Member of Parliament for Abetifi Constituency and a Minister of State at the Presidency, Bryan Acheampong has indicated that, government is mobbing up strategies to ruthlessly deal with the Fulani menace around the Kwahu area and Ghana at large.

According to him, most settlers and families have been rendered homeless while hectors of farms and other investment in the farming communities have been wasted as a result of the Fulani menace in the Kwahu area.

He said, government is much concerned about the lives of citizens in the farming communities and their farm produce hence will protect all farmers.

Mr Bryan Acheampong disclosed that, government policy of planting for food and jobs will be stalled in the Kwahu area if they do not deal with the Fulani menace.

He made the assurance when he presented five tractors, fertilizers, Wallenstein booth, spraying machines, insecticides and other farming inputs and equipments for farmers at a ceremony held in Abetifi.

Mr Acheampong hinted that, government has already secured over 600 hectors of land in the Kwahu Abetifi area for the planting for food policy which aims at commercializing farming.

According to him, he has also decided to support peasant farmers in the Abetifi constituency who have small acres of land and may not be able to benefit from the planting for the food project.

He said the constituency has been zoned into to five areas where the tractors will be operating.

According to him, one of the tractors will be stationed at Beposo, another at Tafo/Ankomah/Miaso/Oframase zone, the third will be at Akwasihu/Simpoa, the fourth at Abene/Dwrebiase zone while the fifth will be stationed at Tafo/Suminakese zone to help clear farmlands of peasant farmers.

Hon Bryan Acheampong was hopeful the tractors will help farmers to plough their farmlands in time and accelerate their work.

He indicated that, he will facilitate the establishment of the biggest poultry farm in Ghana at Abetifi to help create jobs for the people of Kwahu.

The legislator was optimistic that, a canned tomatoes and tiger nut factory will also be established latest by next year in the Abetifi constituency.

Abetifihene, Acheamfour Asiedu Agyemang III was overwhelmed by the MPs veal to develop the Abetifi constituency.

He however pledged to release hectors of lands to anyone or group who wants to go into agriculture.
