The decision follows the scheduling of the One Week Observance of legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba and the final funeral rites of another celebrated icon, Dada KD, for the same date.

The postponement is also informed by the national grief the whole nation is going through as a result of the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaian compatriots.

Out of deep respect for these departed souls and in solidarity with their families and the nation, Asempa FM has rescheduled the event to Saturday, September 13, 2025.

Walk With the Stars is expected to bring together an array of notable figures from various sectors, including politics, music, film, and sports, both past and present, making it a memorable celebration of unity and inspiration.

Responding swiftly to an SOS appeal from the Association’s President, Baffuor Kojo Ahenkorah, the team behind the Ekosiisen Impact Project has so far raised GHS100,000 to ease the financial burden of dialysis patients who continue to face life-threatening costs despite recent government interventions.

In 2024, the government of Ghana, through the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), began covering the cost of two dialysis sessions per week for all patients in public health facilities, a move widely welcomed by kidney patients and their families. However, an additional and unavoidable expense remains: the cost of two essential injections.

Each dialysis patient is required to take Erythropoietin (EPO) before treatment to maintain adequate blood levels, and Iron Sucrose at the end of the session to keep haemoglobin levels stable. These two injections cost a minimum of GHS350 weekly, an expense that continues to push many patients to the brink, with some unable to afford the medication and succumbing to complications.

Targeted Relief for Over 370 Patients

Under the Ekosiisen Impact Project, funds have been mobilised to directly support these critical medical needs. So far, the team has channelled support to:

150 patients at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra

100 patients at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital

120 patients at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi

The donations, presented in two tranches of GHS50,000 each, the first in March and the second in May 2025, are used to purchase the EPO and Iron Sucrose injections for the most vulnerable patients.

“The President of the Renal Patients Association, Baffuor Kojo Ahenkorah, received the support on behalf of the patients and ensured that the injections were purchased and distributed directly to members. Patients then take their injections along whenever they report for dialysis,” the project team lead, Osei Bonsu (OB), Programmes Manager of Asempa FM, and Host of Ekosiisen, explained.

Sustained Advocacy and Monthly Fundraising

The Ekosiisen Impact Project has also pledged to raise at least GHS50,000 every month to sustain this support until the government steps in to absorb the cost of the two life-saving injections.

Monthly on-air fundraising campaigns are held on Ekosiisen, where some renal patients join the show live to share their struggles and personal stories.

According to OB, the public response has been overwhelming, with listeners contributing generously to the cause. He commended listeners for their contributions to the project.

A Call to Government: Absorb the Full Cost

While acknowledging the government’s effort in paying for dialysis sessions, Ekosiisen is calling for the full absorption of the total cost of renal care, including the EPO and Iron Sucrose injections.

The Minister of Health has hinted that the government may consider covering the costs under the proposed Mahama Cares initiative, but the Ekosiisen team insists that this must be fast-tracked to prevent further loss of life.

Building on Impact

The Ekosiisen Impact Project, launched in 2024, has become a beacon of community support. Its first major intervention was the construction of a three-bedroom house for a young accident victim, a gesture that drew national attention and support.

The current focus on renal patients further reflects the project’s commitment to life-saving advocacy and direct social intervention.

As the initiative continues, Ekosiisen is appealing to the public and corporate bodies to join the monthly drive to sustain lives until a permanent policy solution is reached.

The event began early Saturday morning, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic football fans from across Accra.

Attendees are enjoying a variety of exciting activities, including five-a-side football, arm wrestling, tennis, volleyball, and basketball.

The day-long celebration will conclude with a live screening of the UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Inter Milan on a giant screen.

Fans, many dressed in their favourite club jerseys, are expected to turn out in large numbers. Throughout the event, lucky participants will also have the chance to win thrilling prizes.

The launch, which took place on Wednesday night just before Real Madrid’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, brought together top personalities from the Multimedia Group.

The event was held at the Accra Academy astroturf on Saturday, October 21.

