During Hon. Kofi Adams’ interview on the Ultimate Sports Show on Asempa FM on 13th October 2025, his comments were inaccurately captured on a quote card, resulting in a misrepresentation of his actual position.

We recognize that the wording on the artwork may have created a misleading impression.

For clarity, the Honorable Minister stated that the final decision on player selection rests solely with the technical team, and he underscored the importance of transparency and merit-based selection.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah champions walking for health and national development https://www.adomonline.com/chief-of-staff-julius-debrah-champions-walking-for-health-and-national-development/ Sun, 14 Sep 2025 12:34:44 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2578363 Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has urged Ghanaians to adopt walking as a lifestyle habit, describing it as a powerful tool for healthy living, unity, and national progress.

Addressing participants at Asempa 94.7 FM’s “Walk With the Stars” event in Accra on Saturday, September 13, Mr. Debrah stressed that walking goes beyond exercise, serving as a discipline that strengthens both body and spirit.

“God did not create us to be idle,” he said. “He created us to move — to walk, to work, and to live actively. Sitting down or sleeping all day is not what we were made for.”

He noted that regular walking helps prevent sickness and prolongs life. “Walking reduces the risk of illness. Everyone who joined this walk today has invested in at least five extra years of good health,” he declared to loud applause.

The Chief of Staff encouraged citizens of all ages to make walking part of their daily routines.

“Even if it’s just around your home, or an evening stroll with your family, it will make a difference. Every time there is a walk, join it. And when there isn’t, organise one in your community, school, workplace, or neighbourhood,” he advised.

Mr. Debrah further underscored the broader benefits of a walking culture for the nation.

“A country with citizens who walk is a country that will live longer, think sharper, and move faster. Health is not only about hospitals; it is about prevention, lifestyle, and the daily choices we make.”

He concluded with a rousing appeal: “Let us walk, not only for fitness, but for discipline, for unity, and for the future of Ghana. God bless you all, and God bless our beloved country.”

The 2025 Asempa FM “Walk With the Stars” event drew hundreds of participants, fostering community spirit while promoting health, wellness, and national pride.

Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen supports renal patients with GHS100K, urges gov’t to absorb full cost of dialysis care https://www.adomonline.com/asempa-fms-ekosiisen-supports-renal-patients-with-ghs100k-urges-govt-to-absorb-full-cost-of-dialysis-care/ Sun, 13 Jul 2025 16:55:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2554766 The Ekosiisen Impact Project, an initiative under Asempa FM’s flagship current affairs programme Ekosiisen, has intensified its support for renal patients across Ghana, following a distress call from the Renal Patients Association of Ghana.

Responding swiftly to an SOS appeal from the Association’s President, Baffuor Kojo Ahenkorah, the team behind the Ekosiisen Impact Project has so far raised GHS100,000 to ease the financial burden of dialysis patients who continue to face life-threatening costs despite recent government interventions.

In 2024, the government of Ghana, through the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), began covering the cost of two dialysis sessions per week for all patients in public health facilities, a move widely welcomed by kidney patients and their families. However, an additional and unavoidable expense remains: the cost of two essential injections.

Each dialysis patient is required to take Erythropoietin (EPO) before treatment to maintain adequate blood levels, and Iron Sucrose at the end of the session to keep haemoglobin levels stable. These two injections cost a minimum of GHS350 weekly, an expense that continues to push many patients to the brink, with some unable to afford the medication and succumbing to complications.

Targeted Relief for Over 370 Patients

Under the Ekosiisen Impact Project, funds have been mobilised to directly support these critical medical needs. So far, the team has channelled support to:

150 patients at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra

100 patients at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital

120 patients at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi

The donations, presented in two tranches of GHS50,000 each, the first in March and the second in May 2025, are used to purchase the EPO and Iron Sucrose injections for the most vulnerable patients.

“The President of the Renal Patients Association, Baffuor Kojo Ahenkorah, received the support on behalf of the patients and ensured that the injections were purchased and distributed directly to members. Patients then take their injections along whenever they report for dialysis,” the project team lead, Osei Bonsu (OB), Programmes Manager of Asempa FM, and Host of Ekosiisen, explained.

Sustained Advocacy and Monthly Fundraising

The Ekosiisen Impact Project has also pledged to raise at least GHS50,000 every month to sustain this support until the government steps in to absorb the cost of the two life-saving injections.

