Man who killed lover, 2 children at Tuba arrested after year-long manhunt

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested Samuel Amoah, popularly known as Biggie, in connection with the killing of a mother and her two children at Tuba Net-Link Estates, a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region.

Addressing the media in Accra on Saturday, the Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, said the crime occurred on May 19, 2024, when officers responded to a distress call about a violent attack in a home.

Upon arrival, police discovered the body of 39-year-old Alberta Hagan and two of her children in their bedroom, lying in a pool of blood.

A third child was found alive but severely injured with deep head cuts and bleeding from the ear, while a five-month-old baby was located unharmed on a sofa in the living room.

The injured child was rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the deceased were sent to the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

“Postmortem examinations confirmed that the victims died as a result of severe head injuries caused by assault,” COP Donkor disclosed.

Investigations identified Amoah, who was in a romantic relationship with Ms Hagan, as the prime suspect. According to police, their relationship had broken down over financial disputes, which eventually led to the fatal attack.

“In a fit of rage, the suspect attacked Alberta and the two children who witnessed the incident,” COP Donkor revealed.

Amoah fled the scene and evaded arrest for more than a year. However, after months of intelligence-led operations, police arrested him on September 17, 2025, at Suhum in the Eastern Region.

During interrogation, Amoah confessed to the killings and expressed remorse. He is currently in custody, assisting with investigations, and will soon face charges including murder.

“The Ghana Police Service assures the public that this case is being handled with urgency and professionalism to ensure justice for the victims and their families,” COP Donkor added.

The mother and her two children were buried on June 22, 2024.
