The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has clarified that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is fully responsible for providing accommodation for the head coach of the Black Stars, insisting that the ministry does not cover such expenses.
His comments come amid public debate over the arrangement for the current head coach, who is being housed in a hotel after the official residence earmarked for the position was converted into a technical directorate.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr Adams stressed that the responsibility for housing the national team coach lies squarely with the football governing body.
“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) pays the coaches’ housing expenses, not the state [Ministry],” he said.
“If he [Carlos Queiroz] is retained as the head coach, the FA has to find accommodation for the coach, whether they revert the technical hub back to the residence or find another place to rent, but it’s solely the FA’s responsibility.
“In my one and a half years as a Sports Minister, I haven’t received any accommodation bill to settle,” the Buem MP added.
Meanwhile, new Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has travelled to Europe on a scouting mission as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana, set for their fifth World Cup appearance, have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The team will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
