Speaking on Nyinsen Ne Awuo, hosted by Afia Amankwah on Adom 106.3 FM, she explained that in normal pregnancies, sexual activity does not cause miscarriage.

“Pregnancy is not sickness, so it shouldn’t be a hindrance to sex for couples,” she stated.

According to Midwife Awuvafoge, many men avoid their pregnant partners out of fear of harming the baby, while some women lose interest due to stress, discomfort, or hormonal changes.

She added that semen contains prostaglandins, which may help soften the cervix as labour approaches, and highlighted the importance of emotional bonding during pregnancy for both partners.

The discussion sparked emotional reactions from listeners. One woman revealed that her husband sometimes sleeps outside the bedroom and refuses intimacy due to fear of her pregnancy.

A male caller said he had heard that sex during pregnancy could affect the baby’s development—a claim the midwife dismissed, explaining that the baby is well protected in the womb.

Another woman recounted how her husband avoided intimacy for six months after birth because he no longer found her attractive.

Midwife Awuvafoge encouraged women to maintain cleanliness and confidence, stressing that attraction and intimacy require effort from both partners.

However, she cautioned that sex should be avoided in cases of complications such as bleeding, placenta previa, risk of preterm labour, or when advised against by a doctor.

The caller was the husband whose wife, Cecelia Awuni, had been driven out of the examination hall of the Gushegu Nursing and Midwifery Training College.

Cecelia Awuni was in her final year. She was writing her final examination of six papers. She had written four papers and was in the examination hall to write the fifth paper. After that, she would write the final paper the following day and leave the school. But that was not to happen.

In the middle of the paper, the principal of the college walked in and sacked her from the examination hall.

Her only crime?

She was pregnant.

For someone who had had about 24 hours to complete the school, this sacking meant that she would not be admitted into the school until she had given birth and returned the following year to join the next batch of final year students.

Yes, that was the rule in nursing and midwifery training schools across Ghana. And that rule was being enforced by principals of those schools, who were mostly women. The principal who sacked Cecelia from the exam hall was a woman.

The following morning, I didn’t report to the newsroom. I went straight to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), where the registrar and public relations Officer of the Council (both men) confirmed my story before engaging me in a debate.

The registrar defended the action of the principal. It was a rule that had to be obeyed, he said.

It didn’t make sense, I insisted. And he disagreed.

From one lame justification to another, the registrar laboured unintelligibly in a vain attempt to rationalise the barbarity. He claimed the pregnancy interfered with the nursing students’ training.

I pointed out to him that pregnant women worked and attended school at the university, so it didn’t make sense to single out nursing students for that discrimination and injustice.

 He then claimed nursing training was peculiar, because they were required to undertake clinicals in hospitals and so on.

I forgot to point out to him that in those hospitals, pregnant nurses were not exempt from more demanding tasks than the nursing students on practical attachments. But I pointed out to him that Cecilia Awuni had only one day to complete school, so how was the pregnancy going to affect her education, even if we were to go by the excuse?

Then, he said nursing trainees needed to show good examples. As midwives, they would be helping women undertake family planning, and they should be seen to be implementing what they would go out to teach others.

“Are you saying female nursing students must not have sex?” I asked him.

“No, that’s not what I mean.”

“And is there a foolproof family planning method?” I asked.

He said there was none.

At the end of the day, I succeeded in getting what I wanted from them—an interview with them. The registrar made the PRO speak to me. He confirmed the incident and the rule.

But the story was not that of only Cecelia Awuni (She is not related to me).

Another nursing student in the Jirapa Nursing Training College, Sarah Danyi, had been compelled to induce an early birth after she got pregnant and was forced to withdraw. She delivered just in time before the examination.

When she returned to school to join her year group for the final examination, the principal, a woman, denied her the chance. That meant she had to wait for another year to write. Some students who suffered this fate were traumatised and did not return to the school.

It took the intervention of a medical doctor, who threatened to sue the principal, to get Sarah to write her examination.

When I aired my report on Joy FM, the Super Morning Show made it the agenda the following morning.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council distanced itself from the PRO’s interview, though I knew he made no mistake in his interview with me. He had articulated the council’s position.

Within 72 hours of my story, the Ministry of Health released a statement abolishing the rule that required female nursing students to halt their education when they got pregnant.

Cecelia Awuni was called to write her two papers. She excelled. And I’m here to announce the progress of the two main characters of my story.

Sarah now has two children. She has gone on to study for a degree in nursing. And she’s serving her nation in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region.

Cecelia delivered her child after school. She’s now eight, the first of Cecilia’s three children.

Her nursing career has not stalled. She has served the nation’s health service in Tolon and now works at the Nyankpala Health Centre in the Northern Region.

But that’s not all.

After completing the Gushegu Nursing and Midwifery Training College with a diploma, Cecelia did her national service in 2018.

She proceeded to obtain a bachelor’s degree. And In 2022, she applied and was admitted to the University of Ghana to study for an Mphil in Midwifery at the University of Ghana. She graduated successfully in July this year.

Cecelia Awuni’s story is just one example of what women can achieve when society removes the barriers that compound nature’s weight on them.

Her personal journey and the abolishing of the senseless rule that robbed female nursing students of their fundamental rights remain one of the proudest moments of my journalism career. But much of the credit should go to Cecelia and her husband, who were prepared to take on the system.

Many of the absurdities people endure result from the reluctance to fight. For fear of victimisation, they suffer silently and pass their ordeal on to other generations.

Cecelia fought for her pregnancy and won. Her victory has liberated generations of nursing and midwifery students who would still have been suffering if she had decided to endure this in silence.

Singer Rihanna has confirmed she is expecting her third baby while attending fashion’s biggest night of the year, the Met Gala in New York.

The 37-year-old cradled her bump and smiled for the cameras while appearing on the red carpet, which was navy with daffodils.

Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, already have two sons.

A$AP Rocky, also known as Rakim Mayers, thanked reporters who offered their congratulations on the red carpet.

“It is time to just show the people what we were cooking up,” he said.

Rihanna was the last to arrive at the benefit event for New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, which marks the opening of its Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.

The seminar emphasized the need for compassion, support, and mental health protection for young pregnant girls.

Research by the Perinatal Mental Health and Interprofessional Education Project, conducted in both Ghana and Uganda, shows that social support from family, partners, and peers can significantly alleviate these mental health challenges.

Project lead, Professor Victoria Bam, Principal Investigator from the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), highlighted the severe emotional toll unplanned pregnancies can have on girls.

“Pregnancy can bring anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts, especially when these young women face judgment from parents, friends, churches, or communities,” she stated.

The stigma often forces them into isolation, making it difficult to cope with the physical, emotional, and social challenges of pregnancy.

“Support helps these young girls stay emotionally stable and reduces the stress they face,” Professor Bam added.