This year’s event started with a walk from the premises of Multimedia Group at 6:00 a.m. to Accra Academy.

Ghana National Supporter Union and among other fun clubs all took part in the walk.

Former players, actresses and actors were all present to grace the event.

The football competition was fearlessly contested by the 16 clubs from Accra.

All clubs displayed an impressive performance but Odokor Keep Fit emerged as the winner of the football tournament.

General Manager of Adom Brands, Abdulai Awudu and Programs Manager of Asempa FM, Philip Osei-Bonsu praised all the teams for their participation and promised that next year’s edition will be an envious one.

Odokor Keep Fit Club were awarded cash, trophy and souvenirs.

In just over 24 hours, Africa’s most eagerly anticipated competition: the African Football League (“AFL”) will kick off in Dar es Salaam, the capital of Tanzania on Friday at 18h00 local time (15h00 GMT).

The AFL is a titanic battle of strength versus strength between the giants of African football – and it doesn’t come much bigger than the reigning African champions and football royalty, Al Ahly SC, heading to Tanzania’s capital to face Simba SC and their fanatical fans in the tournament opener.

Eight of Africa’s most famous and iconic clubs will compete for the grand prize of $4 million which goes to the winners of the inaugural AFL tournament, raising the stakes considerably in a tournament that brings an exciting new African football product to the world football calendar.

The opening match on Friday between Simba and Al Ahly kicks off at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Friday 20 October at 18h00 local time (15h00 GMT) in an atmosphere that is sure to be a red-hot cauldron and full house, as Simba go up against the 11-time African champions from Cairo.

Weekend African Football League (“AFL”) Fixtures:

On Saturday, 21 October at 15h30 GMT 16-time Angolan champions Atlético Petróleos de Luanda hosts South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, the winners of the last six South African domestic league titles in a row, at Luanda’s Estadio 11 de Novembro.

The eight teams will play in a knockout format consisting of a quarter-final, semi-final and final.

AFL Prize Money:

The winners of the inaugural African Football League will receive a prize money of $4 Million.

The runner-up will get $2.8 Million. The two semi-finalists will each get $1.7 Million. The quarter-finalists will each win $900,000.

While the eight protagonists will compete for record prize money in the first edition of the AFL, in time the objective of the tournament is to be Africa’s most exciting competition, providing a new dimension in terms of entertainment, television production and the fan experience – which will complement CAF’s strong existing interclub competitions.

As someone who believed he was a footballer prodigy from childhood, he did not allow the influence of his family to completely sway him away from what he wanted to do.

With his parents more interested in him going to school, Myxtro had his mind set on other things which he was determined to pursue.

When the burning desire to stand on the field to play professionally did not succeed, he still found a way to contribute to the sports as a presenter and commentator.

Narrating his journey on Adom TV’s M’ashyase3, Myxtro revealed his greatness started as a footballer, an ability which earned him the admiration of many as early as 1999.

“It all started when I gained admission to St Joseph Training College in 1999 and there was a football match between the freshers and the school team. I was the star player and scored nine goals in the game.

“With the tactics and skilful play, the commentator conferred the name Myxtro on me and the only person I knew at the time with that name was Abele Pele so, to the commentator, I played like Abedi,” he recounted to Afia Amankwa.

Subsequently, Myxtro said he had the opportunity to captain the 2009 University of Cape Coast team for the All African Games in Uganda and also the captain for a team that represented Ghana universities at the World University Games in Serbia.

Fast forward, he secured a five-year contract with King Faisal and also played for some time at Kumasi Asante Kotoko through the help of Nimo Pharmacy who was then a board chairman of Kotoko.

During these periods of excellent play on the field, journalism found him and he had it quite easy since he had already done radio on Cape Coast-based ATL FM and Duayaw Nkwanta-based 90.1 FM.

The dialogue is on how to get the fans back to the various stadia.

Meanwhile, the second round of the Ghana Premier League started last weekend.

This was at an event held at the La Palm Royal Beach on Friday to recognise and award several individuals for their contribution and impact on society.

