discharged of the charges of causing financial loss to the State on Tuesday, July 30.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Mahama praised the court’s decision to acquit and discharge the former Deputy Finance Minister, calling it a victory for the rule of law.

He expressed satisfaction with the court’s ruling, suggesting it confirmed his belief that the case was a form of political persecution.

This decision has been celebrated by Minority MPs, who have consistently supported Dr Forson throughout the trial.

However, Nana B also in a Facebook post on Wednesday, criticized the NDC and Mahama for praising the judiciary when the decision favoured them, accusing them of double standards.

He described their actions as “regrettable” and detrimental to democracy.

Nana B expressed hope that, the NDC and Mahama would not change their stance if the Supreme Court were to reverse the Court of Appeal’s decision.

“Suddenly, John Mahama and the NDC are singing the praises of the judiciary they have bastardised and maligned for several years. Suddenly, the rule of law is at work because they have won. Suddenly, the court is no longer an appendage of government. Suddenly, the judges appointed by Akufo-Addo are not partisan.
“The double standards of the NDC is regrettable and does not bode well for our democracy. While the AG disagree with the decision of the Court, we accept it in good faith and hope Mr. Mahama and the NDC do not change their chorus should the decision of the Court of Appeal be reversed by the Supreme Court,” Nana B wrote.

Mr. Gbande argued that, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not a credible candidate to debate NDC flagbearer, former President John Mahama.

“Bawumia was overhyped and lacks the credibility to debate Mahama. He is running away from the economic mess he helped create. If he and his team have copied our programs and engaged constituencies, they should use that platform to account to the people” he said.

The NDC deputy General Secretary also accused Dr. Bawumia of intellectual dishonesty.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if his doctoral title is stripped away due to his dishonesty. He has lied about various issues, and someone like him cannot be allowed to debate Mahama” he said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday.

He however criticized the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) for not consulting the NDC before announcing the debates.

GBANDE ON IEA

But Nana B, reacting to the development on the same show, argued that there is no reason to fear the debate.

“The IEA has not even set a date, so why should we be afraid? The debate will expose them,” Nana B said.

He dismissed claims that Mr. Mahama is unprepared for the debate.

“Mahama should come and account to Ghanaians. The debate is a platform where he must defend his record. We have made significant improvements in the economy, and we are ready to defend our achievements”.

To him, the former President is running away from the debate because Dr. Bawumia will expose his incompetence.

“The NPP has transformed the economy, and the NDC cannot match our progress. We are focused and Bawumia is prepared to present his vision” he added.

Ambulance case: You can’t take falsehood into the courtroom – Nana B to Ato Forson https://www.adomonline.com/ambulance-case-you-cant-take-falsehood-into-the-courtroom-nana-b-to-ato-forson/ Thu, 06 Jun 2024 18:36:57 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2405710 The National Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticised the Minority Leader and former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr Ato Forson for introducing what he says are irrelevant matters into the controversial ambulance procurement trial.

According to Henry Nana Boakye, the High Court’s decision to dismiss Dr Cassiel Ato Forson’s application to declare the case a mistrial is appropriate.

“I think first of all, this is what we’ve been saying all this while, that you cannot churn falsehood outside in the public domain, and think you can transfer such falsehood into the courtroom?” he quizzed.

It follows numerous applications filed by the first accused person and the third accused, Richard Jakpa.

The applications are an order of inquiry into the conduct of the Attorney-General following the allegations made by Richard Jakpa to the effect that the A-G has been calling him at odd hours; an order of mistrial with the aim of terminating the case; a stay of proceedings until the application is determined; and a motion asking the court to strike out charges against the businessman.

The Minority Leader and former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson filed three of the motions while the businessman filed the last one.

Speaking to journalists after Thursday’s hearing, Nana B described Dr Ato Forson’s arguments as untruths that were never going to stand in the face of the law.