Monthly on-air fundraising campaigns are held on Ekosiisen, where some renal patients join the show live to share their struggles and personal stories.

President of the Renal Patients Association, Baffuor Kojo Ahenkorah, in the studios of Asempa FM, after receiving a cash donation.

According to OB, the public response has been overwhelming, with listeners contributing generously to the cause. He commended listeners for their contributions to the project.

Beneficiary renal patients gather to receive their injections.

A Call to Government: Absorb the Full Cost

While acknowledging the government’s effort in paying for dialysis sessions, Ekosiisen is calling for the full absorption of the total cost of renal care, including the EPO and Iron Sucrose injections.

The Minister of Health has hinted that the government may consider covering the costs under the proposed Mahama Cares initiative, but the Ekosiisen team insists that this must be fast-tracked to prevent further loss of life.

Building on Impact

The Ekosiisen Impact Project, launched in 2024, has become a beacon of community support. Its first major intervention was the construction of a three-bedroom house for a young accident victim, a gesture that drew national attention and support.

The current focus on renal patients further reflects the project’s commitment to life-saving advocacy and direct social intervention.

As the initiative continues, Ekosiisen is appealing to the public and corporate bodies to join the monthly drive to sustain lives until a permanent policy solution is reached.

One of the fathers of the Charismatic Movement in Ghana, Reverend Steve Mensah of the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry (CEM), has publicly endorsed Asempa FM’s popular current affairs show, Ekosiisen.

According to him, Ekosiisen is a go-to programme for staying updated on national issues.

Speaking passionately about his loyalty to the show, Rev. Mensah praised Ekosiisen for its consistent coverage of current events and engaging discussions.

“I’m a keen listener of Ekosiisen and follow all the discussions—who is winning, who is losing, whatever is happening. That’s how I understand current issues because they are the most current radio station that discusses current things,” he said.

Rev. Mensah also described himself as a devoted fan of the show, crediting it for keeping him informed about the latest developments in the country.

“For Ekosiisen, I don’t miss it. I think this year, I haven’t missed it more than four or five times. Every day, when I sit in my car, my driver doesn’t tune in to anything apart from 94.7 – Asempa FM… I am a faithful listener.”

The revered pastor expressed his deep admiration for the programme and playfully noted that his loyalty deserves an award.

“There are other stations, but I am for Ekosiisen. I don’t know why they haven’t given me an award because I am one person who listens to them, but they don’t know me,” he said with a smile.

Mrs Avornyo met Guardiola after City’s pre-season friendly victory over Chelsea at Ohio Stadium.

Reflecting on the encounter, she shared, “On a rainy Saturday after Manchester City won 4-2 against  Chelsea in Columbus Ohio, I stood at the entrance of the dressing room just to film the players and officials.

“Beyond my expectations, I came face to face with the man regarded as one of the best, if not the best coach in the World Joseph Guardiola Sala, affectionately called Pep Guardiola. He picked the surname of his dad Guardiola, and mum Sala.

“I had unknowingly stepped out of my way closer to the entrance and was amazed to see him. I don’t even know how I shouted his name, to which he responded nicely and touched my chin, I gestured for a short interview, and he beckoned me to walk alongside him, but he had to be whisked away as he was needed for sponsors’ adverts around the stadium.”

Fire Lady as she is popularly called also met Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland.

She wrote: Right in front of me me is Manchester City Striker Haaland signing an autograph for an unnamed man after City defeated Chelsea in the US. The man was a guest of the organisers of the match and reportedly paid ten thousand six hundred dollars before being given access to the player for his autograph, a picture with him and a signed jersey after the match.

“But I stood right there on the same grounds with them without paying anything. What do you call this if not Grace. Persevere in whatever you want to do and with passion and hard work, you will always go places” Fire Lady added.

Meet Asempa FM presenter who is a former footballer https://www.adomonline.com/meet-asempa-fm-presenter-who-is-a-former-footballer/ Wed, 02 Aug 2023 13:22:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2279481 Asempa FM sports presenter, Andy Kwaku Obeng, widely known as Myxtro, has revealed he was torn between the career choices of his family and personal preferences.

As someone who believed he was a footballer prodigy from childhood, he did not allow the influence of his family to completely sway him away from what he wanted to do.

With his parents more interested in him going to school, Myxtro had his mind set on other things which he was determined to pursue.

