The Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared a two-day mid-term break for all basic schools nationwide, scheduled for Monday, March 9 and Tuesday, March 10.

The break will follow Ghana’s Independence Day celebrations on Friday, March 6, during which schools across the country traditionally take part in parades and other commemorative activities.

GES has explained that the break is meant to give both pupils and teachers a brief period of rest before academic work resumes in full.

Teaching and learning will recommence on Wednesday, March 11.

In a notice shared on its official Facebook platform on Friday, February 27, the Service urged heads of schools, parents and guardians to take note of the dates and ensure that learners report back promptly so as not to interrupt the academic calendar.
