Ghanaian music duo DopeNation say they are overwhelmed by the global success of their hit song ‘Kakalika’, following viral videos of top footballers using the song during celebrations after major matches.
Speaking on the growing recognition of the song on Adom News, the duo revealed that their music journey has been filled with challenges despite years of hard work and consistency.
“Honestly, this is overwhelming. We have constantly been at this, from making music to projecting it to the world in our own way ever since we decided to take this as a career,” the group stated.
According to them, the support from fans, family and friends has played a major role in keeping them motivated to continue producing hit songs and promoting Ghanaian music globally.
DopeNation also credited social media content creators and dance challenges for helping push the song to international audiences, especially the popular “Swengi Mame” trend which gained global attention online.
“So it’s really overwhelming to see top footballers dance to Kakalika anytime they celebrate,” they added.
The duo noted that the global recognition of the song reflects their resilience and determination to make an impact despite criticism and setbacks in the industry.
They further disclosed plans for a Europe tour beginning later this month through July, before continuing to the United States and parts of Australia in August.
Describing the period as a “Kakalika summer,” the duo expressed gratitude to supporters and media platforms including Adom FM and Adom TV for promoting their music.