The project’s findings advocate for integrating mental health care into antenatal and postnatal services. Professor Bam called for health workers to address the emotional needs of young pregnant girls, ensuring their mental well-being is prioritized alongside their physical health.

Professor Bam stressed that pregnancy should not mean the end of a girl’s education or aspirations.

The project calls for the incorporation of policies that support pregnant girls in continuing their education, challenging the societal norm that equates unplanned pregnancy with failure.

This seminar marked the first phase of sharing the project’s findings with healthcare providers and stakeholders. As the project progresses, these insights will be disseminated further to inform reproductive health protocols and clinical practices. The ultimate goal is to create a framework where young pregnant girls receive the care, support, and encouragement they need to lead fulfilling lives.

Professor Bam’s message is clear: stigmatizing young girls for unplanned pregnancies does more harm than good. By fostering empathy and understanding, families, communities, and healthcare systems can play a pivotal role in protecting their mental health and empowering them to overcome challenges.

This research dissemination seminar underscores the critical need to prioritize mental health care, social support, and educational opportunities for pregnant girls, paving the way for a more inclusive and compassionate society.

The District Coordinator for Mental Health Services in Ejisu, Millicent Nyamekye, highlighted a growing concern about girls facing mental health challenges due to unplanned pregnancies. According to her, many of these girls lack adequate education on pregnancy care, leading to complications, including psychotic disorders.

She also emphasizes the importance of education on family planning methods, particularly non-hormonal options like the IUD, which she personally endorses as both a client and advocate.

Nyamekye calls on the country’s health sector to unite in supporting these efforts.

Mr Adator, speaking in an interview, noted that contraceptives often run out at pharmacies and health facilities, while condoms stay on the shelves and expire without being purchased.

He based his statement on data from the 2023 national and sub-national HIV/AIDS estimates.

According to the Ghana AIDS Commission, 17,774 people, comprising 6,457 males and 11,317 females, became newly infected with HIV in 2023, indicating that the HIV population increased by nine per cent between 2013 and 2023, which is projected to increase by 6.8 per cent by 2030.

Additionally, the data also revealed that 12,480 Ghanaians died from AIDS-related illnesses in 2023.

Mr. Adator stated that “the regional data is not looking too good. It’s very scary because when you juxtapose the national figures, especially in Ada, from the ages between 10 and 19 years, people who are affected by the deadly disease are about 11 per cent, while the national rate is just five per cent, and that’s why I said the regional data is scary.”

He added that sometimes health officials must chase victims and compel them to go for their medications.

“Some even give us the wrong contacts so that we can’t reach out to them, and so they end up spreading the virus to others. I’m scared that if care is not taken, it will get to a point where in every family, there will be people testing positive for HIV and AIDS,” he lamented.

Mr. Adator applauded the Naana Kakie Foundation, an NGO, and stakeholder in Ada for their initiative to help with HIV/AIDS education for the public, schools, organizations, and religious organizations to prevent the spread of the virus and promote safe sex practices.

He added that their sensitization programme, which is done in the local language, significantly helped in fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS.

He urged HIV/AIDS patients to take their medication regularly while cautioning the youth against engaging in unprotected sex, and emphasized the need for more education on the disease as a tool to curb the spread of the disease.

The arrest came after a series of events revealed that Agyei was responsible for the pregnancy, contrary to his initial denial.

After dating her lover for over a year, Elorm said she got pregnant and informed her fiancé, expecting support and excitement.

However, after breaking the news, he left the house and all efforts to reach him via phone proved futile.

Concerned, she reached out to their mutual friend who introduced them and dismissively said he might have traveled.

But after a week of silence, Elorm said she became extremely worried.

The situation took a worse turn when her friend spread rumors of her ‘fatherless pregnancy’ causing her to feel humiliated.

“My friend, this same person who linked me and my fiancé spread it in church that I was pregnant with no man to claim responsibility. She spread lies that I was impregnated by our pastor, knowing very well I had no intimate relations with him. The church summoned me and demanded I brought the man responsible, and there I was, not knowing what to say”.

Feeling humiliated, Elorm said she made the painful decision to stop attending the church.

The stress and emotional trauma from these events ultimately led to a miscarriage.

Later, Elorm found out her fiancé was a married man with children.

The distraught lady said they met on Instagram and became aquatinted.

She said the former footballer promised to employed her in his company in Tema and asked her to come to Accra.

“As I got to Accra, I called him and he said it was late so he sent me location to his house and I took a ride there. Whilst going I wasn’t scared because I looked to him as a big brother and thought he was married until I got there and he said he’s no more with the wife. That night he slept with me, I even begged him to protect himself and he said he has protected himself with injection so there is no way I will get pregnant. However, the lady said she stayed in the hotel for 5 days and he was constantly having sex with her without protection.

Unable to provide her the job as agreed, the frustrated lady said the footballer persuaded her to return to her hometown, pledging to reach out to her in two weeks.

Unfortunately, she was only left with pregnancy, homelessness with no job.

She alleged that, attempts to seek legal recourse were met with intimidation and threats from the footballer.

The lady said after complaining to some of his colleagues, a resolution was reached with the ex-footballer agreeing to provide a monthly allowance of GHS1,000 for the child and contribute to rent expenses.

But that promise is yet to see the light of day.

Expressing desperation for assistance and advice, the woman has reached out to the public for support in her time of need.

She has threatened to expose the former  Black Stars player if he does not fulfill his obligation.

“The Little Mermaid” star was one of the honorees at Thursday’s 2024 Black Women in Hollywood Awards, and gave a speech in which she explained why she protected her pregnancy and the birth of her first child, son Halo, from public scrutiny.

“We are Black women in entertainment, and although we signed up for the challenges of the spotlight, in this current climate, that spotlight burns brighter, hotter, and uninterrupted, whereas the scrutiny of its magnification leaves no concealment,” Bailey said, according to People.

Pregnancy can be a time of joy, but for some, it brings feelings of anxiety and depression.

First, it’s vital to understand what you’re experiencing. Anxiety might feel like constant worry about the future, while depression can make you feel very sad or lose interest in things you usually like.

It’s normal to have some worries during pregnancy, but if these feelings are strong and last a long time, they might be anxiety or depression.

The importance of professional help

It’s okay to ask for help. Speaking to a doctor or a counsellor can make a big difference. They can help you understand your feelings and offer ways to feel better.

Sometimes, they might suggest talking therapies or other treatments that are safe during pregnancy.

Self-care techniques

Self-care is also key. Eating healthy foods, like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, can boost your mood.

Gentle exercise, such as walking or prenatal yoga, can help too. Also, try relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation. These activities can calm your mind and improve your mood.

Addressing misconceptions and concerns

There are lots of myths about mental health during pregnancy. Some think it’s just “hormones” or that you must always be happy because you’re pregnant. But it’s not that simple. Anxiety and depression are real conditions, and they need proper care.

