In a statement dated May 13, 2026, management of the company said remarks made by Mr. Opoku on Hitz FM were not based on adequate due diligence and created a misleading impression about the operations of the hostel facility.

According to the statement, although the hostel is a Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) investment, the day-to-day operations, tenancy arrangements, pricing structures and management decisions are independently handled by Ghana Hostels Limited.

Management expressed concern over comments which allegedly portrayed the institution as insensitive to the welfare of students and young people.

“While we respect the right of individuals and media platforms to express opinions on matters of public interest, it is equally important that such commentary is fair, factual and balanced,” the statement said.

The company further stressed that public commentary on such issues must be guided by accuracy, fairness and responsible engagement.

Clarifying its pricing structure, Ghana Hostels Limited stated that standard accommodation for four students in a room costs GH¢7,392 annually at the Old Pentagon Hostel and GH¢8,876 annually at the New Pentagon Hostel per student.

According to management, the amounts translate to approximately GH¢821.33 and GH¢986.22 per month respectively, inclusive of water, electricity quota and GH¢100 JCR dues.

The company argued that compared to rates charged by private hostels within the enclave, Pentagon Hostel remains one of the most affordable accommodation facilities on campus.

“The impression created that SSNIT is exploiting students is wholly inaccurate and without basis,” the statement added.

Addressing references to a GH¢28,000 hostel charge mentioned during the programme, management clarified that no such amount exists within the standard pricing structure.

However, it explained that a limited number of premium rooms fitted with additional amenities such as air conditioning and queen-size beds are available for students who opt for extra comfort.

“These rooms constitute below five per cent of the total number of rooms at the hostel and are mostly patronised by a limited number of students who insist on extra features offered strictly as optional accommodation choices,” the statement noted.

Management further disclosed that four-in-one standard rooms constitute more than 65 per cent of total rooms at the facility, while two-in-one rooms make up about 30 per cent.

The statement also clarified that hostel fees are charged per academic year and not per semester as allegedly suggested by the Acting Rent Commissioner.

Ghana Hostels Limited reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and constructive engagement with stakeholders on issues of national interest.

In a statement issued on Friday, May 8, the NPP described the comments as “vicious” and accused the NDC of remaining silent despite what it termed insults directed at a respected former head of state.

“This is not politics. This is desecration,” the party stated.

The opposition party praised former President Kufuor for his contribution to Ghana’s democratic and economic development during his time in office.

According to the statement, Mr. Kufuor helped stabilise the economy, strengthened democratic governance, and earned admiration both locally and internationally.

“President Kufuor rescued this nation from economic collapse, strengthened our democracy, and earned the admiration of Ghana and the world. He is not a partisan target; he is a father of this nation,” it added.

The NPP further argued that the silence of the NDC over the comments amounts to complicity, claiming Kevin Taylor has known ties to the governing party.

“When a known operative verbally assaults a former President and the leadership of the NDC watches in silence, their silence becomes an endorsement,” the statement noted.

The party is therefore demanding that President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC publicly condemn the comments and distance themselves from the political commentator’s remarks.

The NPP also called on Kevin Taylor to issue what it described as a full and unqualified public apology to former President Kufuor.

It stressed that political discourse must remain within acceptable limits, especially when it involves former national leaders.

“The NDC must decide whether it will stand with our shared cultural values or with the savagery of Kevin Taylor,” the statement added.

In the earlier video, which was circulated on TikTok and Facebook by some users, the young man claimed that any police officer or soldier sent to arrest armed robbers who encountered him without spiritual protection, commonly referred to as “juju,” risked being shot and killed.

However, in a later video, he rendered an apology, explaining that the statement was part of content creation and was never intended to threaten or harm anyone.

“I want to sincerely apologise to the police, military and the general public for the video. It was only meant for content creation and not to threaten anybody. I never imagined it would go this far,” he stated.

He further appealed to the public and the security agencies for forgiveness, adding that he did not expect the video to attract such widespread attention online.

“I respect the security services and I regret what I said. Please forgive me because my intention was not to promote violence or disrespect the authorities,” he added.

According to him, the former President believes he did not effectively utilize the opportunity given him to serve the people and wishes to apologize.

The former MP for Mfantsiman indicated that the former president revealed his intentions in a meeting with some bigwigs in the party and took the highest blame for the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

The 30-year-old had earlier accused some of his former teammates of smoking and even alleged that one of them was involved in taking his girlfriend, claims that sparked outrage among sections of the Kotoko fraternity.

