GNFS rescues trapped driver after trailer accident at Water Falls Junction

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued a driver who was trapped inside a trailer following an accident at Water Falls Junction along the Kintampo–Tamale Highway.

The incident occurred after a Shacman trailer with registration number GC 3825-19, loaded with packs of bottled drinks, was involved in an accident while travelling from Kumasi to Buipe.

The GNFS said a distress call was received by the Municipal Commander, DOII Twum Prempeh Dominic, at about 4:36 p.m., prompting the deployment of a rescue team to the scene.

The team, operating with DPT No. FS 498 and led by Assistant Station Officer Agyekum Emmanuel, arrived at Water Falls Junction at about 4:46 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the driver trapped inside the vehicle and immediately began efforts to free him.

After a successful rescue operation, the driver was extricated from the wreckage and transported to a hospital for medical attention.

The firefighters subsequently secured the accident scene to prevent further danger before returning to the station at about 6:27 p.m., having completed the rescue operation.

The GNFS did not provide further details on the condition of the driver or the circumstances that led to the accident.