Building a supportive network

Lastly, it’s helpful to have people around who understand and support you. This could be your partner, family, friends, or a support group.

Sharing your feelings with them can make you feel less alone and provide comfort.

Taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health, especially during this special time in your life.

Safina Namukwaya welcomed a baby girl and boy on Wednesday afternoon at the Women’s Hospital International and Fertility Centre in Kampala, Uganda’s capital.

Medical professionals at the hospital reported that both the mother and her newborns are in good health following the caesarean delivery.

“This story isn’t just about medical success; it’s about the strength and resilience of the human spirit,” the hospital said.

The mother said she had suffered some complications and difficulties during her pregnancy, including the father of her children leaving her.

In her words, “Men don’t like to hear that you are going to have more than one child. Even after I was admitted, my man never showed up.

“One time, a very young boy heckled at me saying I had been cursed by my mother to die without a child.

“Many people judged and abused me for being barren but, I decided to leave everything to the Almighty God who has finally answered my prayers.”

Speaking to NTV, the 70-year-old Ms. Namukwaya revealed that this marks her second delivery within in three years, with her firstborn, a girl named Sarah, arriving in 2020.

Although Ms. Namukwaya’s situation is uncommon, it is not unprecedented for a woman to give birth at an older age.

There are several reasons some people may become pregnant while using family planning methods:

1. User error: Human error is a common factor in contraceptive failure. Users may forget to take their birth control pills, miss appointments for contraceptive injections, or improperly use barrier methods like condoms.

2. Inconsistent use: Some contraceptive methods, such as the birth control pill, require consistent and correct use to be effective.

Missing even a single dose or taking the pill at irregular times can reduce its effectiveness.

3. Method failure: While most contraceptive methods are highly effective, there is still a small failure rate associated with each method.

For example, even when used correctly, condoms can break or slip, and intrauterine devices (IUDs) may occasionally shift.

4. Medications and medical conditions: Certain medications and medical conditions can interfere with the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives.

For example, antibiotics and certain anti-seizure medications can reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills.

5. Conception before using contraception: Some people may become pregnant shortly after starting a new contraceptive method because they were already pregnant before they began using it.

6. Expired or damaged contraception: Using expired or damaged contraception can reduce its effectiveness.

7. Emergency contraception: In cases of unprotected sex or contraceptive failure, emergency contraception can be used to prevent pregnancy. However, it must be taken within a specific time frame to be effective.

8. Incorrect application or insertion: Some contraceptive methods, like diaphragms, cervical caps, or contraceptive rings, require proper application and insertion. Errors in placement can lead to contraceptive failure.

9. Missing injection appointment: When you are on the injection family planning method, missing your next injection appointment at the hospital can lead to pregnancy.

10. IUD falling out: In some cases, during urination, IUD can fall out without the woman’s knowledge, which can lead to pregnancy when she has unprotected sex.

It’s essential for individuals using family planning methods to receive proper education and guidance on their chosen method and to use it correctly and consistently.

Jess Smith – known for playing the character as an infant on the original run of the delightfully surreal children’s television show that became a phenomenon during the late 1990s — is expecting her first baby, she revealed on Instagram Wednesday.

Although the new series has its differences, there are plenty of nods to the original series — from the whimsical theme song and adorable Sun Babies to the catchphrases the characters say.

The actress revealed that, she got pregnant at the age of 22 while she was double dating her first boyfriend and a London ‘borga’.

According to her, she was a deviant and loved partying, had multiple piercings and engaged in acts a regular 22-year-old would not indulge in.

Sandra recounted on Delay Show how she was smitten by the about 50-year-old Londoner when they met in her Kwabenya neighborhood and they began dating. Shortly after, she got pregnant and decided to have the child.

“My first boyfriend broke my virginity when I was just 20 and since then, I was a deviant so I was dating my boyfriend when I meet the Londoner. He was a lot older than me. He told me he was a divorcee with two children. It was after my pregnancy that he confessed that he was actually married with 5 children. He told me the truth and added that he could not marry me for that reason”.

Despite the setback, Sandra said the ‘borga’ had a knocking ceremony, moved in with him and they lived together for six years.

She said she cried throughout her pregnancy because she felt she had wasted her life and the man responsible for her pregnancy was not providing emotional support.

Though she fell out of love with her baby daddy, the actress said she learnt to get over it.

However, Sandra said she was sent packing abruptly when her baby daddy’s wife came back to Ghana which prematurely ended their ‘marriage’.

In spite of the split, she said he has been taking care of their daughter and they are co-parenting.

Currently, Sandra Ababio’s daughter is about 15-years-old and she plans on having more children.

“Rihanna and ASAP will spend the early days of parenthood out of the public eye and won’t make any immediate plans to debut the new baby,” one source tells ET.

They added that there has been talk of linking the baby announcement to Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation or possibly announcing on Instagram or even at her annual gala. As of now, nothing has been confirmed. TMZ was the first to report the news of the family’s new addition.

Last month, a source told ET that Rihanna and Rocky didn’t have any plans to leave Los Angeles until after their baby was born. “She’s limited work obligations as well,” the source shared, adding that Rihanna and Rocky “are each other’s rock” and have been really great about prioritising their relationship even as busy parents.

The source noted, “She knows her world is about to get exponentially busier with two babies in the house under two.”

Rihanna took the internet by storm when she unveiled her second pregnancy during the Super Bowl LVII halftime show in February. The beloved pop star revealed her baby bump during the performance, and her rep confirmed the news to ET shortly afterward.

She described motherhood as “legendary,” adding, “It’s everything. You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever.” 

RiRi also shared a photo of her son ahead of the Oscars, quipping that his frustrated facial expression was because “he found out his sibling is going to the Oscars and not him.” 

After not attending in 2022, the future mom of two returned to the Met Gala in May, her baby bump on display in a white Valentino gown.

 Mann, Thaddeus, (1908)-  explained that semen is a “viscous, creamy, slightly yellowish or greyish” substance made up of spermatozoa — that most people say sperm — and a fluid called seminal plasma.

This means that semen contains two separate components: the sperm and the fluid.

Sperm — about 1 to 5 percent of the semen — are the tadpole-like reproductive cells that contain half of the genetic information to create human offspring. The seminal plasma fluid, which is about 80 percent water, makes up the rest.

Semen, safe to ingest?

Studies attest that the components that makeup semen are safe to ingest by most people.  Also, the swallowed semen is digested in the same way as food. Though, some will experience some allergic reactions it is rare.  This is known as human seminal plasma hypersensitivity (HSP).

Is semen protein-rich?

Though, semen has a huge reputation as a rich source of protein, however, the content of the protein means that one has consumed gallons of semen to see any dietary health benefits. Also, the volume of semen ejaculate differs from person to person — depending on a variety of factors, such as age and health — protein is only a small part. It’s about one-twentieth of the entire fluid.