In a statement released through his JBLAY Foundation, Blay expressed regret over the remarks and acknowledged the hurt his words may have caused.

“Upon reflection, I recognise that my words may have caused disappointment or offense to the club, my former teammates, the passionate supporters, and specific individuals whose names were mentioned,” he stated.

Blay went on to offer an “unreserved and sincere” apology to everyone affiliated with Asante Kotoko—management, technical staff, players, and fans—insisting that it was never his intention to tarnish the image of the club or anyone associated with it.

“Asante Kotoko holds a special place in my heart and has played an instrumental role in my growth and career as a professional footballer,” he noted. “The platform and support I received during my time with the club will always be appreciated and cherished.”

Last year, Cerys Vaughan, then aged 17, was sanctioned by an FA disciplinary commission for improper conduct after she asked the rival player if they were a man during a friendly match.

Having been told the player was transgender, Vaughan says she then raised the matter with the referee over concerns she had about fairness and safety.

Following a complaint, she was charged with a breach of FA rules, and after a hearing she was handed a six-match ban, four of which were suspended.

The case sparked a protest by women’s rights campaigners outside Wembley, and scrutiny of the FA’s gender eligibility policy.

However, it can now be revealed that in February, an FA appeal board found that Vaughan had received an “unfair” hearing, quashed the original ruling, and ordered a new process to take place.

The case has since been dropped after the complainant withdrew from the process.

Vaughan, now 18, has chosen to reveal her identity and in her first broadcast interview told BBC Sport: “It was stressful. It’s definitely impacted my normal life a lot.

“In the end it was pointless, and there was no reason for the FA to put me through all this.

“They said I wasn’t guilty anymore and they dropped my charges and cleared my record.”

In a statement, the FA said: “We can confirm that this disciplinary case has now been closed, as the complainant has chosen to withdraw from the process due to personal reasons.

“All relevant parties have been informed of this outcome and no further action will be taken.

“To protect the players involved, and to respect the confidential details included, we are not in a position to publish further details about this case.”

What is the background?

The case began in July 2024 when Vaughan was playing a pre-season friendly for her local women’s team in Lancashire.

She said: “Just before the game kicked off I saw that one of the players [was] what I thought was a man, so I went and I asked, ‘Are you a man?”

She says her opponent clarified they were transgender and asked to speak about it at the end of the match, but Vaughan then asked the referee about it.

“I assumed it would be a women’s game, and that’s why I was confused because I thought they’d brought a mixed team with them,” said Vaughan.

“I said, ‘Is this player allowed to play in the match today?’

“The ref said, ‘I’m not sure, but because it’s a friendly I’m going to let it slide’.

“Their captain must have heard me ask, because she came up and she told me it wasn’t an appropriate question, it wasn’t a nice thing to say, and I needed to keep my transphobia off the pitch. I didn’t understand why she was saying that.”

Vaughan says she is currently being assessed for possible autism, and that this may explain why she “wasn’t afraid to ask the question”.

For several years, the FA has allowed transgender women to play in women’s matches if they reduce their testosterone level, insisting they have a responsibility to make the game as accessible and inclusive as possible.

However, earlier this month the FA announced it was introducing a ban from 1 June in the wake of a UK Supreme Court ruling that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex.

‘Shocked’ about being reported

Vaughan said days after the match she was informed by her club that she needed to provide a statement because she had been reported by a member of the opposition club, via football anti-discrimination body Kick It Out, to her local county FA.

“I was confused because I didn’t think I’d done anything wrong,” she said.

“I was shocked that they would report me but at that point I wasn’t worried because I thought the FA would have some common sense and not go through with [it].”

But Vaughan was then charged by Lancashire FA with “using abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting words or behaviour”.

It was further alleged it was an aggravated breach of FA rules because it included a reference to gender reassignment. According to documents seen by the BBC, Vaughan was alleged to have said, “that’s a man”, “are you a man” and “don’t come here again”, or similar.

Vaughan denied the charges, insisting that she did not intend to be offensive to her opponent or to challenge their chosen identity, but wanted to understand if the rules were being followed.

However, after a hearing, the disciplinary commission upheld both charges, finding that by raising the issue with the referee, Vaughan had showed a “continual action which indicated more than a casual question of curiosity.”

She was banned from all football for six matches, four of which were suspended for a period of one year, and was ordered to complete an online equality and diversity course.

