One of the most talked-about moments at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards came right after Ghanaian star Black Sherif was announced as winner of Album of the Year.

Before the applause even fully settled, he turned what is usually a personal celebration into something unexpected.

Standing on stage, Black Sherif revealed he would share part of the GHC100,000 prize attached to the award with fellow artiste Arathejay; a move that immediately sparked reaction inside the arena and quickly became one of the defining talking points of TGMA 27.

He also handed over his album listening session benefit to Gonaboy, extending the gesture to another emerging voice in the industry.

The GHC100K prize is sponsored by Guinness Ghana as part of a broader package tied to the Album of the Year category. Beyond the cash reward, the winning artiste also receives support towards the production of a music video for their next project, along with curated business intelligence designed to help shape both creative direction and commercial strategy.

It is part of Guinness Ghana’s wider push to make its involvement in the awards more than ceremonial which offers sustained support aimed at strengthening the creative economy beyond the awards night itself.

But on this night, it was Black Sherif’s decision that stole attention.

In a room filled with competition and individual moments of triumph, he chose to shift from rivalry to recognition.