Are any other ingredients in semen?

Apart from the sperm, protein, and water, semen also contains a variety of other components, such as:

• sugar, both fructose, and glucose
• sodium
• citrate
• zinc
• chloride
• calcium
• lactic acid
• magnesium
• potassium
• urea

Calories?

Yes, but not as much as one would think. Also, sperm isn’t highly caloric.

Every teaspoon of ejaculate — the average amount of ejaculate produced at one time — is around five to seven calories, which is about the same as a stick of gum.

Semen, taste?

The taste depends on the individual semen. Hence, there is no universally accepted description.

it can taste bitter and salty, while for others, it can taste sugary sweet.

There is hearsay evidence from the women that what men eat could affect the taste of the semen as well when they swallowed. Some foods have been mentioned that could make semen taste more edible, or less acidic, such as:

• celery
• parsley
• wheatgrass
• cinnamon
• nutmeg
• pineapple
• papaya
• oranges

others also believed that these foods could make the semen bitter, as well as drug-like substances, such as:

• garlic
• onions
• broccoli
• cabbage
• leafy greens
• asparagus
• meat and dairy products
• alcohol
• cigarettes
• coffee

Semen,  smell?

Jen Anderson(2019) explained that semen smell also depends on many factors such as diet, health, and hygiene. There are instances where smell can smell like bleach or other household cleaners. This has to do with its makeup of ingredients, to provide a pH level where the sperm can thrive.

Unlike the vagina, which naturally skews more acidic, semen tends to be neutral or slightly alkaline. It stays around 7.26 to 8.40 on the pH scale — which ranges from 0, highly acidic, to 14, highly alkaline. On the other hand, if semen smells musky or fishy, this could be due to outside factors. Like taste, a more putrid smell could be attributed to diet, in the same way, that asparagus affects the scent of urine. Sweat and dried pee can also make it smell bitter.

Semen improves mood

One study by Michael Castleman(2011) in Psychology Today explained that:

• women whose vaginas were exposed to semen (i.e., ones who reported “never” using condoms) showed significantly better moods.
• The positive effects of semen on mood include fewer bouts of depression and suicidal thoughts.
• The effect of semen on mood could be advantageous for sexually active women over age 50 who are experiencing menopausal blues.

This means that there could be natural antidepressant properties in semen.

These may include:

• endorphins
• estrone
• prolactin
• oxytocin
• thyrotropin-releasing hormone
• serotonin

The study conducted by Gallup et al.(2002)  surveyed 293 college-age females to examine if exposure to semen, without the use of outside condoms worn on the penis, affected their overall mood.

The survey found those who were directly exposed to semen showed significantly better mood and fewer symptoms of depression. However, this is not promoting unhealthy sexual practices as condom use is still recommended to prevent sexually transmitted diseases amongst the unmarried.

Stress

Michael Castleman(2011) in Psychology Today also believed that semen on women could also have stress-relieving properties. This is a result of the mood-boosting properties of oxytocin and progesterone hormones, both of which are found in semen.

Also, it is believed that vitamin C and other antioxidants found in semen could reduce sperm impairment by fighting oxidative stress within the semen.

Improves Pregnancy health

The mood-lifting and anxiety-reducing benefits extend to pregnancy health. One case controlled-study by Einarsson et al.(2003) found that females who were exposed to sperm for longer periods, both before and during pregnancy, were less likely to develop preeclampsia, a rare pregnancy complication. Though this is one such study and more is needed.

Side Effect

Tirednesses after swallowing semen

There are instances where people get tied after swallowing semen. A study by Sharbatoghli et al.(2015) found that semen contains melatonin, the natural hormone the body releases to regulate sleep cycles. This could be the reason why some get exhausted after swallowing semen or being exposed to it during intercourse. Though more studies are needed in this area to explain in detail.

STI and Semen Swallowing

Swallowing semen like any other form of unprotected sex, can put you at risk for an STI.

Without a barrier birth control method, bacterial infections, like gonorrhea and chlamydia, can affect the throat. Skin-to-skin viral infections, like herpes, can result from contact.

Hence, it is prudent to know the person you engage in sexual intercourse with.

Allergy

Though it is not common. Wesley Sublett and Jonathan A. Bernstein(2011) found about  40,000 female semen allergies in the United States.

Symptoms of a semen allergy usually show up 20 to 30 minutes after contact or ingestion and may include:

• pain
• itching
• redness
• swelling
• hives
• difficulty breathing

Semen, spit, or swallow?

Jen Anderson(2019) answers this: “Whether you choose to spit or swallow is entirely up to you and your personal preferences. Before making a decision, make sure that you have an open conversation with your partner about their STI status. This will help you evaluate the overall level of risk. In the end, you should only do what you’re comfortable with”.

In the song, Sarkodie claims that the decision to abort their baby was solely Yvonne’s idea.

“Michael, you claim that I was desperate to abort because I needed to complete school. In 2010, when I became pregnant, I had already completed university. Anyone can verify this. I wasn’t in school, and you know it. If you want to lie, come up with a logical lie. #youspittinglies.”

She further adds, “I was pregnant at the time I launched my glaucoma foundation, around October 2010. I graduated from Central University in October 2010. It was my final year, but I had completed my coursework months before the October graduation and my pregnancy. I was only waiting for my certificate.”

On her pregnancy, she revealed it was somewhat manageable and she managed to hide it and perform at shows till seven months due to her flat tummy.

However, everything took a different twist when it was time for her to push in the labour theatre.

“I nearly gave up pushing. All thanks to God and my midwife who was very religious. She prayed for me and was singing gospel all throughout. It wasn’t even up to my due date but everything eventually became a success,” she recounted.

Currently, she stays with her husband, Manuel, and they are looking forward to starting a family.

Though she was excited about being enrolled, her first few days in the school had been rather turbulent.

Unlike her senior high school, the university was a relatively huge environment, so understanding the layout of the campus had become a burden for her.

On a few occasions, Henrietta had missed her way to her room after lectures, and her first few days in the university was becoming increasingly frustrating.

But this particular day was unusual because, after missing her way, she also realised that she had left her phone in the lecture hall.

As a result, she didn’t have any means to seek help in getting back to either her room or at least the lecture hall.

Simply put, it was a case of utter confusion for the young girl, who had been offered a course in Pharmacy at the university.

Reserachers say, while pre-cum generally does not contain sperms, it is hard to tell if a particular discharge of pre-cum has sperms in it or not.

This further explains why the withdrawal method is not an advisable way of preventing pregnancy, since the erect penis may have pre-cum that contains some amount of semen.

In 2018, about 3,000 girls dropped out of school because of pregnancies.

In 2019, that number remained relatively steady whilst in 2020, the number rose to 4,770.

The figure skyrocketed in 2020 to about 5,000 students got pregnant in the year’s first two months.

