A 52-year-old man, Kwame Landi, has committed suicide after killing his two-year-old daughter and a 32-year-old friend at Duwan Nkwata near Teper Mankranso.

The incidence which occurred last Saturday has sent shock waves through the spines of residents because the man is said to have carried out the act unprovoked.

Kwame Landi is alleged to have used a butchers’ knife, which he had sharpened in the morning for a goat, to commit the act.

Local accounts said he made his wife aware of his intention to kill her with the knife after he is done with the goat.

Fearing for her life, the wife, escaped with her two-year-old daughter, to the nearest house to narrate the ordeal to the friend of her husband.

A few minutes later, Kwame Landi followed up to his friend’s house, wielding the sharpened knife.

Sensing danger, his friend, Yaw Peter, approached Kwame Landi to inquire from him what the problem was but he slashed him with the knife.

Yaw Peter, in an attempt to save himself grabbed a stick to hit his friend but fell in the process, giving Landi the upper hand to allegedly pounce on him and stab him multiple times until he died.

He then turned to his wife who was carrying his [Landi’s] daughter and the wife of Yaw Peter.

The two-year-old daughter fell when the two made an attempt to escape from the knife-wielding Landi.

He then slashed the daughter in the neck, killing her instantly before committing suicide later.

The wife of Kwame Landi, Abena Bena, 32, said, her husband was neither mentally challenged nor was he bothered about anything.

Interestingly, she disclosed that the two of them were in church at Kumasi together, just a day before the incidence.