When the burning desire to stand on the field to play professionally did not succeed, he still found a way to contribute to the sports as a presenter and commentator.

Narrating his journey on Adom TV’s M’ashyase3, Myxtro revealed his greatness started as a footballer, an ability which earned him the admiration of many as early as 1999.

“It all started when I gained admission to St Joseph Training College in 1999 and there was a football match between the freshers and the school team. I was the star player and scored nine goals in the game.

“With the tactics and skilful play, the commentator conferred the name Myxtro on me and the only person I knew at the time with that name was Abele Pele so, to the commentator, I played like Abedi,” he recounted to Afia Amankwa.

Subsequently, Myxtro said he had the opportunity to captain the 2009 University of Cape Coast team for the All African Games in Uganda and also the captain for a team that represented Ghana universities at the World University Games in Serbia.

Fast forward, he secured a five-year contract with King Faisal and also played for some time at Kumasi Asante Kotoko through the help of Nimo Pharmacy who was then a board chairman of Kotoko.

During these periods of excellent play on the field, journalism found him and he had it quite easy since he had already done radio on Cape Coast-based ATL FM and Duayaw Nkwanta-based 90.1 FM.

A number of Ghanaians benefitted from the kind gesture of Asempa FM‘s Y’asetenam host, Prophet Nana Yaw Sarfoh, when he marked his birthday on Monday, October 31, 2022.

Asempa FM Reports: Black Stars players yet to be paid 2022 World Cup qualification bonuses https://www.adomonline.com/asempa-fm-reports-black-stars-players-yet-to-be-paid-2022-world-cup-qualification-bonuses/ Fri, 16 Sep 2022 04:32:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2163119 Your most authoritative sports station, Asempa FM, can confirm that the playing body of the Black Stars are yet to receive their qualification bonuses after securing a place in the 2022 World Cup.

Ghana booked a spot in the Mundial at the expense of Nigeria in a two-legged tie in March this year.

After a 0-0 game in the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium, the technical team led by Otto Addo, as the head coach secured a 1-1 drawn game at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja to return to the global showpiece with away goal rule having failed to qualify in 2018 in Russia.

However, investigations by the Asempa FM Sports Team have revealed that the players are yet to be paid their qualification bonuses.

It is worthy to indicate that their per diems and winning bonuses have all been settled by the sector ministry but the qualification bonus is yet to be paid after seven months.

Asempa FM Sports can confirm that the playing body that will be assembling for the pre-World Cup friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua which will be played in France and Spain respectively next week is unhappy with the situation and is not ready to meet the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, until the qualification bonuses are paid.

Each player is expected to pocket $80,000 as a qualification bonus.

Ghana will again engage Switzerland in October in the final preparatory game before the team jets to Qatar for the Mundial which kicks off from November 20 to December 18.

Ghana, who are housed in Group H, will open their campaign against Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha.

Four days later, the Black Stars return to action with a clash with South Korea at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.

Ghana will wrap up its group stage adventure with its much-anticipated encounter with Uruguay at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah.

The Black Stars, after an abysmal and shambolic display during the 2014 World Cup, will be aiming to improve and secure qualification to the next round.

Ghana’s best performance in the history of the global showpiece was in 2010 in South Africa where the team played in the quarterfinals.

Ditching teaching for journalism; The story of Asempa FM’s ‘Kegyiwa Nankasa’ https://www.adomonline.com/ditching-teaching-for-journalism-the-story-of-asempa-fms-kegyiwa-nankasa/ Mon, 12 Sep 2022 16:15:10 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2161826 With the family as an important socialisation agent in the life of every individual, we’re mostly torn between the career choices from the family and personal preferences.

This is the story of Asempa FM’s Sports Journalist, Eric Asiedu Boadi, aka Kegyewa Nankasa, who had to defy her parents’ choices in pursuit of his passion.

As a native of Kwahu and the first child of three children, Eric lived most of his life at Bepong where he had his primary and secondary school education.

Upon completion of his Senior High School education, he began his first job as a teacher which was the desire of his parents.

Despite the good salary he received, Eric after about four years decided to resign from the teaching profession and pursue a dream he had no idea whether he will succeed or not.

Narrating his journey to Afia Amankwa Tamakloe, Kegyewa noted his greatest fear was failure as he had no mentor to guide him except for Adom FM’s Jerry Justice who he always looked up to while growing up.

Sports Journalist, Eric Asiedu Boadi.