The gentleman, identified by his Twitter username as Jydeskillz, took to the platform to share testimonies and narrated the incident leading to her childbirth.

He penned that his wife took seed in 2020, but shortly after, the baby stopped growing at a point.

He indicated doctors advised a termination, but he refused that option and dwelled on his strain of faith for a miracle.

Two years on, his wife has welcomed their miracle baby whom he said is alive and bouncing.

Following the birth of the child two years later, the new father referred to the child as a miracle child.

Motherhood is a beautiful thing which is accompanied by lots of unexpected challenges.

Expectant mothers need their parents’ care, love, and assistance throughout their nine months.

Here are some things every husband can do to pamper his wife:

• Grocery shopping every weekend
• If you don’t have a washing machine. Sitting or bending down for hours to wash is not ideal at her stage. Give her some time to rest and take care of laundry.
• Massage her feet every evening.

• Accompany her to antenatal appointments.
• Pamper her every weekend by preparing her favourite meals or anything she craves for.
• Find a hairdresser to fix her hair at home because going to the saloon is very stressful at her stage.
• Pregnancy comes with mood swings. Have sex when she is in the mood and you must try positions that won’t put her off.

Sex is a natural, normal part of pregnancy if you’re having a normal pregnancy.

Penetration and intercourse’s movement won’t harm the baby, who is protected by your abdomen and the uterus’ muscular walls.

If you probably thought having sex during your pregnancy was dangerous to your baby’s health, here are some reasons why you shouldn’t be afraid at all:

• Aids blood circulation

Blood supply doubles up during pregnancy to meet the requirements of the mother and child. Increased circulation is one of the importance of sex during pregnancy period.

With the release of hormones, sex restores the adequate supply of oxygen and nutrition to the foetus to aid growth and development.

• Speeds up post-partum recovery

Orgasms during sex during pregnancy prepare the pelvic muscles for birth which in turn speeds up postpartum recovery.

Rumours were rife that she is carrying Davido’s child and is expected to become a mother-of-two but she claims the contrary.

In a recent post she made on social media, Sophia indicated that she is not pregnant and if she was, everyone would see it because her life is not hidden from the public.

This has created speculations that a fifth child is on the way for the Okojie family.

Mercy Johnson, who couldn’t ignore the comments, gave what seemed to be a cryptic reply.

She did not deny or refute the claims, but simply wrote “chai”, an expression of surprise, accompanying it with laughing emojis.

Mercy Johnson’s marriage is blessed with three daughters and a son.

The 21-year-old birthed today, June 29 in Amman Jordan, supposed to be the birthday of her first child, Munir.

Uniquely, both sons of Regina Daniels share the same birthday, putting their family in an “over the moon” spirit.

The news was broken by Regina’s politician husband, Ned Nwoko in an epistle he wrote to celebrate his son.

This would be his third son, and eighth child with four wives.

Making her own announcement, Regina believed her newborn baby is the best gift she could give to her son.

June 29th is indeed a blessed date for me and my family… With so much joy in my heart, I announce the birth of my second son.

The whitish fluid you see after ejaculation is semen. In semen is sperm, tiny tailed cells that meet an egg during conception. Every sperm has three main parts: a head, neck, and tail.

Each part also has an average size and shape. You can’t make sperm thicker, but you can make it healthier and “stronger.”

Fertility is a complex matter, and there’s no single factor that guarantees you’ll conceive. It depends on many things, among them sperm quality.

If you’re looking for ways to up the chances of conception, here are some strategies for how to make sperm stronger for pregnancy.

How much sperm does it take to get pregnant?

For any sperm test, you must provide a sample for analysis. Semen analysis measures different parameters that can tell you about your fertility including:

1. Semen volume: How much semen is present in a sample.
2. Sperm count: This is the total number of sperm in a sample. The higher your sperm count, the more likely you will fertilize an egg. 
3. Sperm motility: This refers to how sperm move and their ability to swim. If sperm have high motility, they have a better chance of reaching an egg. 
4. Sperm morphology: This is the shape of your sperm. If you have sperm with abnormal morphology, it can’t fuse with an egg and fertilize it.  
5. Sperm vitality: This is the number of live sperm present. If not enough sperm are alive, they won’t be able to make the journey to the egg. 

What is a normal sperm count?

Your count is considered normal if there are 39 million or more total sperm in your ejaculate (or more than 15 million per millilitre of semen).

However, there is a lot more to conception than just the number of sperm. For example, if you have a normal sperm count but none of the sperm is swimming forward, it’s not possible to conceive naturally.

Thick semen: is it better for pregnancy?

Thick semen might offer advantages over thin, runny semen, such as holding a higher number of sperm.

Thicker semen may also have an easier time staying in the reproductive system long enough to fertilise an egg.

Meanwhile, you have to keep in mind that semen characteristics vary from person to person, so if your ejaculate is occasionally watery or slightly thicker, it isn’t a cause for concern. Only a semen analysis can tell whether your sperm is healthy.

How to make sperm thicker and stronger

When it comes to getting stronger sperm, there are some things you can do. Healthier sperm means stronger swimmers that are more likely to reach an egg to fertilise it.

Here are seven ways you can support sperm health and boost semen quality.

• Stop smoking

Cigarettes and secondhand tobacco smoke exposure are known to affect fertility. Smoking can harm the reproductive system and damage sperm DNA. Quitting cigarettes may improve semen volume and sperm count

• Stay physically active 

There are many benefits of exercise that can boost your physical, mental, and even sexual health. Keeping active on a regular basis can lead to a higher sperm count and improve their ability to swim forward.

• Eat a healthy diet 

You’ve probably heard that a nutritious, balanced diet is important for overall health. But did you know it’s also linked to semen quality and sperm health?

Fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains are packed with nutrients, fibre, and antioxidants that may improve sperm count and help them swim better.

• Maintain a healthy weight 

Maintaining a healthy weight also supports healthy sperm. In one small study, people with obesity who lost weight had better quality semen.

• Drink less alcohol

Alcohol consumption (especially chronic use) can negatively impact the body in all sorts of ways.

This includes male fertility factors like reduced semen volume, sperm count, and sperm shape. Studies have found that reducing alcohol intake, particularly if you’re a heavy drinker, may improve these parameters.

We know that sex leads to pregnancy, but how soon after sex could you really get pregnant? The answer isn’t exact. It’s actually a range—it could be within minutes or could take a few days.

According to research, implantation can take up to two weeks to occur after having sex without using a birth control method. Although this method might sound like a long time, let’s define a few terms and explore the steps from sexual intercourse to implantation (pregnancy) in a little more detail:

• You’re in your “fertile window”

Your fertile window is the time during the month when you can conceive; this is roughly an 8-day window.

It starts about a week before ovulation (when your ovaries release an egg, and it’s available to be fertilized for up to two days).