“I mean, I’ve always said this, and today, they have been exposed badly. And all the applications, they filed were dismissed,” he said.

In his affidavit filed on May 31, Dr Ato Forson highlighted concerns regarding the leaked tape, which he believes demonstrates professional misconduct on the part of the AG.

But in a subsequent motion, the AG’s office insisted that these form part of attempts by the accused persons to evade justice.

In court today, Thursday, Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe dismissed the prayer for a mistrial.

She explained that the Minority Leader did not show provisions that warrant a mistrial in this case nor probe the AG’s action.

On the issue of an inquiry into the allegations of calls from the Attorney-General to Mr Jakpa at odd hours, Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe determined that the request has no legal backing.

Godfred Dame won’t resign today nor tomorrow – Nana B insists https://www.adomonline.com/godfred-dame-wont-resign-today-nor-tomorrow-nana-b-insists/ Thu, 30 May 2024 10:09:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2402168 The National Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has firmly stated that the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame will not succumb to calls for his resignation, despite pressure from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other concerned citizens.

Mr Boakye dismissed the demands as unfounded and maintained that Yeboah Dame remains resolute in his position.

Speaking in an interview with Citi TV on Wednesday, May 29, Nana Boakye reiterated his support for Yeboah Dame, emphasising that there are no grounds for his resignation today or in the foreseeable future.

He attributed the calls for resignation to what he termed as baseless allegations and stressed the Attorney General’s commitment to his duties.

Nana Boakye also accused the NDC of engaging in diversionary tactics, suggesting that their focus on Yeboah Dame’s resignation stems from fears regarding the legal troubles of the Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.

In his assessment, Yeboah Dame’s performance as Attorney General merits commendation rather than criticism, as he perceives the AG to be executing his duties admirably.

“I can confirm to you that this tape is doctored and Godfred Yeboah Dame will not resign today nor tomorrow. He will continue to remain the Attorney-General of this country because he is doing a fantastic job for this country,”he insisted.

NDC stirred controversy on Tuesday with the release of an alleged audio recording purported to be a conversation between Attorney General Godfred Dame and Richard Jakpa, the third accused person in the contentious ambulance purchase trial.

Mr Jakpa claimed that the Attorney General had solicited his assistance in building a case against former Deputy Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.

In response to these allegations and the subsequent call for his resignation by the NDC, Attorney General Godfred Dame remains steadfast in his position.

Deputy Attorney-General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has raised doubts about the authenticity of the audio tape released by the NDC, questioning the basis for the party’s demand for Dame’s resignation.

Mr Tuah-Yeboah emphasised that the Attorney General stands firm and is determined to continue executing his duties.

He dismissed the NDC’s assertions, asserting that there is no substantiated reason for Dame to step down from his position.

“It is not confirmed whether what we have is an authentic audio. That’s the first thing. The second thing is that the Attorney General is very resolute, very firm, very healthy and is undertaking his duties as Attorney General. He is currently out of the jurisdiction and very soon he will be back to continue his duties as Attorney General,” he said.

“There is no doubt that the Attorney General had a conversation with the third accused, as you’ve heard from our spokesperson. Very true, circumstances led to that kind of conversation and we think nothing untoward was said.”

Why NDC cannot tender alleged tape in ambulance case to court – Nana B discloses [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/why-ndc-cannot-tender-alleged-tape-in-ambulance-case-to-court-nana-b-discloses-listen/ Wed, 29 May 2024 09:05:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2401493 The National Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye has explained why the National Democratic Congress (NDC) cannot submit the alleged tape recording between Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame and the third accused in the ambulance case, Richard Jakpa, to the court.

According to him, the NDC is aware that the tape is doctored and understands the consequences of submitting such evidence.

In his view, despite filing a motion for a mistrial, the NDC has not included the tape as evidence in court.

“The moment they tender the tape, it will be a subject for forensic analysis. Voice experts will come in and determine the facts,” he said.

