Gospel musician Piesie Esther has secured one win at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, taking home the Best Traditional Gospel Song of the Year award with her hit “Nyame Ye.”
The song, which has enjoyed strong reception among gospel music lovers throughout the year, stood out in a competitive category that featured some of the most notable gospel records of the period.
“Nyame Ye” edged out strong contenders including “Correct” by Joyce Blessing featuring King Paluta, “So Far So Good” by Mabel Okyere, “M’aseda” by Kofi Owusu Peprah featuring Diana Hamilton, “Akorfala” by Celestine Donkor featuring Diana Hamilton, and “Baba God (Matthew 6:26)” by Paul Enenche.
Despite the win, Piesie Esther missed out on the other two categories she was nominated in. She was up for Best Gospel Artiste of the Year and Most Popular Song of the Year with “Nyame Ye,” but lost out in both categories.
Her performance at this year’s awards still marks a strong showing, as she continues to maintain her relevance in Ghana’s gospel music space with consistent releases and growing audience appeal.
The win also highlights the steady impact of “Nyame Ye,” which has become one of her standout records in recent times, even as the competition across categories remains highly competitive at the TGMA stage.
