The Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADeF) has intensified efforts to improve infrastructure at the Adrobaa Technical Institute in the Ahafo Region to strengthen teaching and learning.

The projects form part of the foundation’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure and improving conditions for students and staff in mining communities.

Speaking to Adom News during a project inspection tour at Adrobaa, Terchire, Susuanso, and Yamfo, the Kyidomhene of Adrobaa, Nana Addo Boamah, commended the foundation for undertaking key projects at the school.

According to him, the poor state of infrastructure at the institute had become an eyesore, making NADeF’s intervention timely and necessary.

He disclosed that the projects include the construction of a two-storey dormitory block, the renovation of a four-unit classroom block, and the construction of a six-seater lavatory facility.

“The state of the school is very poor and an eyesore, so for the foundation to begin the construction of a two-storey dormitory block, the renovation of a four-unit classroom block, and the construction of a six-seater lavatory is a good step for the school,” he stated.

Nana Addo Boamah expressed optimism that the projects would significantly improve teaching and learning once completed and handed over to school authorities.

He added that the chiefs and people of the area hold the school in high regard and regularly visit project sites to ensure contractors deliver quality work.

Meanwhile, a provision shop owner, Agnes Anaa, who has also benefited from financial support from the foundation, praised NADeF for positively impacting her livelihood.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News, she said the support and business education provided by the foundation had helped her expand her business and improve her living conditions.

According to her, the intervention has contributed greatly to reducing economic hardship in the area.

She, however, appealed to the foundation to intensify its support programmes to help address unemployment among the youth in the community.
