The Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has engaged investors from the United States as part of efforts to create jobs for the youth and promote tourism development in her constituency.
The meeting, which also explored broader opportunities within the Western Region and Ghana, aligns with initiatives to complement the work of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
Jomoro is widely regarded as a tourism-rich area, boasting diverse attractions rooted in its cultural heritage, coastal landscape, and wetland ecosystems.
The constituency is home to the Ankasa National Park, located within the Ankasa Conservation Area, a vast forest reserve spanning about 509 square kilometres.
Another major attraction is Nzulezo, a unique community built on stilts on the Amansuri Lake, with over 500 years of history and a population of about 450 residents.
Also notable is Fort Apollonia, the last English fort built on the Gold Coast, situated along the shores of Benyin.
The area further features the Osagyefo Barge, a dual-fired power-generating facility initially commissioned in 1999 under former President Jerry John Rawlings and later relocated during the administration of John Agyekum Kufuor.
Jomoro also boasts a 50-kilometre stretch of sandy beaches from Ekabaku to Newtown, lined with coconut trees that have largely survived the Cape Saint Paul wilt disease.
Madam Affo-Toffey, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Transport, said the engagement with the US investors is aimed at unlocking the economic potential of these sites.
“I had the honour of receiving investors from the United States to discuss tourism opportunities across Jomoro, the Western Region, and Ghana at large,” she said.
She reaffirmed her commitment to initiatives that promote employment, community development, and national growth.
“We look forward to translating these discussions into tangible investments for the benefit of our people and Ghana,” she added.
