A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has launched a scathing attack on the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for criticizing government’s decision to build a national cathedral.

David Prah maintained that, the Akufo-Addo led administration will not succumb to unnecessary pressure to halt its decision to build a temple for God.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has commissioned a committee of distinguished clergymen to work at ensuring the construction of the national cathedral.

As part of the committee’s terms of reference, it is supposed to source funding from corporate Ghana for the project.

But the opposition NDC has raised issues with regards to the construction of the cathedral, particularly with the sitting of the project.

They argue that ejecting judges from their current residence and the breakdown of those buildings for the national cathedral project is a misplaced priority.

But David Prah on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Tuesday said issues being raised by the NDC is borne out of sheer jealousy.

He indicated that, the opposition are just making ‘ugly noises’ because of the goodwill the NPP will enjoy should it complete the project.

Mr. Prah who is also the Public Relations Officer of the National Service Scheme noted that, the construction of the National Cathedral has no implication on the national purse and cannot be said to be a drain on the tax payers’ money.

He suggested the NDC also build a national shrine if it is fortunate enough to come back to power in future.

“NPP is committed to building a national cathedral and national mosque so the NDC can also build a national shrine when they come to power” he scoffed.

david Prah added that, the project is for the nation and must be supported.

  1. DO YOU REALLY HAVE JESUS CHRIST IN YOUR HEART TO BUILD A SO-CALLED CATHEDRAL FOR JEHOVAH? WITH POLITICS OF DECEIT AND PROPAGANDA IN GHANA? WE DO NOT WORSHIP GOD IN TEMPLES BUT IN THE HEARTS OF MEN. PLEASE TURN TO THE PEOPLE OF GHANA AND SERVE THE POOR. STOP THE DIRTY POLITICS. MOST POLITICIANS ARE NATION WRECKERS, BUT NOT CHRISTIANS WHO DO NOT NEED TO BUILD A CATHEDRAL.

  2. A country like Rwanda is serious developing at a fast pace by pulling down church’s and other unprintable structures to pave way for developmental projects to make life better for its citizens.

They pulled down places of worship to build hospitals ,schools and other profitable structures to creat employment for the good citizens of Rwanda .

But in the case of my country, the story is completely different

We pull down profitable structures/buildings to build place of worship. This clearly tells you our country is retrogressing and lacks priorities.

  3. Building cathedral for the nation is a good idea but let ask ourselfs is it the right time?I know it was not even one of the campaign promises. This Cathedral is not going to put food on any ones table. The country is really sick and needs to sit up and stop debating on unnecessary things.Filth is every where and it seems no body cares about it as if we dont have leaders in the country.People need jobs, housing is also a big problem for the citizens etc etc.Lets come together and find solution to these problems and stop this cathedral thing after all there are more churches in the country than factories.
