A man, believed to be in his 30s, has committed a cruel crime by butchering a mother and daughter to death, following a misunderstanding over charcoal.

The suspect, identified as Nurudeen Musah, reportedly, committed the crime at Sapoa near Abenoa in the Sekyere Afram Plains District last Tuesday.

After ending the lives of the mother and daughter in that bloody manner, Musah then went into hiding to avert being arrested to face the law.

However, luck eluded him as he was apprehended from his hideout by the police. He is currently in police grips assisting in investigations.

Sources say the murdered woman deals in charcoal, a business she had been doing for many years, to help support her husband to cater for the family.

The woman, (name not known) recently engaged the services Musah and paid him an undisclosed amount of money to burn bags of charcoal for her.

The woman waited for several days yet Musah could not produce the burnt charcoal as promised so she became suspicious.

On Tuesday, the woman confronted Musah to produce her burnt charcoal and the suspect told her to accompany him to Sapoa near Abenoa for the charcoal.

The woman, accompanied by her 15-year-old daughter, therefore followed Musah to Sapoa but upon arrival, there was no burnt charcoal as Musah promised.

A verbal altercation ensued between the woman and Musah and in the course of the verbal exchanges; Musah lost his temper and butchered the woman.

After realizing that her mother had been butchered, the 15-year-old girl tried to escape but couldn’t run far as Musah butchered her also.

Musah then went into hiding but he was arrested later by the police.

Reports indicate that the murder of the mother and daughter by Musah has sparked tension among residents in the Sekyere Afram Plains area.
