Gunshots have allegedly been fired at the Baweleshie Polling Centre in the ongoing by-election in the Ayawaso constituency following an impasse over the polls.

The gunshots according to Multimedia reporter, Roland Walker, was fired around the candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Delali Kwasi Brempong’s residence.

Blood stains, he reported, could be seen at the Baweleshie polling centre.

Reports say the chaos was triggered by some individuals suspected to belong to a vigilante group.

Roland Walker reported on Adom FM’s morning show “Dwaso Nsem” Thursday that MP for Ningo Prampram, Sam George, claims two persons were shot but one person is dead.

Meanwhile, Mr Sam George on his Facebook is alleging to have been assaulted by some members believed to be NPP Invincible Forces attired in National Security Council shirts and vests.

“I have just been assaulted by several members of the NPP Invincible Forces attired in National Security Council shirts and vests. They fired several rounds of ammunition at me simply because I was doing my legal job of monitoring the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

“President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, I am grateful to you,” he wrote on his facebook post.

The by-election has been necessitated by the demise of the MP of the area Emmanuel Agyarko.

Mr Kyeremanteng Agyarko died in November at a hospital in the United States after a protracted ailment.

Political watchers say the polls is a straight fight between one of the late MP’s wive’s Lydia Alhassan and the NDC’s Delali Kwesi Brempong