“I was really upset,” said Vaughan. “It got put on my record that I’d been accused of misconduct, and I didn’t want that to stay there, and I knew I wasn’t guilty so I appealed it.”

In November, with her identity remaining a secret, the matter was raised in parliament by former FA chairman Lord Triesman. He criticised the governing body’s handling of the case, saying Vaughan “seems to me to have been treated in a shabby way”, and her appeal was supported by campaign group the Free Speech Union.

The controversy also led to a protest by women’s rights campaigners outside Wembley before an England men’s fixture.

“It was really nice to see other people weren’t afraid to speak up,” said Vaughan.

Appeal board found hearing ‘unfair’

The BBC has learned that in February an FA appeal board stated it was “concerned about fundamental aspects” of the case, noting that Vaughan became upset while being questioned during the original hearing.

It said that “maybe for the best of intentions, it led the Commission to truncate her evidence,” adding: “That appears to have prevented her from completing her account.”

It said that the commission should have considered measures to enable Vaughan “to her give best account in this important case. This appears not to have been done or offered. That was unfair to Cerys”.

The appeal body also said it was “also concerned about core aspect of the commission’s reasoning,” disagreeing that Vaughan had admitted the aggravated breach, and concluding “there appears to have been no consideration of her explanation”.

It added that this was “sufficient for us to allow the appeal and quash the commission’s decision, which we do”.

It said: “Since Cerys did not receive a fair hearing, the correct approach is to remit this case to a differently constituted commission… there should be a resolution of this important case on the merits after a fair hearing.”

Vaughan seeking FA apology

Vaughan says she is “happy” that the case has now been dropped, and welcomed the FA’s ban on transgender women from playing in women’s football, falling in line with several other sports.

“They’ve basically admitted that I was right in what I did,” she said. “If the new ruling was in place when I asked the original question I never would have been punished for anything.

“I’d like the FA to apologise for the way that they treated me… it was a very long, drawn-out case and there was no reason for it to be.”

The FA’s U-turn in policy pleased those concerned about transgender women retaining physiological advantages from male puberty and the risks to fairness and safety.

But it has also drawn criticism from those who fear it will exclude the 28 registered transgender women in English football from the sport, and marginalise the trans community. There are currently no transgender women playing in professional football.

Natalie Washington, campaign lead for Football v Transphobia, told BBC Sport that the FA rule change is because of “a lot of attention on a very small number of people who aren’t causing a problem, and are just going about their lives. It is a de facto ban for transgender women from football more generally, realistically, particularly people who have been playing in women’s football for decades.”

When asked if she has sympathy for transgender women who may now not play, Vaughan said: “No… I also have a love for the game. I compete with other women. I love football, and if biological males get involved that makes the experience worse for everyone else because then it’s not an even game… I don’t think the women’s game has to be inclusive. It should be women only.”

Asked what she would say to those who believe transgender women should still be able to play in women’s football if they reduce their testosterone, Vaughan said: “With the height advantage, the difference in bone density, that’s there from the beginning, and I think it’s unfair.

“I’m at a greater risk of injury, and if you’ve gone through male puberty you’ll always have the biological advantage.”

Last week, the FA chief executive Mark Bullingham said the amendment of the FA’s rules had been a “difficult decision” based on legal advice, and that it understands “how difficult this decision will be for people who want to play football in the gender by which they identify, and we are aware of the significant impact this will have on them”.

Gérald Darmanin admitted that security arrangements for the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid were wrong, and that his first public remarks – blaming English fans – were a mistake.

“It was a failure because I had not foreseen. That was a mistake on my part. I was led astray by my preconceptions,” said Darmanin, now France’s justice minister.

“The scapegoat was easy to find, and I apologise now to Liverpool supporters. They were quite right to be hurt. It was a mistake and a failure.”

Police used tear gas on Liverpool supporters as they tried to enter the stadium in Paris. Some fans were also ambushed and mugged by gangs of French youths.

In a lengthy interview on the Legend YouTube channel, Darmanin said the night was “the biggest failure” of his career.

“What I did not appreciate that evening was that the real problem was not coming from English supporters, but from delinquents who were robbing fans.

“Our security arrangements were not designed for that eventuality. We had riot police … with big boots and shields – not great for running. What you need against that kind of delinquency is officers in running shoes.

“We got our arrangements wrong. We were expecting a war of (football) hooligans, and what we got instead was muggers.”