He added that, recording someone without their knowledge and using it as evidence in court is illegal.

“You cannot record someone without their knowledge and use it as evidence in court. That’s why they want to muddy the waters,” Nana B noted.

He made this known in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Wednesday.

This comes after the NPP dismissed as doctored, the tape recording presented by the NDC seeking to corroborate allegations that the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame has been unethical in his prosecution of Jakpa and two others in the Ambulance procurement case.

The NDC said the audio recording is a conversation between the third accused person (Richard Jakpa) and the Attorney-General.

But Nana B as he is affectionately called said the NDC is trying to create confusion by not presenting the full tape, implying that parts of the conversation have been removed or edited to suit their agenda.

“They have heavily edited most of the conversation to suit their agenda. Where is the rest of the tape? They have gotten rid of some of the conversation” he added.

These are the words of the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Patriotic Party (NPP) Henry Nana Boakye amidst the controversy regarding the ambulance purchase trial.

Nana B sounded the word of caution in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, on Tuesday.

He stated that, the NPP also has a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage to prove that their threats are not empty.

“There has been pressure from all quarters of the NDC for the Attorney General to accept the plea bargain and discontinue the case.

Ato Forson himself went to the Attorney General’s home in the course of the trial. If they want, they can dare us and we will issue the CCTV footage. The good thing is he was with someone, so we will mention the name and the person will confirm,” he stated.

Richard Jakpa in court last Thursday alleged that, Godfred Dame had approached him multiple times, seeking his assistance to implicate Dr. Ato Forson.

Dr. Forson, a former Deputy Finance Minister and current Minority Leader, is facing legal action by the state for his alleged involvement in procuring faulty ambulances for Ghana.

The Attorney-General however dismissed Jakpa’s claims, asserting instead that Jakpa had sent several letters requesting a plea bargain in an attempt to have the charges against all accused persons dropped.

But the proposal has not been accepted yet.

Meanwhile, the NDC is insisting Mr Jakpa did not lie and has promised to provide video evidence to expose Mr Dame at a press conference today, May 28.

Voter registration: Nana B visits victim of Kukuom disturbance https://www.adomonline.com/voter-registration-nana-b-visits-victim-of-kukuom-disturbance/ Wed, 15 May 2024 21:00:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2395557 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has visited the young man who sustained injuries in the violence that marred the voter registration exercise at Kukuom in the Asunafo South Constituency in the Ahafo Region.

The victim is currently on admission at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital.

Henry Nana Boakye’s visit on Wednesday morning was part of his monitoring activities in the ongoing exercise.

Nana B as he is popularly called motivated NPP supporters and assured them of unflinching support in the face of the violence and thuggery by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a Facebook post, he claimed he has been informed that the Police had released the vehicles used by these thugs in that barbaric action.

“These vehicles included a white Toyota Tundra with registration number BA-8008-20 belonging to Hon. Collins Dauda, a red Toyota Hilux with registration number GN-3272-15, an unregistered red Camry Spider, a Nissan Assent salon car, and a black and yellow Dodge 4×4.

“It is surprising that the police in the Ahafo Region could release vehicles used in such criminal activities to their owners, and I trust that the Police leadership at the headquarters will act quickly on this subject,” he alleged.

Meanwhile, chiefs in the area have invoked curses on the perpetrators and sponsors of the violence that occurred last Saturday.

The incident left one person seriously injured during the ongoing limited registration exercise in the town.

At a press conference, the chiefs expressed their concern, poured libations, and performed other sacrifices.

The Dwafohene, Nana Oteng Boateng described as unacceptable the violence being perpetrated by gun-wielding thugs who are not from the town.

Their conduct, he stated is giving Kukuom a bad name therefore they have summoned these individuals to the ancestors and all water bodies within the Kukuom enclave to deal with them mercilessly.

