Ghanaian Highlife musician, Kuami Eugene, says it was all planned out when he said his Zara shoes cost him $700 in an interview.

Earlier, the ‘Angela’ hitmaker in an interview with Nkonkonsa.com bragged that his Zara shoes cost him $700, which is equivalent to about GH¢ 3,808.00.

However, some social media users who felt Kuami was lying took to the digital platform to display the original price on Zara’s shopping website, which had it on sale for about $45.

Reacting to this on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM on Friday, Kuami Eugene said the interview was mandated to create a buzz.

“We planned everything at backstage. I wasn’t supposed to say the actual price otherwise I won’t trend. I knew checking the price of Zara was only a text away,” he said.

According to Kuami Eugene, though he has many positive news surrounding his career, he knew the media always want the negative.

“People knew I was making fun but it seemed like an opportunity to go against the young boy. They were thinking now we have evidence let’s say he did this.

“My ‘Hero Concert’ was packed but I didn’t see it on social media like my shoe. Rex Omar sang my ‘Angela’ song and I posted it on my page thinking bloggers will pick it up nobody did this good news. The shoe video rather got me trending. I was everywhere all at once and people were teasing me,” he told Merqury Quaye.

He is currently promoting his new song dubbed ‘Obiaato.’