In their first comments after the problems, Darmanin and police chief Didier Lallement said the dangerous crush at the stadium was largely caused by Liverpool fans in possession of fake tickets.

The claim was subsequently debunked in an independent report commissioned by UEFA.

In another section of the interview, Darmanin said that there was “no longer any safe place” in France – a comment that drew fire from the hard-right opposition.

“What a lot of French people can see is that (violence) has become general, it has metastasised. It’s no longer only in the places where you once looked for potential problems.

“Nowadays you can see that the tiniest country village has experience of cocaine or cannabis.”

National Rally MP Jean-Philippe Tanguy noted that Darmanin has been in government since President Emmanuel Macron’s first election in 2017.

Tungay said he was “treating the French like imbeciles, making all these so-called tough declarations when the record is so catastrophic”.

Darmanin, who is 42 and from the political right, did nothing in the interview to dispel speculation that he might be in the running to replace Macron in 2027.

“Do I think of the presidential election? The answer is yes,” he said.

“That does not mean that I am going to be a candidate, but it does mean I have ambitions for the country to do better than what I see now.”

The residents described Ms. Hardcastle’s comments during a public altercation with the MP as unfortunate and disrespectful.

The heated exchange took place on January 28 during a recess in the Parliamentary Appointments Committee proceedings, where Hardcastle referred to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus as a “Micro-Minority.” This led to a confrontation with Annoh-Dompreh.

Although Hardcastle has since apologized to the House of Parliament, residents of Adoagyiri-Nsawam, particularly women, are insisting that she must directly apologize to their MP and the community.

They argue that public officials must uphold respect and decorum in their interactions with elected representatives.

The women remain firm in their demand for a direct and unconditional apology to Annoh-Dompreh and the people of Adoagyiri-Nsawam, stressing that accountability and mutual respect must be prioritized in public service.

The apology comes in light of revelations that Chef Smith falsified his Guinness World Record attempt for the longest cooking marathon.

During the interview, Nacee expressed deep regret for not verifying the authenticity of Chef Smith’s Guinness World Record cooking marathon before promoting it to his followers.

The musician, who had enthusiastically supported Chef Smith’s cook-a-thon, acknowledged his oversight and the subsequent disappointment it caused among his fans and the general public.

This is despite a demand by Alban Bagbin for him to do so within seven days.

He said he would only apologise to his readers “for the accidental slip in typing the words “Dubai in 2021” instead of “Dubai in 2022″ in the question in paragraph 18 of my article dated 26 May 2024 and published on 27 May 2024, which I hereby apologise to them for.”

According to a statement released by the Speaker’s Communication Unit, the claims are baseless, unfounded, and part of a deliberate attempt to tarnish the Speaker’s reputation.

The statement signed by Peter Bamfo, said Mr Bagbin has a long record of distinguished and honest public service and will continue to put the interest of Ghana first.

“The Rt Hon Speaker will not be deterred from carrying out his public service duties, guiding and providing leadership for Parliament even in the face of insinuations, unprovoked attacks and unfounded allegations like Mr Amidu’s,”the statement added.

The clarification followed an allegation made by Mr Amidu in a write-up calling out the National Democratic Congress (NDC), its 2024 flagbearer and national chairman.

The Speaker called on Mr Amidu to retract what he described as false and malicious statements within 7 days or risk further action.

But Martin Amidu appears unfazed. In a fresh article dated May 29, the former Special Prosecutor said “I have done nothing for which I need to withdraw, retract, and apologise for within seven days to Mr Bagbin who is dissipating the public purse needlessly in Dubai for health challenges which are treatable or manageable in Ghana.”

He added that “if you [Alban Bagbin] think my article defames you in anyway, defend your integrity and honour by issuing a writ of summons and a statement of claim against me in a court of law so that I can prove to the whole world that the things I wrote against the NDC in which you were mentioned as its self-confessed corrupt Speaker are either true, justifiable, and constitute fair comments or questions on public matters on the conduct of a public officer, the Speaker, in the public interest.”

Salisu’s comments faced widespread criticism from fans, particularly in light of his perceived underwhelming performances during the tournament.

The students have taken to their knees to apologise for the uncouth act which has brought their education to an abrupt end.

Amidst tears, they took turns to render an apology to President Akufo-Addo, the Education Office, their teachers and the entire citizenry.

“I’m here with my colleagues to beg the president, the headmaster, the Education Office and fellow Ghanaians. We are sorry for our videos that went viral; we didn’t mean for them to go viral it was a childish play and we didn’t mean it.