Fire Lady, as she is popularly known in the media space’s Ladies Time show on Asempa FM was adjudged the Radio Show of the Year.

The presenter was also adjudged the Sports Personality of the Year as well as the Discovery Woman of the Year, all at one event.

Mrs Avornyo in her acceptance speech expressed appreciation to God.

She also dedicated the award to the Multimedia Group Limited, colleagues and sports team and her husband, Mr Dela Avornyo with compliments to former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong.

A number of Ghanaians benefitted from the kind gesture of Asempa FM‘s Y’asetenam host, Prophet Nana Yaw Sarfoh, when he marked his birthday on Monday, October 31, 2022.

The celebration kickstarted on Friday, October 29, 2022, with a prayer walk and all-night service at the Nkrumah Circle.

According to the man of God, the prayer walk is usually held before his birth date purposely as a thanksgiving and spiritual exercise.

Proceeds from the service, he explained, were used to pay for the air ticket for a Ghanaian lady in Kuwait who had been on a sick bed to return home and seek medical attention.

Part of the money was also given to another sick person to seek medical attention.

To climax the celebration, a workshop will be opened to the general public, especially listeners of Y’asetenam as a means to reduce the unemployment rate in the country

Asempa FM Sports can confirm that the playing body that will be assembling for the pre-World Cup friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua which will be played in France and Spain respectively next week is unhappy with the situation and is not ready to meet the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, until the qualification bonuses are paid.

Ghana’s best performance in the history of the global showpiece was in 2010 in South Africa where the team played in the quarterfinals.

This is the story of Asempa FM’s Sports Journalist, Eric Asiedu Boadi, aka Kegyewa Nankasa, who had to defy her parents’ choices in pursuit of his passion.

As a native of Kwahu and the first child of three children, Eric lived most of his life at Bepong where he had his primary and secondary school education.

Upon completion of his Senior High School education, he began his first job as a teacher which was the desire of his parents.

Despite the good salary he received, Eric after about four years decided to resign from the teaching profession and pursue a dream he had no idea whether he will succeed or not.

Narrating his journey to Afia Amankwa Tamakloe, Kegyewa noted his greatest fear was failure as he had no mentor to guide him except for Adom FM’s Jerry Justice who he always looked up to while growing up.

“My parents advised me to continue with the teaching but I resisted because I felt it was time for me to veer into journalism.

“I left Kwahu to Accra to start a new journey which was not easy but I had to persist so I could prove a point to my parents. Unfortunately, things became worse by the day and I had to return home, beg my parents for forgiveness and they took me in,” he recounted on Adom TV’s M’ashyase3.

His life, he said, hit a major turnaround with an opportunity he had to compete in Adom Star, a reality show which was organised by the Multimedia Group Limited in 2010.

Through what he said was God’s intervention as a result of fervent prayers, fasting and hard work, he emerged the winner in the fierce contest.

As part of the winning package, he was offered an internship programme which Eric said he did not relent on but gave off his maximum best as he considered it a learning and shaping curve.

Fire Lady, as she is popularly known, who is also the hostess of Ladies Time on Asempa FM, was crowned Radio Sports Personality of the Year.

She also won Face of Youth Media at the event held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.

To climax the ceremony, she was honoured with The Special Award and a citation from the France Ambassador to Ghana Anne Sophie AVÉ. 

The dynamic and versatile sports anchor was awarded for her contribution towards humanity and her enormous impact in Ghana and beyond.

Her husband, Mr Avornyo, who was present at the event, received the awards on her behalf.

The awards scheme, put together by Dolphin House productions, seeks to honour individuals who have contributed immensely to the development of the Creative Arts Industry in Ghana.

This year’s summit aims to practically empower the youth in the country to capitalize on opportunities in Ghana’s current economy.

The event which is themed “Developing an entrepreneurial youth”, will bring exciting-yet-educating topics facilitated by seasoned speakers on thematic areas.

These speakers are experts and individuals with first-hand experience in their various fields.

