A Child Rights Advocate at Child Online Africa, Isaac Apenteng, is calling for justice for a young girl allegedly defiled by her biological father, a police inspector, who reportedly infected her with HIV.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News, Mr. Apenteng called for thorough investigations into the matter and urged authorities to prioritise justice and protection for the victim.

The disturbing allegations emerged after the child’s mother disclosed on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme that the abuse allegedly began when the girl went to stay with her father in Garu after years of not knowing him.

According to the mother, the father allegedly forced himself on the girl during her first stay with him.

She said the child later underwent medical examination at an undisclosed hospital, where she was diagnosed with HIV.

The heartbroken mother stated that her daughter assured her she had never had any sexual encounter with any other man apart from the alleged abuse involving her father.

She further alleged that after a teacher became concerned about the child’s condition and attempted to help, the father took the girl to a hospital and instructed her to accuse the teacher instead.

According to the victim, after she disclosed that it was her father who allegedly abused her, he stopped taking her for treatment.

The victim also claimed that when she sought help from others, some people branded her a “bad child” instead of supporting her.

Meanwhile, the victim’s mother explained that it was the teacher who first intervened after noticing the child needed urgent help and later contacted her.

She said the matter was subsequently reported to the police at Agona Gyamase, after which the child was taken to hospital for examination.