“Our education means a lot to us and we are on our knees that the President should call us back and we call on our teachers to join us to plead,” one of the students begged.

Another added, “I’m here to say sorry to the President for our video. I had no intention and I took it as a joke.”

The students had been on suspension after their video went viral in November 2022, and have now been handed their dismissal letters.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the dismissal letter explained that the students have been dismissed for conduct that is “very undesirable, and contrary to the acceptable standards of the conduct generally required of any student in the educational system of Ghana.”

The letter dated November 29, 2022, and signed by the GES Director General, Dr Eric Nkansah, asked that the guardians ensure that their wards hand over all school property to the school before leaving the school for good.

Meanwhile, an aggrieved parent, Martin Akeleyiira, who has expressed reservations about the issue, has pleaded for the decision to be reversed.

According to him, he had no intention of bringing the kingdom’s name into disrepute but was only expressing his displeasure with the extent of destruction caused to waterbodies in the Ashanti Region as a result of galamsey.

“When you come to the Ashanti region, galamsey activities have destroyed 23 out of the 47 constituencies. Water bodies are in a bad state so I was crying while speaking on Oyerepa.

“But I want to say if Otumfuo was not happy with my comments and it was not right, I retract and apologise but I will not relent on my fight for Ghana. Nobody can intimidate or scare me and I will continue to fight with my last drop of blood,” he said on Accra-based Onua TV.

Odike was a few weeks ago banished from the Manhyia Palace in connection with comments he made on Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, where he unequivocally criticised the chiefs for failing to help end galamsey.

Condemning the remarks, it said the remarks were not isolated effusions of two political figures but rather a reflection of an escalating pattern of hatred that called for violence and sometimes even genocide against Muslims in India.

In a statement issued in Accra yesterday, the group called on the Indian government to take active measures to stem the tide of Islamophobia in the country.

It bemoaned the delay by the government in sanctioning the two individuals, which occurred only after condemning statements were issued by some Islamic countries.

Presently, the statement said there were incessant and incendiary utterances by people in authority which bordered on hate speeches, hostile harassment, and rampant violence against Muslims.

As a nation that was a signatory to most international conventions on the protection of human rights, which protected the rights of freedom of religion, and proscribed discrimination on grounds of ethnic or religious origin, such volatile acts that sought to erode the very foundations of the international community ought not to be countenanced.

The statement said the group was equally concerned about incitements to violence that have assumed alarming proportions in recent times under the current government.

It described as Islamophobic the prohibition of Muslim head coverings in schools and the imposition of Hindu dietary preferences on Muslims

Additionally, the Citizenship Amendment Act, which made faith a basis for granting Indian citizenship, the statement said, were all driven by the Islamophobic attitude and was in blatant violation of their fundamental human rights.

The group also raised concerns about the leverage of a new mass culture dominated by cinema, poetry, and music which were all loaded with inflammatory content and hateful anti-Islam lyrics.

These, the statement said, were purposely designed to politically mobilise the majority of Hindus against Muslims.

“This religious polarisation and well-oiled ecosystem of hate which the current government has nurtured has found frightening expression in the Indian mass media where the overwhelming majority of news outlets have, lock, stock, and barrel, become the echo chambers and cheerleaders of such bigotry,” the statement added.

The statement warned that co-opting the media for the purpose of spreading hatred for political gain was not sustainable and urged the government to address the emerging problem.

Finding his voice barely a week after social media was buzzing with comments on his romantic footage, Oxlade has apologised to his sexual partner as well.

Final year students of the Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School (SHS) at Kumawu in the Ashanti region have rendered an unqualified apology over a rampage on Monday.

The first day of the 2020 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) turned chaotic in the school.

The candidates went on rampage against their headmaster, John Asante for being too strict with the Integrated Science exam invigilation.

The female students, in a video, were captured ransacking their dining hall and threw away meals served, an act the Ghana Education Service highly condemns.

However, the student on Wednesday at a gathering in the school took to their knees to apologise over the uncouth act after a lengthy speech.

Justice Honyenugah in February 2020, while addressing the chiefs and people of the Afadjato South District at a durbar, commended President Akufo-Addo for his good works which he believed warranted him a second term.

Stephen emerged 5th at the end of the 13-week long contest, only to claim in a recent interview with a blogger that some of his colleague contestants paid bribes during the contest.

The incident comes a few months after members of the public lynched three suspected criminals specialising in stealing from the churches.