Albert Kusi (LEC Group, CEO) is a successful entrepreneur, public speaker, and youth development activist. In the past decade, he has been instrumental in shaping the youth of Ghana through the LEC Group, an organization of affiliated human development interventions. He has received global recognition through notable awards schemes, including being named one of the 50 most influential Ghanaians under 40 for three years.

Prince Kofi Amoabeng is a Ghanaian businessman and a former military officer of the Ghana Armed Forces. He was a co-founder of UT Bank and owned numerous companies in Ghana. He has received many awards, including the Lifetime Achievement for Innovation in Africa (2013).

John Dumelo (Actor, Farmer, and Politician) is an actor of international recognition and entrepreneur who has expressed his knack for business through his interest in various fields. He is also known for his political aspirations and his ventures in crop and animal farming.

Mr. John K. Addo (Prudential bank MD) has over thirty (30) years of rich corporate experience in banking and finance, having worked with reputable institutions in the United Kingdom and Ghana. He is a Chartered Accountant by training and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Philip Osei Bonsu (Host of Ekosiisen) is the head of programs at Asempa FM and Head of Public Relations for the Electricity Company of Ghana in the Western Region. The 2017 Mandela Washington Fellow is a Tullow Scholar who holds an MSc in Corporate Communication and Public Affairs from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.

Hilda Nimo Tieku (CEO of Jobberman) works as a Chief Executive Officer at Jobberman, Ghana’s leading platform for talent acquisition with an estimated 40 employees, and was founded in 2012. Hilda is a focused Business Development Manager with over fourteen years of experience in exceptional planning and strategic implementation.

This year’s edition of the annual event is set to start at 12:30pm at the Jewels Lounge, Bar& Restaurant (Mile 7 roundabout) and Passion Bar and Restaurant (Tema-Community 10).

Fans of the football clubs are expected to show up at the venue in their respective jerseys to represent their teams during the match.

Ahead of the game, numerous games will be held including Ludo, Oware, cards, musical chairs, PlayStation and many more till kick off of the Champions League final at 7:00pm.

Asempa FM’s multiple award winning political talkshow, ‘Ekosii Sen’ has raised over GH¢15,000 to reward the taxi driver who returned an amount of ¢8,400 to a fishmonger who forgot her money in his car.

The said amount was raised within 30 minutes through donations from benevolent listeners who were touched by the story of the taxi driver, Isaac Ackon.

Social media went agog Wednesday when the story of the taxi driver went viral.

In a video on Facebook, three women, including the victim, had embraced the taxi driver while thanking him.

“We thank you, God,” one said. Another added, “We haven’t slept all night. We are grateful you returned it, Sir. Thank you very much”.

Many on social media said Mr. Ackon deserves a reward for his honesty.

Based on this backdrop, host of Ekosii Sen, Philip Osei Bonsu praised the taxi driver for such honesty and asked benevolent listeners to help appreciate him.

“I think this young taxi driver needs to be appreciated in a big way. We have to send the signal that it pays to be honest. It is a value we should all cherish as Ghanaians. I am really proud of him” OB said on ‘Ekosii Sen‘.

Within 30 minutes, the said amount was raised.

In an interview on Ekosii Sen on Wednesday, the taxi driver expressed profound gratitude to listeners for the gesture.

Just like every year, the 2022 edition of the Kwahu Easter Games will take place at the Atibie Methodist school park on Saturday 16th April 2022 from 8am to 5pm.

Ten towns will battle for supremacy – the towns include Obomeng, Obo, Mpraeso, Atibie, Nkwatia, Bepong, Adawso, Kwahu Tafo, Asakraka and Kotoso.

There will be two groups with five teams each. Each team will play a total of four matches with the top two moving to the semi final stage

Each group match will be played within 10 mins straight.

The semi-finals with 15 mins and finals within 20 mins if there is more time.

This year’s winner will walk away with 2,500 cedis and second place a 1,000 cedis.

