Ghanaian sprinters Joseph Paul Amoah and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu failed to secure podium finishes in the men’s 100m final at the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championships.
Amoah finished fourth in the final, while Saminu placed sixth after both athletes progressed from the semifinals earlier on Wednesday at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Saminu was the first Ghanaian to qualify for the final after winning Heat 2 of the semifinals on the second day of competition.
Amoah also impressed in Heat 3, where he finished second to book his place in the final.
Despite their strong performances in the semifinals, the duo could not replicate the same form in the final as they missed out on medals.
Both athletes are now expected to shift focus to other events scheduled for the remaining days of the championships.