During the Sunday incident at the Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa (PEFA) Church in Engineer Township, the criminal wrote a letter addressed to the church regretting that he had found no money despite having been informed by a worshiper that some good amount of money had been left there.

“I was sent here by one of your fellow Christians who told me that the amount of money has been kept inside the church. But I got nothing. God bless you all and pray for me. Thanks,” read the letter.

He then signed out as “the person who broke the church”.

Rev Peter Wanyoike said the thief destroyed part of the church’s iron sheet walls to gain access.

Forgiven

“We found the letter in the church when the police arrived to commence their investigations. He believed there was some money in church; we have forgiven him. We are praying for him to get saved. He is welcome to confess and worship with us,” said Rev Wanyoike.

Worshipers also said they had forgiven the thief but expressed concern over rising cases of crimes targeting churches.

“What shocks us most is the confession letter. He had all the time to rummage all over the church looking for the money and then write the confession letter in his own handwriting. He must have attended the church or has an informer. Maybe it is only the timing that was wrong. He needs prayers,” said Faith Wairimu, a resident of Engineer town.

Nyandarua Police Commander Gedion Ngumi said they have started investigations into the incident.

He also advised the General Manager to terminate the employment of Kwaku Annan because he is unprofessional and can lead to the collapse of the radio station.

Owusu Bempah, therefore, rendered an unqualified apology to Ghanaians and the Station for his attitude and promised that such will not happen again.

His comments were, however, met with criticisms by sections of the public; with some civil society organisations demanding an apology and his resignation from Parliament.

But addressing a press conference Tuesday, Mr Bagbin apologised, especially to persons living with disabilities for his comments.

He, however, claimed that his comments were misconstrued and not meant to disparage persons with disabilities.

But President of the Blind Union, Dr Obeng Asamoah said the Nadowli Kaleo MP’s apology is not proper because he didn’t show respect to persons with disabilities.

“We won’t accept Mr Bagbin’s apology. We see the apology as a diluted one so he should come again. The apology is not proper because he didn’t show any remorse. We see his apology rather as an insult to us and so he should do it again,” he said on Accra based Neat FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

“A Plus’ apology is fake and hypocritical. Listening to his apology should even tell you that he showed no remorse. I won’t take that and I still stand by the fact that he should be dealt with drastically for accusing the two government officials” he said in an interview on Accra based Okay FM.

Controversial musician, Kwame Asare Obeng alias A-Plus has rendered another apology to Samuel Abu Jinapor and Francis Asenso-Boakye for wrongly accusing them of corruption.

A-Plus had accused the two Deputy Chiefs of Staff of putting pressure on the CEO of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Felix Anyah, to give back a revenue-collection contract to UniBank after the same contract had been given to a wholly-foreign-owned bank.

Jinapor however in an interview on Peace FM, denied the allegation.

In his latest video on Facebook, A-Plus said having listened to Mr Jinapor’s explanations; he believed the two young presidential staffers were misled by uniBank.

But according to Abronye DC, A Plus’ apology to Francis Asenso-Boakye and Samuel Abu Jinapor is not sincere.

He indicated that, the musician sounded as if he was forced to render the apology.

The NPP youth activist suggested all those maligned by A Plus sue him to serve as a deterrent to others.

Citing the Deputy Police CID boss,  ACP Maame Yaa Tiwaa, Addo Danquah as an example, Abronye DC said the only way she can redeem her battered image is by suing A Plus.

“The CID boss should take A Plus on because he has tarnished her image. How dare you record a senior police officer without her consent and later render a fake apology?” he quizzed.

I don’t expect everybody to like me…now that I have come to understand that Abu does not even understand the issue, I will go ahead like I’ve said already and say I apologise for how I put this whole thing out; yes, because listen to him [Abu]: he does not even understand the issue. People have lied to him. Look at what he said, if he was being honest on radio, I have the impression that he was being honest, and that is all that they told him, then they have deceived him…the issue is that every Ghanaian watching me today ask yourself how can we have a government institution that can’t tell how much money it makes? today I am not fighting with anybody…

I think the fight should be over…all of us are looking for the best…after listening to Abu, I’m very convinced that he did not know that there is no system in place or mechanism in place to check or undependably tell what the leakages are and how much money the hospital makes …I will never sit here and say I am very happy with what I did. My presentation was very wrong…now it’s time; we can’t sit down. This issue must be solved”

He however says he “will not stop talking…I will continue talking and talking and talking…I am here for Nana Addo, I am here for the NPP. I am still a member of the NPP.”