The three-hour show, which runs from Mondays to Wednesdays from 7:00 pm to 10:00 and Thursday from 7:000 pm to 9:00 pm, produces and drives both local and foreign content.

Host of the programme, Enoch Worlanyo Wallace, who doubles as the Head of Sports, has a track record of making fact-based predictions, analysis, and insightful interviews.

Thursday’s show records numbers of around 100K on the Asempa 94.7 FM Facebook page with a wide range of people in and outside Ghana contributing and enjoying the exciting content.

The picture won the hearts of many and went viral when the continental club masters won the MTN FA Cup last season.

The Asempa Sports team took up the initiative and asked our amazing followers to also send in pictures of themselves and their partners repping their favourite club’s jersey.

An observation that was made as the pictures trickled in was that aside from the couples striking unique poses their jerseys were mostly customised to beautify their romance.

We received close to 50 pictures, which were screened and reduced to 20.

The pictures were displayed on the live stream of the Ultimate Sports Show daily for our followers to vote until we got our winners, the Sarpong family a.k.a Arsenal family and the Baafi family.

The donation, which was made on February 3, 2022, at the studios of Asempa FM, climaxed the birthday celebration of the multiple-award-winning journalist who is the Head of Sports for Asempa FM.

The National Marketing Performance Awards, which is the 32nd in the series, is an annual event organised by the CIMG to honour individuals and organisations for their marketing excellence and innovation.

The teenager was involved in a life-threatening accident after a speeding taxi driver lost control of his vehicle and hit him.

Moses was buying food at Trede Junction in the Ashanti Region when a taxi driver hit him at the spot he stood.

He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where an urgent surgery was performed and his right leg amputated from his thigh to save his life.

He has for the past three months been at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after going through four surgeries but doctors say he has about three more to go.

So far, about GHS 35,000 has been raised and donated to him at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after his story touched the hearts of many Asempa FM listeners.

The Roads and Highways Minister, Kwesi Amoako-Atta, has also made a cheque donation of GH¢30,000.00 after he called into Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday.

The journalist met the young boy and his distraught mother at the hospital while doing a follow-up to his award-winning documentary, ‘Crushed’.

On his Hospital bed, what he thinks of daily is who would be playing the church drum in his absence and the person to lead his school during 6th March parades since he takes up these roles on such occassions.

Donations are still welcome and can be brought to the studios of Asempa FM at Kokomlemle.

The insightful seminar served as a capacity building for clubs. 

Clubs, who signed up for the programme, were taken through rigorous channels on how to brand themselves and attract sponsorships. 

Dr Ike Tandoah, who was the facilitator of the programme, speaking at the seminar, implored the clubs to develop channels on how to engage their supporters. 

He also insisted getting a database for the supporters is key. 

“I was sad when clubs failed to take advantage of the Covid-19 era because I was expecting them to redesign themselves and engage their fans because there was no football. 

“In the era where we are in now, proper branding and engagement of fans is key in everything. 

“I am impressed with how Great Olympics are engaging their fans and everybody is happy regardless of your affiliation and it makes the Premier League attractive but most Communications Directors of clubs don’t know this. 

‘Build a brand that will help the club to attract sponsorships from the corporate world and that is what the clubs must do,” he added. 

The programme, which was endorsed by elite clubs in the Ghana Premier League, was well attended.

Representatives from the Sports Ministry, Ghana League Clubs Association [GHALCA] members and other media personalities were all present at this insightful programme.

The aim of the programme was to help the clubs take advantage of the new media and brand themselves properly.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr Oraku lauded the Asempa Sports team for such an insightful programme for the clubs.

According to him, he will be hoping for more capacity building for coaches as well.

“Capacity building is key and it’s a subject matter I have spoken about since we started the journey to bring back the love for our football,” he said.

“We are looking for more capacity for our football coaches in the future as well.

“It is so important that we take this seminar important because this is a medium that can help us to learn more and how to help our football to do well,” he added.

The programme was held at the Sun Lodge Hotel in Accra.

