The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has thrown its full support behind the Black Queens ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), urging the team to make Ghana proud on the continental stage.
In a goodwill message dated July 26, 2026, the Ministry commended the Black Queens for their dedication, resilience and achievements over the years, describing them as a source of inspiration for Ghanaians.
The Ministry highlighted the team’s impressive record in the competition, particularly their bronze medal finish at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, saying it reflects their skill, passion and commitment to excellence.
“Your storied history in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations reflects your dedication, skill, and passion. With a bronze medal in 2025, you have consistently demonstrated that you are the true pride of Africa, inspiring us all with your unwavering spirit on the field,” the statement said.
It further assured the team that millions of Ghanaians and football fans across the continent are firmly behind them as they prepare for the tournament.
The Ministry also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the national women’s team throughout their campaign.
“Millions of fans back home in Ghana and across the continent stand firmly behind you, cheering every move you make. The Government and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation are immensely proud to support you as you prepare to shine on the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations stage,” it stated.
The message concluded with a rallying call for all Ghanaians to unite behind the Black Queens as they seek success at the tournament.
“Let’s rally behind our Queens and show them the full support of Ghana! Together, we believe in you. Go Queens and make Ghana proud!” the Ministry urged.
