Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, has described as unfortunate claims by the party’s former vice chairperson that party delegates failed to vote for aspirants from the Volta region.
In his view, such comments smack of ethnic bigotry which should not be countenanced by the NDC as a national party.

Madam Desooso at the sidelines of the party’s 9th National Delegates Congress in Accra said the defeat of contestants from the Volta Region should be a cause of worry.
The failed National Organiser explained that since Volta region is deemed the World Bank of the NDC because the party garners a majority of votes from there during general elections, the absence of key members of the region from the game could spell doom for the party.
Anita Desooso who is also a former National Women’s Organiser urged the NDC to subject the outcome of the elections to deep thinking.

But in a rebuttal, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Monday said Madam Desooso goofed in saying so.
He said among the current executives, there are about four Voltarians thus her claim is incorrect.
“Everything we do as a political party is to achieve regional balance not ethnic balance. I think she got this wrong,” he stated.

The NDC Greater Accra Regional secretary could not understand why Anita is playing the tribal card when the party is making frantic efforts to unite the rank and file.
Hon. Tetteh Chai cited how even in the Greater Accra region, the party had only Madam Sherry Ayitey as a vice chairperson to buttress his point.
He stressed that the focus of the NDC is to forge ahead in unity after a successful congress for a resounding victory in 2020.