The programme aimed at drawing the attention of elite clubs to how to secure sponsorships and help in branding their clubs properly. 

Speaking at the seminar, Mr Okraku lauded Asempa FM for such an initiative.

The seminar was to help football clubs in the premier league as well as the Women’s league on how to secure sponsorships and brand their clubs for optimum impact.

The over all goal is also to help make the local league attractive through effective marketing and branding strategies.

Club representatives were also coached on how to brand their clubs to draw the attention of the corporate world. 

Highly ranked personalities in Ghanaian football were all present at the insightful seminar. 

Media personalities, freelancers and representatives from the Sports Ministry were all present at the seminar. 

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, Ike Tandoh, Club PRO’s among other personalities in football circles were also present. 

The seminar which is an initiative of Asempa Sports seeks to provide Branding and Marketing training for elite football clubs in Ghana (Ghana Premier League and Women’s Premier League Clubs).

The seminar will be held at the Sun Lodge Hotel, Tesano from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on May 14, 2021.

The programme will be facilitated by Dr Isaac Tandoh (APR, MCIM), a Lecturer at the Faculty of Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing at Ghana Institute of Journalism.

Dr Tandoh is a consummate corporate anthropologist and an integrated marketing communications scholar with 18 years of dutifully earned experience in Corporate Communications, Integrated Marketing Communications, Brand Communications, Journalism, Creative writing and Strategic Management.

He has almost two decades of professional engagements serving as head of brands communications, lead spokesperson, and consultant for both local and international brands.

Professional engagements span across multiple industries including Academia, Media, Banking, Publishing, Development Work (INGO) and Consultancy.

He holds a PhD – Management (Outstanding) – Integrated Marketing Communications from the University of Central Nicaragua, an MBA with a focus on Integrated Marketing Communications from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, a BBA -Banking and Finance from the Christian Service University College, Ghana and a Diploma in Communications Studies from the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Ghana.

She arrived in Ghana on Thursday, April 8, 2021, onboard EgyptAir.

Miss Gyamea, believed to be in her 20s, reportedly travelled out of the country in 2020, to seek greener pastures.

However, for circumstances still not known, social media was inundated with videos of her in a bizarre situation.

The young lady, who left her family based at Nkyenkyemaam, a community near Berekum in the Bono Region healthy, was now reported to be battling mental illness.

The video spotted her in an unkept manner, exhibiting strange behaviours.

The situation caught the attention of the host of Asempa FM’s Abrokyire Nkomo, Kwaku Amankwatia, popularly known as Akonta Joe, to rally support for her evacuation.

Following series of consultations, the evacuation was made possible through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and the Multimedia Group.

Miss Gyamea arrived at the Kotoka International Airport to a joyous welcome from some staff of the Multimedia Group, family and loved ones.

A special appreciation is also extended to Alhaji Habib Isaka of the Ghana Consulate in Saudi Arabia and Richard Nyantakyi Amponsah, a Ghanaian based in Oman who made Josephine’s predicament public knowledge, as well as Yaw Kwakwa, Managing Director, Ghana Airports Company.

The event, which happens to be the third edition, is ongoing at the Amenfiman Senior High School Assembly hall at Wassa Akropong in the Western Region.

The thought leadership forum seeks to spearhead policy discussions on illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey in the country.

It would focus on detailed discussions on the havoc wreaked in the area which happens to be one of the major galamsey prone areas and how to solve associated challenges to build a better Ghana.

Major water sources in the area, notably River Ankobra have been destroyed due to galamsey.

The finale was held at Silicon House in Accra.

A total of 16 communities were battling for the ultimate and after weeks of stiff competition, Amasaman has been crowned champions of the competition.

Amasaman amazed a total of 42 points in the finals of the competition after three rounds.

An amount f Ghc2,000 was handed over to the winners with souvenirs from sponsors whiles Kwashiman, who were the runners ups also took home Ghc1,000.

The maiden edition of the Asempa FM Community Sports Quiz was to engage the sports audience and test their knowledge on the field of sports.
