Ghanaian Tema-based rapper, Ponobiom, says there is the need for the government to enforce laws to control marijuana if it intends decriminalising it.

According to him, legalising it without protocols limiting certain factors to control its usage would cause more harm than good in Ghana.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, monitored by Adomonline.com, the ‘Amen’ hitmaker said, “you can’t legalise without control.”

“There should be a standard to control it. You don’t just get up to legalise it,” he told host Merqury Quaye.

Ponobiom’s assertion follows rapper Kwaw Kese’s position that the government should decriminalise marijuana because its a cash crop.

The rapper explained that without regulation even farmers growing the crop for cash are likely to be cheated.

“The farmers won’t have the money to export their product without proper plans by the government. Otherwise some few rich men would be the ones benefiting. They will rather buy from the farmers and export,” he said.