Sperm cells can survive in the female reproductive tract for almost a week, which allows sperm from sex you have a week before ovulation to still be able to swim up to meet the egg once it’s released.

• You have unprotected sex

This allows the sperm to get near the egg. “Unprotected” means having penis-in-vagina sex (or even penis-vagina contact) without using birth control or without reliably using birth control.

That means, for example, if you take your pill most of the time but missed it for a few days or are a couple of weeks late in getting your birth control shot, you’re technically having unprotected sex and can get pregnant.

• Fertilization occurs

Fertilization is when the sperm meets the egg and fertilizes it, turning it into an embryo. It can happen as soon as a few hours after sex (if you’re ovulating at the time and the sperm are real go-getters) or up to a week after having sex (if you had sex before actually ovulating).

• Implantation occurs

Implantation is when the fertilized egg moves to the wall of the uterus and attaches itself, which is the scientific definition of pregnancy.

This can take up to a week after fertilization happens. Within a few weeks, your pregnancy hormone levels rise enough that you may feel some early pregnancy symptoms like fatigue or cramping.

This all means that, in total, you can get pregnant (i.e., the embryo implants in your uterus) anywhere from within hours of having sex to two weeks after having sex.

Does age play a role in how quickly one conceives?

Age does seem to play a role in how long it takes to get pregnant. Over age 35, the rate of conception for women begins to decline.

Interestingly, one study showed that the length of the monthly fertile window itself didn’t change for women below age 40 but did show that the overall chances of getting pregnant do decrease above age 35. Fertility for men is less affected by age than in women but does decline by the late 30s.

How to improve your chances of getting pregnant?

If you’re trying to conceive, there are a few things you can try to increase your chances of getting pregnant:

• Have sex every day in your fertile window

Many people wonder how often they should have sex to get pregnant.

Having sex frequently during your fertile window may help maximize your chances of becoming pregnant. It’s a common misconception that abstaining from sex improves sperm quality.

However, if having sex that often feels stressful, don’t worry—your chances of getting pregnant are nearly as good if you just have sex 2–3 times per week during your fertile period.

• Optimize your health

You can help ensure that your body is ready to take on the demands of pregnancy—and increase your fertility—by keeping healthy and nourishing your reproductive health.

The movie star made this known on her Instagram page on Tuesday, where she shared a picture of herself and her husband, Linus.

Describing her son’s birth as a “princely arrival”, the filmmaker expressed gratitude to God, adding that the latest addition has immersed her and her husband in unspeakable joy.

Although she is not ashamed of not having her own children, she explained that her condition makes her feel inadequate whenever it is mentioned or brought into a discussion.

Nse told a local media that she and her husband are happy in their marriage, despite the challenges and societal ridicule because “this is us; you walk in there as it’s a partnership. So what comes good, bad, ugly – it’s us, let us be.”

“I didn’t feel shame but inadequacy. I felt inadequate as a woman because I would remember every time it was mentioned. The least I would be, but I’m thankful for how I was brought up; we don’t tie shame to ourselves,” she said.

While speaking of her husband’s support, Nse Ikpe-Etim noted that “we live through life fully, and that’s how it is. My husband had stood by me through all of this because that’s the way it’s supposed to be.”

The actress disclosed her inability to conceive children in 2019 when she underwent a hysterectomy – removal of the uterus – after she was diagnosed with adenomyosis, a medical condition in which the inner lining of the uterus breaks through the muscle wall of the uterus.

The ordeal, she recounted, made her fall into depression.

“Tears dropped, and then my husband squeezed my hand. It was reassuring there was someone telling me that this reality.

Except in some cases, penetrative sex is possible in any of the three pregnancy trimesters.

In the second trimester, it is normal to feel extremely horny because there is more blood flowing to the genitals.

The first trimester is usually full of morning sickness and fatigue and that might not put a woman in the mood for sex. During the last trimester, be careful to prevent preterm labour.

It is essential to have as much sex as you can before the baby comes because the decline in your sex life when the baby arrives would be drastic and abrupt.

There are circumstances like placenta previa that can make sex unsafe, placenta previa is when the placenta is near or covers the cervix and makes penetrative sex risky. In any other event, pregnancy sex is safe. Here are some positions that will prioritize comfort;

1. Rear entry

This is not anal sex but it is when the woman is on all fours and vaginal penetration happens that way. This position allows for deeper penetration but if you notice some spotting or bleeding afterwards, don’t be worried, it is normal.

2. Laying side by side

This is when the woman makes a v-shape on the bed, with the wife’s leg on her husband’s lap. She lays comfortably and he does all the work.

3. Spooning

This is a type of cuddling. The man hugs her from the back. This position will keep the baby safe and make sex enjoyable for the mother-to-be.

4. Woman on top

With this position, the man does not have to bear all the grunt work. By being on top, her stomach is protected, and she has a good time.

5. Standing against the wall

This is almost like the rear entry, the only difference is that she is standing and her hands are on the wall.

If the woman isn’t ready for penetrative sex, then some sensual massages, oral sex or hand-to-genital sex can also do the trick.

With this in mind, she claims she decided to go down the IVF route, using a sperm donor to get pregnant. However, as she was keen to vet their medical history first, she didn’t want to opt for an anonymous donor.

Therefore, the perfect solution appeared to arise when an old friend she’d known since her high school days offered to be her donor, all while happily accepting that he’d play no parental role whatsoever in the child’s life.

The 30-year-old ended up getting pregnant with her pal’s donor sperm, and, at 33 weeks, is soon set to welcome twin daughters into the world.

However, her friend had failed to mention one very important detail during their arrangement – he hadn’t told his wife.

Taking to Reddit, she explained that she’d generously taken her friend and his wife out for dinner as a thank you, but was surprised when the wife didn’t understand where her gratitude was coming from.

She wrote: “His wife was confused when I explained the reason for the dinner and then angry, demanding to know why we kept this from her.

“I was just as shocked and asked my friend if he hadn’t told his wife. He tried to explain to both of us that he hadn’t thought it’d matter as he has no rights to them at all.

“His wife got even angrier at that part stating she isn’t comfortable with their six-year-old son having siblings that aren’t really his siblings and she wants that part changed so that her husband has a legal say over the girls.”

The poster, who goes by the username u/RadiantAppearance57, was left shocked by this demand, making it clear to the wife that she didn’t want her friend involved at all, and that she intended to raise her daughters alone.

She continued: “The three of us got into a huge argument and his wife demanded to know why I wouldn’t tell her that her husband had offered this in the first place.

The poster went on to clarify that, had she known the wife had been left in the dark, she’d never have agreed to him being her donor in the first place.

One fellow Reddit user wrote: “It wasn’t your responsibility to check with the wife – it was his! This is his problem, not yours. Stand your ground with the agreement made with him – the wife sadly has no say in it.”

