The family announced this on Tuesday while receiving a delegation from the Musical Society of Nigeria, (MCSN) who paid them a condolence visit at Ikoyi, Lagos residence of the late singer.

Onwenu was a member of MCSN before her sudden demise last Tuesday after her performance at the 80th birthday party of Chief Stella Okoli, owner of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

Receiving the delegates led by Orits Wiliki, Chairman, Board of Trustees of MCSN, Onwenu’s sons, Abram and Tjiani expressed their intention to respect their late mother’s wishes by committing her remains to Mother Earth as soon as possible.

Though no particular date was announced, Onwenu’s sons, however, revealed that the late queen of songs will be buried before the end of this month.

According to them,  the burial arrangement will be announced in the coming days.

Meanwhile, signing the condolence register at the late singer’s home  KSA, who was overwhelmed by emotion, wrote ” Dear sister and colleague, may your gentle soul rest in perfect peace.  Your fans and friends all over the world will remember you forever “

Others in the delegation include the flutist, Tee Mac, who promised to perform at the service of songs of the late singer, Kenny Ogugbe, King Sunny Ade and Mayo Ayilaran, General Manager of MCSN among others.

Burial date for Prof Benneh announced https://www.adomonline.com/burial-date-for-prof-benneh-announced/ Thu, 12 Nov 2020 11:16:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1879801 The family of the murdered University of Ghana Law Faculty senior lecturer, Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh, has announced that he will be buried at a private ceremony on Saturday, November 21, 2020.

The filing past and burial service of the late Professor are scheduled to start at 7:am at the St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, University of Ghana, Legon.

A memorial service will also be held in honour of Professor Benneh a day later on November 22, 2020, at the Christ the King Catholic Church followed by a family gathering at the deceased’s East Legon residence.

He was survived by his son William Kwame Benneh.

Prof Benneh was found dead in his residence at Adjiriganor in Accra.

His body was discovered in his residence on Saturday, September 12, 2020, in a pool of blood, with his hands tied behind him and his body bearing cuts all over.

During initial investigations, several suspects were picked up but some were later released leaving Opambour Agya Badu Nkansah and James Nana Womba (who later died while in police custody) alone to stand trial.

The family said the funeral will span over three days.

The spokesperson for the family said the rites will start on the 27th of November with the actual funeral being on the 28th of November at the family house of the late legislator.

The funeral will be followed by a thanksgiving service at the School Kesim AstroTurf grounds at Mankessim from 9:00 am on Sunday, November 29.

Explaining the reason behind the choice of date, the spokesperson said there was a need to lower the late MP’s body before the actual election day of 2020.

The spokesperson made the information known at the MP’s one-week commemoration which took place at Mankessim.

The announcement was made to the hearing of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who was at the event.

The funeral is expected to come off a month and three weeks after the MP and his driver were shot in what is believed to be a robbery attack on the Abeadze Dominase – Abeadze Duadzi – Mankessim Road on his return from a campaign trip.

Information suggests that two persons have been arrested in connection with the robbery-turned-murder incidence.

Veteran highlife musician, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah broke the news of change in date on Adom FM‘s Work and Happiness show on Friday.

The family had announced that Kofi B would be buried on April 25, 2020 but the date has now been changed to March 28.

According to Mr Appiah, the family took into consideration the weather before coming out with the new date, adding that they also want a state burial for the Koforidua Flowers hitmaker.

Kofi B’s family said the earlier date was inappropriate because it can rain on that day so they rescheduled to March 28, he told host OPD.

We will bury him in Asante Akyim Agogo, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah added.