NPP Parliamentary candidates will be given targets in 2024 elections – Nana B https://www.adomonline.com/npp-parliamentary-candidates-will-be-given-targets-in-2024-elections-nana-b/ Fri, 22 Mar 2024 09:34:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2371948 The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye says the party’s parliamentary candidates would be allocated targets in the upcoming general elections.

He said this was aimed at enticing the PCs and ensuring that they do not defer from campaigning for votes after being allocated the necessary resources with the mindset that the NPP is not popular in their constituency.

Mr. Boakye was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Volta Regional Campaign Team at the NPP regional secretariat in Ho.

“Let me on the authority of His Excellency, the next President and the 2024 leadership of the campaign team inform you that you are going to be given targets”, he said.

He added that the national campaign team would analyze the performance of the NPP in each of the constituencies, the voting pattern and arrive at achievable targets to break the 8.

He asserted that votes from every constituency are important as it would compound to eventually help the Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia win the elections and retain the NPP in power.

“For instance, if you achieve your target, even if you lose the election, in our books you have won the election. If at the end of the day, you do not achieve your target, but then you win your constituency, in our books you have lost. Do you know why, because we want parliamentary [votes] and we want presidential [votes] as well”, he stressed.

Mr. Boakye said that PCs who achieve their targets would merit appointments in the government of Dr. Bawumia.

He entreated the Constituency Executives and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives to desist from undermining their PC and join forces with them to canvas for votes ahead of the elections.

“Please, this is a request from His Excellency the Vice President, in unity we shall prevail, it is important that we work together to make sure that we achieve our targets”, he said.

Mr. Boakye expressed optimism that the Volta Region under the leadership of the Regional Chairman, Makafui Woanyah would witness an appreciation in votes in the December 7th general elections.

Limited voter registration: Nana B praises EC https://www.adomonline.com/limited-voter-registration-nana-b-praises-ec/ Mon, 18 Sep 2023 10:06:01 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2295242 National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye says he is impressed with the ongoing limited voter registration exercise conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Per his assessment, the process has been going smoothly although there are slight technical challenges.

“Yesterday I visited some district offices to assess the registration exercise. The officers were working tirelessly and I think it’s commendable” the NPP Youth leader said.

He urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to keep calm as their concerns over the exercise will be addressed.

Nana B held the view that, even with the right machines, not all persons who have turned 18 years and above can get registered in this limited exercise.

Meanwhile, the NDC has accused the EC of deploying faulty and dysfunctional machines to its strongholds, in an attempt to disenfranchise some voters.

The limited registration exercise began on Tuesday, September 12, despite an injunction filed by the NDC and four other parties.

The 21-day exercise is expected to end on October 09, 2023.

To him, Mr Mahama should return his ex-gratia and other benefits to the state as a sign of good faith that he will fulfil his promise to scrap it when elected as president.

“When he was launching his campaign he should have brought a cheque of his ex gratia and emoluments he receives as a former president to the people of Ghana. Then you’ll be taken seriously,” he said on Accra-based Neat FM.

According to him, Mr Mahama had the opportunity to fulfil his campaign promises yet he failed woefully.

Mr Mahama’s track record to Nana B as he is popularly known proves that he has nothing to offer and cannot fix the country.

“What I’m saying is former President Mahama is widely known. If former President John Mahama was president in these times, Ghanaians would be dead. We’ve seen what he can do. He created a man-made pandemic ‘Dumsor Dumsor’. Despite the hardship, at least we still have our lights on.

In their view, Nana B’s victory will help to continue the legacies of his predecessor, Sammi Awuku aka Senior Capo.

“His numerous achievements as the National Youth Organiser is why we the Diaspora Branch have come together to endorse fully lawyer Henry Nana Boakye to step into the shoes of his boss the Senior Capo Sammi Awuku as the Next National Organiser of our dear party in order to break the eight-year cycle of governance in elections 2024,” they declared.

