Residents of four host communities of Adamus Resources Limited have performed traditional rites to oppose any attempt to restore the company’s mining concession, invoking their deities to prevent its return.

The symbolic exercise, which involved the pouring of libation, was carried out by residents of Salma, Anwia, Akango and Duale, who say they are determined to resist any move to allow the mining firm back into their communities.

According to the Abusuapanyin, Kwaw Nkrumah, the ritual serves both as a protest and a spiritual appeal to protect their lands and livelihoods.

The development follows the recent revocation of the company’s mining licence by government over alleged illegal operations and breaches of regulatory requirements.

Residents insist the decision must remain final.

Traditional leaders who participated in the exercise said the invocation reflects the depth of anger and concern among community members, stressing that their lands remain their primary source of livelihood.

They are therefore calling on government to uphold its decision and ensure that the company does not return to the area.

Community members accuse the company of causing significant environmental damage, including the destruction of farmlands and pollution of water bodies, which they say has worsened living conditions.

Some residents who spoke to the media warned that they will continue to resist the company through lawful means, cautioning that any attempt to reinstate the concession could trigger renewed tensions.