First-trimester nausea and exhaustion meant that sitting in the office was challenging, to say the least.

So when the editor asked for someone to take a quick story that would involve going out for an interview, I jumped at the chance. Then, I looked at the assignment: interviewing a local witch.

Her husband was a well-known volunteer in town, and her child was on sports teams at the high school, so in many ways, she was like a lot of the soccer moms in town. However, she also did Reiki healing sessions and practiced her spirituality through connections to nature. She was eager to shed light on this other, lesser know aspect of her life. 

It was nearly Halloween, and my assignment was to cut through the misconceptions to learn what a witch was really like. Little did I know that the visit to the witch would become one of the most important events of my pregnancy.

Here’s what I learned from visiting a witch while I was pregnant.

1. We all have magic within us

“A spell is just a very clear intention,” the witch told me.

There was no special magic or voodoo involved — nothing spooky or eerie. Instead, a spell was just setting your mind to something and letting the universe, or God, or even yourself, know what you intend to have happened.

The witch pointed out that the power of positive thought — made popular by books like The Secret — has become well accepted in our society, but the idea of a spell still seemed like something from a fairy tale. However, by reframing the idea of a spell as accessing the magic and power within us, the whole concept seemed much easier to understand.

2. The real magic is believing in yourself

When my interview was complete, just before I was about to leave, the witch asked if I would like to cast a spell. I hesitated, and then thought, “Why not?”

With her instruction, I picked up herbs and a rock and tucked them into a silk satchel. I held it in my hand and thought clearly of a healthy pregnancy and easy transition to motherhood. I thanked the witch and left.

However, over the rest of the pregnancy, that satchel became magical to me. I had to touch it every day, lest I lose the magic. I knew when I ran my fingers over the soft silk that it was just a bag, some dried herbs and rock, but it came to represent the power that was within me.

Growing a baby is at once an everyday occurrence and a once-in-a-lifetime event. Millions of women have done it, and millions more will but when you’re doing it, it seems so life-changing that you doubt that anyone else has ever felt the way that you do.

Just like pregnancy, that satchel was at once magical and mundane, which is how the small purple bag came to represent so much for me throughout my pregnancy.

3. Women are powerful

During my pregnancy, I was hungry for stories of powerful women. I read everything I could about midwifery and natural birth. I needed to be reassured that everything that was happening to me was normal and that the changes in mind and body were something that millions of other women have experienced.

The witch talked about witchcraft as wisdom passed through generations of women. Spells and potions weren’t magic as much as they were secrets passed from one generation of women to the next. The prosecution against witches, she said, was really a fight against women tapping into the power and wisdom that they had cultivated for a millennium.

My pregnancy made me feel connected to the generations of women who have come before me in a way that I had never felt before. The witch’s talk of secret wisdom and internal strength built up by the fellowship of women who have been through similar experiences really struck me.

I didn’t have to feel isolated or unsure. I could trust in my body and my intuition, just like thousands of women had done before me.

4. The experience of motherhood is universal

One of my first questions for the witch was how she first became involved with the belief system. I was surprised that her first exposure to witchcraft came from the loneliness of early motherhood.

Seeking to connect with other women, she had reached out to a local mother’s group and met other women who practiced witchcraft. Over time, she learned more about the belief system and became more involved.

This woman was a generation older than me and from a very different background. However, when my daughter was born I realized that across time and circumstances the loneliness and intensity of early motherhood — and the desire to connect with other women who understood — prevailed.

After my daughter’s birth, I was surprised by the intensity of these feelings, but my experience with the witch reminded me that they were, and always had been, normal.

5. Sometimes, it’s fun to believe

“There’s a strong feminine energy watching over you,” the witch said. “A grandmother, or maybe an aunt.”

After she mentioned that, I spent days wondering which ancestor’s spirit was watching me. I asked my parents questions about their grandmothers and aunts and learned more about the women in my family than I had ever known.

Whether or not I believe in ghosts or spirits or guardian angels, letting my imagination run wild with what the witch had said was fun and helped me learn about my family in a way I would have never done otherwise.

6. It’s OK to ask about others’ belief systems

When I went to visit the witch, I didn’t know anything about witchcraft or Wicca (I learned that day that they are two different belief systems). Other than the Halloween stereotypes of cauldrons and black cats, I had no idea what to expect.

However, the witch was happy to explain her beliefs to me, showing me how they were the same and different from mainstream religions and even common cultural practices.

As I learned more about the root of her beliefs, it became clear that her practice — which many think of as inherently different from most religions — is really quite similar, with a focus on the tenants of love, respect, and giving.

Asking questions gave me a chance to learn, and gave her a chance to share a belief system that’s important to her. We had interesting conversations that left a lasting impact on me, and will ensure that next time I meet someone who is different, I will take time to learn about their beliefs.

The Barbadian songstress is believed to be hinting at her due date with her new accessory.

The pregnant star has been adding a charm bracelet from Annoushka to her look lately.

The bracelet, which her boyfriend A$AP Rocky bought in London one day before her 34th birthday last month, holds special meaning to the couple as every single charm was carefully chosen by the rapper at the U.K jewelry brand’s concession in Liberty department store.

“He was so sweet and he was very specific that the charms had to be in the order that he had arranged them,” Annoushka Ducas, founder of the jewelry brand, tells PEOPLE, “He wanted to know how each one worked, because all my charms move and open and do what you might expect and he was bowled over by that – I just think it’s the most romantic gift.”

As for what the charms represent, Annoushka explains, “The evil eye is for protection, tulips represent new life and he absolutely loved the compass, he couldn’t believe it worked and of course that’s all about direction while the mermaid represents fertility.”

Rocky also chose a green malachite lucky clover, a wild rose made with 111 blushed pink sapphires, a ruby and sapphire magic mushroom inspired by “Alice in Wonderland“, a gold love letter and an emerald love locket.

The latest of which raises the speculation about the due date of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s baby. Emerald is the birthstone for May, but neither star was born that month. The “Umbrella” hitmaker’s birthday is on February 20, while the “L$D” emcee was born in October, so the charm could be a nod to their baby’s due date.

“I’m so thrilled,” Annoushka says of her design being used by Rih. “On the cusp of becoming a mummy, I can’t help feeling that some of those charms are to do with that.” She adds, “Charms are so much about heirlooms so I hope they will become little family heirlooms for them to pass on to their children to represent their love story – that’s what he’s done for her, it’s their love story in ten charms and although the charms are detachable, she’s wearing it exactly the way he gave it to her.”

Prior to this, Rih sparked a speculation that she may be expecting a baby girl during her shopping trip. The soon-to-be first-time mom picked up a little dress when shopping for baby clothes at Target in Los Angeles earlier this month.

In a latest interview with Kofi TV, he disclosed for the first time that Selly lost an eight-month-old pregnancy.

Though he said she would be unhappy for their secret to be let out, Praye Tietia said it was about time he corrected the notion of Ghanaians.