The organisers, who have declared their unflinching support, are the NPP’s organisers for Canada, Austria, South Korea, China, Japan, Cote D’ivoire, Nigeria and Spain.

Others include; Denmark, South Africa Organiser, Middle East, Belgium, Germany, and France.

The rest are Finland, United Kingdom, Italy, United States of America, Holland and
Togo.

These were contained in a statement signed by the Convenor, Oheneba Quame Danso Jnr who’s the South Korea Branch Organiser and doubles as Dean of Asia Pacific Organisers Caucus.

The statement noted Nana B’s endless love and affection for the grassroots and base which is the pivot of the party as the National Youth Organiser brought in youth to work vigorously and aggressively towards the NPP’s reelection in 2020.

“We know in our political dispensation that currently the youth dominate 2/3 of the voting population before elections 2020, but Nana B as the National Youth Organiser together with his 16 Regional Youth Organisers and their deputies as well as the 275 Constituency Youth Organisers and their deputies came together in organising programmes that will bring the entire youth on board to protect the affable and visionary policies and programmes implemented by Akufo-Addo and Bawumia,”part of the statement read.

They have, therefore, appealed to all party delegates in Ghana to rally behind and vote massively for Nana B.

“Looking at the political personalities in Ghana, he occupies a big space on social media and I will want to encourage him to continue. He has already won the race and I wish to ask my friend in Tema East not to waste his time,” he said amid laughter.

He added: “From all indications, the good people of Assin North are ever ready to give the seat to the NPP.

Sammy Gyamfi, Nana B clash over Assin North ruling https://www.adomonline.com/sammy-gyamfi-nana-b-clash-over-assin-north-ruling/ Thu, 29 Jul 2021 19:48:49 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1994117 National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, and the Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, Henry Nana Boakye, have clashed over the ruling in the Assin North case.

The Cape Coast High Court annulled the results of the 2020 parliamentary elections in the Assin North constituency.

The court, presided over by Justice Kwasi Boakye, ordered for fresh elections to be conducted in the constituency.

But the two, who are lawyers, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, held diverse opinions on the ruling.

Nana Boakye said they were satisfied with the Cape Coast High Court’s order for fresh election at Assin North constituency in the Central Region.

To him, the rule of law came to play in the judge, Justice Kwasi Boakye’s ruling on the case which makes the annulment a step in the right direction.

Nana B, as he is widely known, stressed that the Assin North legislator, Joe Gyakye Quayson, had not fully renounced his Canadian citizenship at the time of filing his nomination for the election per a statutory declaration he was required to make.

However, Mr Gyamfi refuted his claims, stating the judge erred, considering the grounds under which a High Court can annul a Parliamentary election.

He argued that Mr Quayson was duly qualified to contest in the parliamentary election which took place on December 7, 2020, and described the judgment as flawed.

RELATED:

He further blamed the court’s registrar, Ustaz Hamza for the woes of the MP claiming he refused to show up or open the registry.

This, he said, would have enabled lawyers of the embattled MP to file the motion for the trial judge to refer the case to the Supreme Court.

He noted that the party will consider an appeal and apply “for a Stay of Execution of the orders of the trial” as part of remedies available.

Oppong Nkrumah, Nana B not inciting Supreme Court against your lawyers – NDC told https://www.adomonline.com/oppong-nkrumah-nana-b-not-inciting-supreme-court-against-your-lawyers-ndc-told/ Fri, 19 Feb 2021 19:10:06 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1922451 The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed claims that Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Henry Nana Boakye are inciting Justices of the Supreme Court against lawyers of the Petitioner in the ongoing Election Petition case.

According to the party, the claims are blatant falsehoods that must be rejected by Ghanaians.

This comes on the back of a statement from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) which accused the duo of turning the Supreme Court Judges against Dr Dominic Ayine and lead counsel and subjecting them to attacks.

