The Diasporan Affairs Office of the Office of the President has announced the second edition of the Ghana Diasporan Homecoming Summit.

The summit is scheduled to run from Wednesday, July 3 to Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The 2019 summit themed “recognizing the potential of the Ghanaian diaspora” is under the leadership of H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who would also be the guest of honour.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the Director of Diasporan Affairs, Akwasi Awua Ababio said the summit formed part of activities for the “year of return” celebrations.

“The event will not only highlight past contributions but will focus on present contributions as well, whiles furthering the advocacy for political, economic, and all other systems and policies that would facilitate future contributions by the Ghanaian Diaspora; it will be an event of networking and to discuss the diaspora policy,” he said.

The planning committee of the summit is made up of a number of MDA’s including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministries of Interior, Information and the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre as well as the Tourism Ministry.

The Ghana Diaspora Celebration and Homecoming Summit 2019 (GDHS’19) is a four-day event to recognise and celebrate the contributions of Ghanaian diasporans to nation-building.
