Businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye has offered GH¢2 million to settle his divorce dispute with his former wife, Joana Quaye, in an effort to bring an end to the ongoing legal battle between the two parties.

According to a letter from his lawyers, Sory & Partners @ Law, addressed to Dame & Partners, legal representatives of Joana Quaye, the settlement proposal is aimed at restoring peace and safeguarding the wellbeing of their children and families.

The letter, dated May 7, 2026, noted that although the High Court had awarded GH¢300,000 as alimony, Mr. Quaye was prepared to significantly increase the amount in order to resolve the matter amicably and out of court.

His legal team explained that the offer was made without prejudice and formed part of efforts to settle all outstanding disputes between the former couple.

The divorce case has continued to attract public attention, particularly following concerns raised about how the matter was handled by the trial court.

Earlier, Joana Quaye petitioned the Chief Justice and the Judicial Council over the conduct of Justice Justin Dorgu, who presided over the case.

According to the petition, the judge delivered final orders on January 20, 2026, but the detailed written judgment was not released until April 20, 2026.

Her lawyers argued that the delay occurred after the legal deadline for filing an appeal had elapsed, making it difficult for their client to properly study and challenge the ruling.

The petition also called for investigations into possible procedural breaches and questioned whether the handling of the judgment met acceptable standards of fairness.

The case has drawn significant public interest due to disputes over alimony, child custody, and property division.