“My parents advised me to continue with the teaching but I resisted because I felt it was time for me to veer into journalism.

“I left Kwahu to Accra to start a new journey which was not easy but I had to persist so I could prove a point to my parents. Unfortunately, things became worse by the day and I had to return home, beg my parents for forgiveness and they took me in,” he recounted on Adom TV’s M’ashyase3.

His life, he said, hit a major turnaround with an opportunity he had to compete in Adom Star, a reality show which was organised by the Multimedia Group Limited in 2010.

Through what he said was God’s intervention as a result of fervent prayers, fasting and hard work, he emerged the winner in the fierce contest.

As part of the winning package, he was offered an internship programme which Eric said he did not relent on but gave off his maximum best as he considered it a learning and shaping curve.

Winners of Asempa FM’s ‘Rep your Jersey Couples Edition’ receive ultimate prizes https://www.adomonline.com/winners-of-asempa-fms-rep-your-jersey-couples-edition-receive-ultimate-prizes/ Thu, 24 Feb 2022 11:58:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2083907 Asempa FM’s ‘Rep Your Jersey Couples Edition’, came to fruition after Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Attah and his wife shared an adorable photo of the two rocking the Phobia jersey.

The picture won the hearts of many and went viral when the continental club masters won the MTN FA Cup last season.

The Asempa Sports team took up the initiative and asked our amazing followers to also send in pictures of themselves and their partners repping their favourite club’s jersey.

An observation that was made as the pictures trickled in was that aside from the couples striking unique poses their jerseys were mostly customised to beautify their romance.

We received close to 50 pictures, which were screened and reduced to 20.

The pictures were displayed on the live stream of the Ultimate Sports Show daily for our followers to vote until we got our winners, the Sarpong family a.k.a Arsenal family and the Baafi family.

Okudzeto Ablakwa adjudged 2021 Best Performing MP https://www.adomonline.com/okudzeto-ablakwa-adjudged-2021-best-performing-mp/ Fri, 31 Dec 2021 13:59:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2063628 North Tongu Member of Parliament (MP), Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has been adjudged the Best Performing MP for 2021.

This was in a rating done by your most authoritative social, political and current affairs talk show, Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen.

Dubbed Ekosii sen Awards, it was in recognition of the MP’s hard work in the eighth parliament.

The team used benchmarks based on tangible projects executed in their constituencies, performance on the floor of Parliament, their visibility in the constituency and social media presence.

The young politician has dominated headlines in 2021 for various advocacies.

Notably was a controversy he stirred when he alleged that President Nana Akufo-Addo hired a private jet at the cost of ¢2.8 million on his travels to France, Belgium, and South Africa at the expense of tax burdened Ghanaians.

READ ON:

He later alleged that the President had once again chartered another luxurious aircraft on his recent foreign trips to the UK and Germany.

He filed urgent questions in Parliament in his quest to seek transparency and accountability on the cost of the trips.

However, all his attempts to get the relevant stakeholders to provide answers have proven futile over claims that it is a matter of security.

But the MP says it is not the end of the road and has revealed steps have been initiated to trigger a bipartisan probe into the travels.

This is the second time in three years that the socio-economic-political talk show has won the prestigious award.

The 32nd Awards since its inception focused on repositioning Ghana to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Agreement for economic development.

At the 25th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards held in October 2020, Ekosiisen also won the ‘Political Programme of the Year’.

Osei Bonsu (OB), the show host who doubles as the Programmes Manager of Asempa FM, paid glowing tribute to his production team.

“This is incredible. It means a lot to me and I am extremely proud. This is grace at work”, he said.

Ekosiisen wins CIMG Radio Programme of the Year 2020

He, however, acknowledged that the feat could not have been achieved without the amazing effort put in by producers of the show led by Dominic Kissi Yeboah.

He also paid glowing tribute to all his predecessors who worked tirelessly to build the show into the huge brand it has become today.

Winning the award in his view only means that a lot more needs to be done —“We were here in 2019 and we’re back here in 2021.

“This places onerous responsibility on us. We have to continue raising the bar. Our listeners expect a lot from us and we can’t disappoint them.”

The National Marketing Performance Awards, which is the 32nd in the series, is an annual event organised by the CIMG to honour individuals and organisations for their marketing excellence and innovation.

The Multimedia Group won two other special awards — the CIMG President Special Award to Adom Brands and Joy Brands.
