Albert Kan-Dapaah, National Security boss

Editor of online news portal, Modernghana.com, Emmanuel Ajafor Abugri, has been narrating his ordeal at the National Security Secretariat.

Mr Abugri said when he was released, he was ordered by an operative on phone not to utter a word about what happened in the cells to anyone.

He said he was subjected to beatings and slaps for ‘unconvincing’ answers which lasted for an hour.

According to him, he was molested and was made to go through a ‘military style’ torture and his phones and gadgets seized.

“My face was covered and was conveyed to an unknown building on Friday and later questioned about stories on my news portal. I was molested for using a pseudo name to write a story on my portal. I explained to them that I wasn’t the one but they wouldn’t take it.

“The guy at their reception, who released me, called one of their leaders and that person spoke to me on phone and told me that whatever happened there, ‘don’t go and discuss with anyone. It remains confidential.’ Meaning the torturing, the questioning and all shouldn’t be out there,” he said on Joy News’ AM show, Wednesday.

Asked why he has not reported the matter to the police, Mr Abugri said “I hesitated to go and report, who are you to go and report the national security, who are you?” he questioned.

That notwithstanding, the worried editor said he has consulted his lawyers and is in the process of seeking legal remedies.

Mr Abugri made these statements when recounting alleged acts of torture he suffered at the hands of National Security Operatives after being detained last Thursday.
