The Ahafo Regional Manager of Catholic Schools, Boakye Baafi Williams, has described examination malpractice as more dangerous to Ghana’s future than illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
He made the remarks at Bechem during a sensitisation programme organised by the Ghana Education Service to curb examination malpractice.
Speaking to Adom News, Mr Williams warned that the long-term effects of examination malpractice are far-reaching, producing unqualified individuals who may end up in critical sectors such as healthcare, education, governance, the judiciary, and the security services.
According to him, the growing trend poses a serious national threat and must be treated with the same urgency as the fight against galamsey.
He expressed concern that the country is not doing enough to address the menace, noting that efforts by key stakeholders, including GES and the West African Examinations Council, remain inadequate.
Mr Williams therefore called on government, GES, and WAEC to collaborate and invest significantly in tackling examination malpractice to safeguard the integrity of Ghana’s education system and protect the nation’s future.
