Over 300 mothers have benefited from a Mother’s Day outreach organised by the Kumasi units of the Multimedia Group – Luv FM and Nhyira FM – in partnership with Living Waters Assemblies of God Church at Ayigya in Kumasi.

The two-day programme, held at the church premises on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, 2026, featured free breast cancer and eye screening, feeding, giveaways and empowerment sessions aimed at promoting the health and wellbeing of women.

Before the main event, a week-long panel discussion was held from Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8 at the studios of Luv FM.

Hosted by David Akuetteh, the discussions brought together resource persons to educate and inspire listeners on issues affecting women, families and society.

Dr. Mrs. Georgina Adu Gyamfi spoke on balancing faith, family and personal wellbeing, while Mrs. Juliet Dbedema discussed sexual abuse prevention among children and the youth. Mrs. Linda Asare Bediako and Mrs. Esi Brown also educated listeners on enterprise development, focusing on how to start and grow businesses successfully.

Discussions on women and personal development were led by Dr. Mrs. Yaa Asantewaa Osei and Prof. Mrs. Linda Batsa Debrah, while Mrs. Joyce Owusu-Dabo spoke on personality profiling of a prominent woman in the church.

The outreach continued on Saturday morning with free breast cancer and eye screening exercises for mothers at the church premises. The screening, which started at 9:00 am and ended at 12:00 pm, was undertaken by Peace and Love Hospital and Enhance Vision Optical.

Hundreds of women took part in the exercise, with many expressing appreciation for the opportunity to access free healthcare services.

On Sunday, the celebration continued with volunteers preparing meals to feed more than 300 mothers. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the women shared meals and received giveaways.

Speaking on the initiative, Events and Promotions Head at Luv FM and Nhyira FM, Eric Inkoom, said the organisation decided to expand its annual Mother’s Day activities to impact more lives within the community.

“We at Multimedia feel mothers have done a lot. We can’t feed all of them but it was a target to feed over 300 and that was achieved. The mothers that came through were so excited,” he said.

According to him, the outreach evolved from Multimedia’s long-running “Cook for Your Mom” initiative, which previously focused on a smaller number of mothers.

“We’ve been doing events on Mother’s Day but we decided to expand our tentacles by not just targeting 10 mothers. It has always been a ‘Cook for Your Mom’ concept targeting 10 mothers. We felt we could do more by partnering a church,” he added.

He further disclosed that Luv FM and Nhyira FM hope to make the programme even bigger in 2027 by increasing the target to 500 mothers.

The programme was supported by sponsors including Onga and Pomo Tomato Paste, whose contributions helped make the event a success.