This is the second time the musician is apologising to the two, having already rendered same during an interview on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM few weeks ago.

He described them as “stupid” indicating that he could not fathom why the President could appoint such corrupt officials into government.
But speaking on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM Wednesday, A-Plus apologised to the President Akufo-Addo as well as the two government appointees for using the “method I used to express my feelings. I think that it’s very wrong.”
“I apologise to the President for using the method and language I used in expressing my feelings,” he rendered, adding that the reaction may be borne out of his high expectation for the President Akufo-Addo.
“My expectation of Nana Addo is just too high [and] sometimes I just jump the gun”.

Asenso-Boakye and Jinapor 
He, however, maintained that the corruption claim against the Messrs Asenso-Boakye and Jinapor still stands.
“I apologise about how I put it, I have apologised to the people [two officials] but not the substance of the accusation… Not to the people I made the allegations against,” A-Plus insisted.
He said he was happy when he had a call from the Presidency “to come and give evidence [over corruption allegation]”.
“I was so happy…that is what I voted for,” A Plus who revealed plans to contest the Chairmanship position of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Gomoa Central Constituency of the Central Region, stated
He however, refused to give details about the ownership of HT Global, the organisation he works as the Executive Director, which has been involved in the lifting of fuel from Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company (BOST).
Constantly evading questions from the host, Kojo Yankson, seeking further information about HT Global, A-Plus said he is a part-owner of the company which only got involved in the business of fuel transportation after the NPP won political power.

According to him, it was wrong for the delegates to have ignored the experience and tireless effort of Dr Kwabena Agyei and others like Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan who helped the party to win power in 2008, and rather settled on Mr Kofi Potuphy simply because he shared freebies during congress.

“It is important to pick a good and competent national chairman in our congress. If we want to come back to power in 2020, then the arrogant executives and foot soldiers must immediately go and apologise to him because they have taken his experience for granted for long time. If they fail to do that, trust me, we will be in opposition forever,” he said.

President Mahama suffered a humiliating defeat after he polled just 44.40% of the total valid votes cast as against 53.85% of his main contender, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Majority of the NDC Members of Parliament also lost their seats. This development political pundits said is the worst performance in the history of the ruling party.

The leadership of the NDC has been urged to re-group and take stock to prevent another defeat in future elections.

But speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Wednesday, Yakubu Tony Aidoo opined that those who were experienced and were able to bring power to the NDC like Yaw Boateng Gyan, Dr. Kwabena Adjei were all rejected and sidelined but rather entrusted the party’s fate into the hands of people like Portuphy who he believes has taken them to opposition.

The NDC activist further called on all party faithful to vote against incumbent national executives who will be seeking re-election in their party’s primaries.

He believes the incumbent executives after this humiliating defeat to President John Mahama in the just ended elections do not have the moral courage to lead the party.

Bugri Naabu and Otiko Djaba have been exchanging abusive words on various media platforms after the former lost temper and disrupted a meeting chaired by the latter in the Northern Region.

Outspoken Bugri Naabu had argued that the meeting was being held under his political jurisdiction without his knowledge, deeming it as a gross disrespect to his authority.

He caused a stir when he alleged in an interview that Otiko Djaba and Northern Regional Minister, Rockson Bukari, had knowledge of the gruesome murder of NPP Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama in 2015. This was after Otiko Djaba had accused him of receiving goats and cows from individuals with the promise of securing appointments in public office for them.

Both personalities however rendered unqualified apologies for their remarks. At a crunch meeting held at Alisa Hotel, Wednesday, the National Council resolved that although both have apologized for their despicable behavior, it should be in a written form.

According to a statement issued by John Boadu, Acting General Secretary of the party, what ensued between the two bigwigs of the party was unhealthy.

“The meeting expressed strong disapproval and regret against the actions and utterances of the minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection and the Northern Regional Chairman. Even though the two apologized profusely, the meeting severely reprimanded them and bonded them to be of good behaviour. They were also asked to put their apologies into written statements,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling for police investigations of the murder claim made by Bugri Naabu.

Member of NDC legal team, Victor Adawudu said on Joy FM’s Top Story, Wednesday, that the murder of Adams Mahama remains a national issue and any information from anyone should not be treated lightly.

The apology follows a directive from the party’s National Council for the two politicians to apologise in writing and promise not to repeat same.

