It is not out of place to cater for transportation costs of delegates – NPP aspirant https://www.adomonline.com/it-is-not-out-of-place-to-cater-for-transportation-costs-of-delegates-npp-aspirant/ Sat, 02 Dec 2023 11:52:20 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2327082 A parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Odododiodio constituency, Nii Lante Bannerman, has said there is nothing wrong with providing transportation fares for delegates.

He, however said the quantum of money given as transportation should be considerable.

“I don’t think it is out of place to give transportation to any delegate, the amount involved should be the problem. So as delegates are coming from all over to come and vote for you, at least you should appreciate them with some lunch and some transportation,” he said on Accra-based TV3.

Mr. Bannerman further expressed optimism about winning the primary to enable him to compete for the third time in the 2024 general elections.

“This is not my first time, I have come to two elections and I have succeeded in all, especially the primaries so, I don’t think this is different,” he told the journalists.

With incumbent MP, Nii Lante Vanderpuye out of the 2024 election, Mr Bannerman is hopeful he will be able to snatch the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Election 2020: Nii Lante Vanderpuye vows to resign if… https://www.adomonline.com/election-2020-nii-lante-vanderpuye-vows-to-resign-if/ Mon, 02 Nov 2020 18:31:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1875704 Member of Parliament (MP) for the Odododiodoo constituency, Nii Lante Vnaderpuye, says he is in a comfortable lead ahead of the December elections.

The MP has vowed to “beat, and beat massively” New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Nii Lante Bannerman to retain his seat come 2021.

Revealing his level of confidence on Adom TV’s ‘Sɛdɛa ɛteɛ nie’, Mr Vanderpuye vowed he will hand over his seat if he wins by a margin less than 20,000 votes.

“Mark my words; if I beat him with less than 20,000 I will willingly give up my seat for him. Even if Akufo-Addo steps down from presidency to contest as parliamentary candidate, I will still win,” he bragged.

To him, his comment is based on the fact that many NPP loyalists in his constituency have defected to the umbrella party.

His works, which he claims he started from his first term in office as far back as 2012, will speak on his behalf.

Ranging from three-storey classroom blocks to children’s hospital and a maternity block, Mr Vanderpuye was of the view that he had done enough and for that, deserves more wins.

Bukom Banku calls for Nii Lante, Bannerman’s arrest https://www.adomonline.com/bukom-banku-calls-for-nii-lante-bannermans-arrest/ Tue, 27 Oct 2020 16:30:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1873481  Popular boxer and member of the Odododiodoo National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bukom Banku, is calling for the arrest of the Member of Parliament, Nii Lante Vanderpuye and New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate, Nii Lante Bannerman.

His call comes on the back of violent clashes that marred the constituency on Sunday while members of the NDC embarked on a peace walk.

Though Bukom Banku had earlier called for more security for Mr Vanderpuye, he believes the arrest is in the right direction, adding they must sign a bond of good conduct.

“I want the Regional Police Command to arrest Bannerman and Nii Lante Vaderpuye and put before court. When there, they should be allowed to sign a bond of good behaviour and pledge that if violence continues to erupt in the constituency, they will both be jailed.

“We can’t follow these two people for our families to be maimed and destroyed in this constituency; when you call the two people to order, the fight in Odododiodoo will stop,” he said.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Citi TV, the boxer, born Braimah Kamako, disclosed he forewarned the people but could not fathom why things turned out the way it did.

“Before the fight, I told them not to fight. Immediately I left there, there was a fight. What is going on in this community? I went to the Regional Police Commander to tell him that if they don’t forestall the violence in Odododiodoo, there will be war in Ghana and people will die. We are all brothers. The nation is not for NDC or NPP. The nation is for all of us,” he noted.

Jamestown clash: Adane Best defends Nii Lante Vanderpuye, Bannerman https://www.adomonline.com/jamestown-clash-adane-best-defends-nii-lante-vanderpuye-bannerman/ Tue, 27 Oct 2020 15:43:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1873445 Celebrated musician Adane Best has waded into last Sunday’s Jamestown clash which has gained political attention.

The aftermath of the clash is members of the ruling political party pointing fingers at the Member of Parliament (MP), Nii Lante Vanderpuye and his team for their alleged involvement.

But, Adane Best is of a different opinion, insisting neither the incumbent MP nor parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party, Nii Lante Bannerman, had wished for such turnout of events.

Speaking on Accra-based Okay FM, he said both candidates do not need innocent blood shed to ascend the seat of the house of legislation.

“This is not a joking matter; it is very worrying and disturbing. Bannerman and Nii Lante Vanderpuye will never want someone to die before they come to power. They should look for a way to safeguard Bukom and Ghana as a whole,” he said.

He advised that the energies should be channeled into finding the cause and possible solution to the election-based violence rather than enjoy the blame game.

Irrespective of political affiliations, he reiterated, supporters must remember they are one, and that unity is what the country needs for development.