According to the NDC, the NPP team had used their media briefing after each court proceeding to launch attacks against the counsel for former President John Mahama and further incite the court against the former Deputy Attorney General, Dr Ayine.

However, the statement, signed by the Director of Communications, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, said: “Dr Ayine has in the past been warned by the court for his conduct aimed at disparaging the Supreme Court.”

RELATED:

The statement added: “It is an affront to the apex court of the land for the NDC to suggest that the venerable, experienced and learned Justices of the Supreme Court who, over time, have demonstrated to be independent and objective are amenable to ‘incitement’ by spokespersons of the 2nd Respondent.”

Read the full statement below:

RE: ATTEMPTS BY KOJO OPPONG-NKRUMAH AND HENRY NANA BOAKYE TO INCITE THE SUPREME COURT AGAINST NDC LAWYERS

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken notice of a press release from the NDC that seeks to create the false impression that the Supreme Court is being “INCITED” to cite Dr Dominic Ayine for Contempt and also the lead Counsel of the Petitioner has been subjected to attacks by Hon. Kojo Oppong- Nkrumah Esq. and Henry Nana Boakye Esq.

The NPP takes strong exception to the plain lies therein and without a shred of equivocation, state:

1. It is an affront to the apex court of the land for the NDC to suggest that the venerable, experienced and learned Justices of the Supreme Court (SC) who, over time, have demonstrated to be independent and objective are amenable to “INCITEMENT” by spokespersons of the 2nd Respondent.

2. The claim that Hon. Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah Esq. and Henry Nana Boakye Esq. seek to incite the SC against Dr Dominic Ayine is a blatant falsehood that must be rejected by Ghanaians.

3. The unfortunate comments from Dr Dominic Ayine that “for the Supreme Court to reduce the Petition into a single issue Petition is rather unfortunate and smacks of a predetermined agenda to rule against the Petitioner in this matter…we think that the court by this decision has not done the people of this country a great service. In the sense that Ghanaians are interested in knowing the truth…the Justices, today, has not given us a reason to believe that they want the people of this country to know the truth about what happened” were voluntarily uttered by Dr Ayine and he is solely responsible for its consequences.

4. Dr Ayine has in the past been warned by the court for his conduct aimed at disparaging the Supreme Court.

5. The suggestion that the Lawyers and Spokespersons of the 2nd Respondent have been attacking, insulting and belittling the lead Counsel of the Petitioner is a plain falsehood, mischievously crafted to solicit public sympathy for the legal team of the Petitioner to conceal their poor performance, evident from the dismissals almost every major motion/application they have filed has suffered thus far.

6. The regrettable attitude of the lead Counsel of the Petitioner towards the bench has been a matter of public outrage and it is not correct to suggest that it is the lawyers or spokespersons of the 2nd Respondent that have made a case out of it.

7. It is utterly shocking for the National Communications Officer of the NDC who, over the years, have persistently insulted and disrespected President Akufo-Addo – someone whose legal and political achievements, the former may never be able to attain in his entire life – to lament and suggest that the spokespersons of the 2nd Respondent ought to show deference to seniors at the Bar when in actual fact, there hasn’t been any act of disrespect on the part of the 2nd Respondent’s team towards the Petitioner’s lawyers or spokespersons.

8. We encourage the NDC team to focus on explaining to their supporters why the statistics they earlier claimed were in their favour have been abandoned in court.

9. We also admonish them to desist from misinforming the public on developments in court and also refrain from their penchant to create a false impression that the court is biased against them.

10. The Spokespersons for the 2nd Respondent’s legal team will remain forthright and continuously inform the public on the truth about developments in court and not hesitate to respond adequately to the NDC propaganda.

Thank you

Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, Esq.

(National Communications Director, NPP)

Petition Hearing: Nana B sends message to Kpessa-Whyte https://www.adomonline.com/petition-hearing-nana-b-sends-message-to-kpessa-whyte/ Thu, 04 Feb 2021 21:59:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1915107
The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Boakye, known as Nana B, has described the National Democratic Congress (NDC) agents, who were at the national collation centre for the December polls, as lazy.

