Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has called on Ghanaians to support the government’s Big Push infrastructure initiative, describing it as a national development agenda aimed at addressing the country’s infrastructure deficit rather than a politically motivated programme.
Speaking during a road inspection tour on May 13, 2026, the Minister said the projects being executed under the initiative are critical to improving connectivity, boosting economic growth and enhancing the lives of citizens across the country.
According to him, the government remains committed to accelerating the delivery of major road projects despite prevailing economic challenges.
“These are not politically motivated projects. They are projects we were supposed to do yesterday. We are even late in doing so, so we need to do it to help the people of this country,” he stated.
Kwame Governs Agbodza also commended contractors working on various projects for their dedication and commitment to meeting project deadlines.
“Everywhere we went, you saw the determination of the contractors. So, the Big Push will be delivered,” he added.
The Roads Minister further pointed to the government’s ability to settle payments owed to contractors without resorting to additional borrowing as evidence of its commitment to sustaining infrastructure development.
According to him, significant payments owed to contractors have already been made, helping to restore confidence in the execution of ongoing projects across the country.
He therefore urged contractors, consultants and the general public to support the initiative to ensure the successful completion of road infrastructure projects nationwide.