Nearly two weeks into her pregnancy journey, and Rihanna has made it clear that she’s not going to dress like your average mom-to-be.

If her pregnancy reveal outfit comprised of an unbuttoned Chanel puffer jacket and body chains wasn’t an indication, she further emphasized her point with an archival Jean Gaultier lace-up top that framed her expectant tummy, as well as a pair of super low-rise jeans paired with a crop top.

On Wednesday, Rihanna took to Instagram to share her first post about her pregnancy, writing, “how the gang pulled up to black history month,” alongside a selfie of her baby bump.

She also included the now-infamous photos from Monday where she showed off her pregnant belly in a pink Chanel puffer coat and gold Rolex watch alongside Rocky.

People first shared the photos, which were taken by Miles Diggs against a snowy New York City setting. ASAP Mob’s official Twitter account also shared a photo of the couple, by Diggs.

News of their relationship first made headlines in November 2020 when they were seen having dinner with some friends at a New York City restaurant. It wasn’t long before they were inseparable, with Rocky calling her “the love of my life” and “my lady” during an interview with GQ.

Now, the superstar has confirmed her first pregnancy by strolling through Harlem with boyfriend A$AP Rocky — and her growing belly on full display.

“I’m ecstatic,” the singer’s dad, Ronald Fenty, told Page Six from his home in Barbados on Monday, adding: “I’m so happy that I jumped for joy. I’m still so excited.

“Rihanna always said that she wanted children, she loves kids. She always takes care of her cousins’ kids…she’s going to be a good mom.”

Fenty met Rocky after his daughter brought him home to the Caribbean island in December 2020, calling him “a very cool guy” and adding: “I like him.”

Rihanna and her father, a former alcoholic and crack addict, have had a troubled relationship over the years.

Last September, Rihanna scrapped the lawsuit she had brought against her dad, accusing him of misusing her name to benefit his own entertainment company, just weeks before they were meant to meet in court. It’s believed they settled the case.

Now Fenty seems to have reconciled with his daughter (real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty). He told Page Six that Rihanna called him with the news that he will be a grandpa on Sunday night.

“I just got the news from her last night, and she sent me some photos,” he said. “I’m just over the moon. She’s beautiful inside and out.”

The singer, who found global fame at 17 with her version of “Pon de Replay,” told British Vogue in 2020 that she had turned her attention to motherhood after her long-term relationship with Saudi billionaire businessman Hassan Jameel ended.

She said: “Since I turned 32, I’m realizing life is really short.

“You don’t have a lot of time to tolerate s–t, you know? You put so much on your plate. When you’re overwhelmed, you need to start cutting things out. And I’m overwhelmed too much…I know I will want to live differently.”

Asked where she pictured herself in 10 years, she replied: “Ten years? I’ll be 42! I’ll be ancient…I’ll have kids — three or four of ’em.”

Rihanna even made it clear that she could be a single mom, saying: “Hell, yeah!”

“I feel like society makes me want to feel like, ‘Oh, you got it wrong…’ They diminish you as a mother if there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives. But the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.”

But she won’t have to do it on her own as she appears to be fully committed to Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers).

An onlooker at Carbone restaurant in Soho earlier this month saw the couple as they shared an intimate dinner, telling Page Six: “Rocky was looking at Rihanna adoringly, and Rihanna looked so gorgeous. The hostess had to move them to a different table to accommodate Rihanna’s bump, and when she got up she was stroking her stomach.”

Both equally successful and fashionable — Rocky has appeared on the cover of GQ — they also share troubled backgrounds.

Rihanna once recounted to Rolling Stone how her father allegedly beat her mother, Monica Braithwaite, and once hit her as well. She said she suffered debilitating stress headaches as a child that stopped once her parents divorced when she was 14.

After the divorce, Braithwaite worked full time and Rihanna took over as her younger brother Rajad’s caretaker.

“I grew up fast, kind of like the second mom,” Rihanna told The Guardian.

Rocky — whose parents Adrian Mayer and Renee Black emigrated from Barbados to the US — was born and brought up in Harlem.

Rocky started rapping at eight years old, but when he was 12, his father was jailed for drug dealing. A year later, his 20-year-old brother, Ricky, was shot dead by a rival dealer. Rocky was 13 at the time, and on his way to school when his mom told him the news.

With his dad behind bars, Rocky, his mom and two sisters spent time living in shelters. They moved around frequently, from Harlem to the Bronx to Philadelphia and North Carolina. He saw “a lot of crazy s–t” growing up, he told the Red Bull Academy in 2015.

Rocky also drifted into life on the streets, starting with selling weed as a teen before moving on to crack. At the age of 16, he spent two weeks in Rikers Island for firing a gun at a neighborhood bully in Harlem.

He was “never no big-time hustler,” he insisted to journalist Dorian Lynskey in 2015, making just enough to “support my studio time” but quitting dealing before getting sucked too far in.

“That lifestyle’s wack,” Rocky said.

Rocky was 23 when he signed a $3 million major-label deal after dropping his breakout mixtape, “Live. Love. A$AP.” in 2011.

Meanwhile, Rihanna has won nine Grammy awards, acted in Hollywood movies and runs her own Fenty Beauty and Fenty Fashion lines, but has had less luck in love.

She ended up in the headlines after ex-lover, rapper Chris Brown, assaulted her on the night of the 2009 Grammys. Brown later pleaded guilty to a felony assault and was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to stay at least 50 yards from Rihanna at all times. Despite the violent incident and concern from fans, the pair embarked on a second attempt at romance in 2013 — but they broke up for good that same year.

Following her split from Jameel in January 2020 after a three-year relationship, it wasn’t long before Rihanna got together with Rocky.

Rumors about their status began circulating as early as 2013, when Rocky opened for Rihanna’s Diamonds World Tour. People magazine confirmed they were dating in November 2020.

Both Rocky and Rihanna seem to have brought some peace to each other. They spent 2020 driving from LA to NYC on a massive tour bus.

As Rocky told GQ last May, they made it their very own Great American Roadtrip. He said they listened to the Stones, the Grateful Dead and Curtis Mayfield and stopped in a few national parks. Rocky told how he dropped acid and made his own clothes, beatnik-style — sewing, patching, and tie-dyeing shirts and pants on the bus.

He called Rihanna “The One,” saying: “She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones.

“I think when you know, you know. She’s the One.”

He said she has influenced his new music, and that he was overjoyed when she took him home to Barbados two years ago.

“It was like a homecoming thing,” he said. “It was crazy. I always imagined what it would be like for my dad, before he came to America. And I got to visit those places, and believe it or not, there was something nostalgic about it. It was foreign but familiar.”

Asked if he’s ready to be a dad, he replied: “If that’s in my destiny, absolutely…I think I’d be an incredible, remarkably, overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very.”