He also argued the work was above the capabilities of the agents; Rojo Mettle-Nunoo and Dr Michael Kpessa-Whyte.

Nana B, who is one of the spokespersons for the governing NPP with regards to the 2020 election petition, alleged that these agents are the reason they are in court.

According to him, Dr Kpessa-Whyte and Mr Mettle-Nunoo are not serious because before the election the NDC claimed the Electoral Commission’s chairperson, Mrs Jean Mensa, could not organise free, fair and credible election.

Hence, doesn’t understand why they would leave the collation centre out of faith at that crucial time on the basis of being instructed by her.

“Kpessa-Whyte said he left his phone charger at home and when they were instructed to go and see former president Mahama he left his laptop too at the collation centre so what figures were they going to present to him ?” he asked.

Nana B, in an interview on Adom FM’s Burning Issue on Wednesday, said the two men were trusted and sent to represent their party so he doesn’t know why they would allow themselves to be deceived.

He said: “I would be very sad for sending these men to represent the NDC if I were former president Mahama.”

He stated he believes the 2020 election petition would help Ghanaians learn and also he is expecting some electoral reforms in the end.

Sammy Gyamfi speaks on second chance given NDC by Supreme Court https://www.adomonline.com/sammy-gyamfi-speaks-on-second-chance-given-ndc-by-supreme-court/ Tue, 26 Jan 2021 20:53:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1910784 The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of deliberate attempts to defy the Supreme Court in the election petition hearing.

According to Nana B, as he is popularly known, the posture and gestures of the party since the beginning of the Supreme Court proceedings are evident enough.

”The Justices of the court were very furious today and their body language said it all but at the end of the day, the NDC will accuse the court of sacrificing justice for expediency,” he said.

Reacting to the development on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Nana B indicated the actions of the opposition were deliberate to put the apex court in a bad light in the eyes of the public.

However, the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, who also spoke on the same show, took exceptions to Nana B’s claims.

Though he admitted the Justices expressed concerns over their failure to file the witnesses, he added they were soothed by explanations given by their lawyers, Tony Lithur and Tsatsu Tsikata.

“They did not think our action was to spite them and that was why they gave us one more day because no court will give chances to deviants,” he noted.

His comment comes after the petitioner, John Mahama and his lawyers failed to comply with an earlier directive issued last week to file the witness processes by January 21, 2021, to enable hearing of the substantive matter to commence today [January 26, 2021].

The petitioners have, meanwhile, been given another chance to file their witness statements by close of Wednesday, January 27, 2021, which the NPP has described as lenient.

The Big Youth Debate: Nana B, Pablo clash over jobs creation https://www.adomonline.com/the-big-youth-debate-nana-b-pablo-clash-over-jobs-creation/ Mon, 17 Aug 2020 18:50:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1842092 National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) George Opare Addo and New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Henry Nana Boakye have clashed over jobs created by their respective parties.

The duo, speaking on the maiden Big Youth Debate on Asempa FM’s Ekosii sen, each laid claim to having a better record of creating jobs for Ghana’s youth.

NPP’s Nana B listed the One District One Factory, NABCO recruitment, the Youth Employment Agency, the Dawhenya Green house among others as policies implemented by the Akufo-Addo government to help the youth.

He noted the incumbent government lifted a ban that was on the recruitment of public sector jobs which had led to the employment of about 124, 000 at Cocobod and a relatively huge number under the local government.

However, the NDC’s Pablo argued the numbers presented by Nana B do not match the reality on the ground.

ALSO READ:

He stressed the policies were not life-transforming enough, adding the youth have lost hope and want change.

He indicated the NDC acknowledges there is a job deficit in the country but if the NPP believes they have done so well, then it is shocking people are still complaining about jobs.
