Ipswich Town have condemned the racist abuse directed at Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu on social media following Saturday’s 1-0 Premier League defeat by Everton.
The 22-year-old was shown a second yellow card for simulation during the match as Ipswich slipped to a narrow home defeat.
In a statement, the club said it was aware of the abuse and was working with the relevant authorities to investigate the incident.
“The club finds any form of discriminatory behaviour completely unacceptable and has no place in football.
“We are investigating this incident alongside the Premier League and the relevant authorities.
“We will continue to offer Abdul our full support.”
Fatawu joined Ipswich from Leicester City during the summer transfer window.