In a letter dated 11 May, Mr Naabu said “I’m by this letter expressing my profound apology to the entire New Patriotic Party fraternity, the former president, the current vice president, the president and the good people of Ghana over the unfortunate exchange of words between my good self and Otiko Afisa Djaba.

“I repeat unreservedly that, such conduct would never be repeated. It is my sincere prayer that, I would never repeat such a conduct again.

“It was due to extreme anger and provocation that I uttered those words as I do not have any proof or evidence to support those allegations.

“I very much regret for the embarrassment and inconvenience caused to the leadership of the party and the country as whole. Hope this apology would be accepted by all and sundry.”

Mr Naabu and Ms Djaba’s fight began when the Chairman violently disrupted a meeting between the Minister and women’s group in the Northern Region because he was not informed of the gathering.

Ms Djaba in response accused Mr Naabu of taking cows and goats as bribe to offer people jobs. Mr Naabu replied by accusing Otiko of being a controversial person in the party and having a hand in the death of the late Upper East regional chairman of the party, Adams Mahama.

She told Gifty Andoh Appiah on The Pulse on Joy News channel on MultiTV Tuesday, she reacted to Daniel Bugri Naabu’s comments against her because she felt disrespected.

“Because I am a woman he feels he can bully me…but I apologise to all Ghanaians for what happened,” she said.

The Gender Minister and Mr Naabu were caught in a battle of words following a misunderstanding over the appointment of the Coordinator for the School Feeding Programme in the Region.

Mr Naabu is reported to have disrupted a meeting held by Otiko Djaba on May 5, while a group of unruly supporters who accompanied him vandalised some properties.

He described the meeting held by the Gender Minister as “illegal” because he was not notified about it.

It emerged that Mr Naabu’s action was in protest of the refusal of Otiko Djaba to allow him to select the caterer for the school feeding programme.

He granted interviews to some media houses where he made unprintable accusations against the Minister.

Otiko Djaba in reaction also accused Mr Naabu of collecting money, goats, cows and other things from some people with the promise of giving them jobs at the National School Feeding Programme.

The governing NPP has said it was going to investigate the circumstances leading to the disruption of the Gender Minister’s meeting.

Acting NPP General Secretary, John Boadu told Joy News Monday, he believes the cause of the disagreement has nothing to do with the school feeding programme.

“It was in reference to the appointment of MMDCEs,” he said.

But Otiko Djaba has called for a truce between herself and Mr Naabu to forge ahead in unity.

Bugri Naabu on Friday led a group of angry women to disrupt a meeting organized by the Gender Minister, Otiko Djaba.

According to him, the meeting was illegal and that, the Minister failed to inform him and other regional executives. The president he fumed cannot come to the region without informing the executives.

The Minister according to reports organized the meeting to introduce to the crowd, the new coordinator for the school feeding programme in the region.

“Even the President cannot come to the region without informing the regional chairman and his executives for his intention of coming to the region,” he said.

The Minister sensing danger, called armed policemen and personnel from the military to maintain law and order.

The Madam Otiko Djaba after the incident is reported to have accused the NPP Chairman of receiving bribes from persons in the region in return for positions and therefore saw her presence in the area as a threat to his underhand dealings.

But she advised him to return bribes in the form of goats, cows and sheep he received from such persons as well as cautioned him against making promises to people especially party people he knows very well he has not got the capacity to meet when the president is the sole appointing authority.

“Bugri Naabu should stop promising people positions he cannot offer. He should better return their cows, goats and monies he took from them. If Bugri Naabu wants my trouble, then trouble he will give him one”, she said.

In support, the Tamale Central Women Organiser of NPP, Hajia Suraya warned Bugri Naabu to stop troubling the minister accusing him (Bugri) of using her (Otiko) as a cover up for his problems.

“Bugri Naabu doesn’t respect women at all and only using our mother to cover up his problems. Chairman Bugri Naabu’s house is now turned into Abattoir, he keeps taking the goats, sheep and monies before someone can be appointed as MCE or DCE. He should immediately apologise to her else we will make sure he is sacked as the chairman in the region” she warned on Accra-based Neat FM.

According to her, the meeting by the Gender Minister in the region was only for the minister to thank her women for working very hard to achieve a resounding victory and moreover to assure them of her commitment to see to the welfare of the women.

Hajia Suraya, however, denied the purported lies in the news by the regional chairman that the minister came to introduce school feeding coordinators to them.
