Management of Kumasi-based Ashh FM has indefinitely suspended a presenter who disappeared for one month.

The decision was taken pending a final report by police who are already investigating his supposed disappearance.

Daasebre Adjei Dwamena resurfaced over the week-end after being declared missing since Election Day on December 7, 2016.

He claims to have gone on a spiritual mission to pray for President Nana Akufo-Addo.

His explanation however, has angered bankroller of KenCity Media, operators of Ashh FM, Kennedy Agyapong, who cites the presenter for breach of engagement.

Nhyira FM sources say Mr. Agyapong ordered the station’s General Manager, Armstrong Esaah, to terminate Mr. Dwamena’s  appointment on Monday.

Mr. Dwamena went missing from his Bekwai- base where he had gone to observe the December 7 polls for his station.

Family of the embattled journalist had accused Mr. Kennedy Agyapong of doing little in effort to find their supposed missing relative, though the matter had been reported to police for investigations.

Mr. Agyapong who issued the sack order on  Hello FM, another local radio station in Kumasi is unenthused about the conduct of the presenter.

“He [Daasebre] can go to hell,” he said in the interview.

But less than 24-hours after Mr. Agyappong’s public outburst, Chief Executive of KenCity Media, Stella Wilson-Agyapong in a statement announced the indefinite suspension of Mr. Dwamena, describing the story behind his disappearance as “untenable and unacceptable”.

There have been public calls for criminal sanctions against the embattled presenter.

“I feel he should not be left unpunished. He should be suspended to serve as deterrent to others,” one woman told Nhyira News.

For some, they want police extend invitation to the embattled presenter while they investigate the matter thoroughly.

“It is not normal for you to go out there for a whole month for you to come back and tell us you went for prayers. This is incredible. I believe the police will invite him,” a troubled man has said.

Police however say they cannot prefer any charge against Mr. Dwamena.

Public Relations Officer, ASP Yussif Mohammed Tanko who described the presenter’s account as ‘unbelievable’ says police are still investigating the matter.

“The story he came back with, is very interesting and unbelievable. I think that notwithstanding, we will take it like that.  But we have not concluded investigations into the matter”.

That notwithstanding, police cannot charge the embattled presenter.

“There’s nowhere reported that he was missing and also he didn’t call us from nowhere that someone had kidnapped him. He’s still assisting us in investigations and there are certain checks that we need to make and we are following up on those,” ASP Yussif Tanko revealed.
