Yussif Basigi, head coach of senior female national team the Black Queens says his side gave their all in their quest to reach the finals of the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations but failed to reach the pinnacle.

The Queens lost 0-1 to hosts Cameroon in the semi-final from midfielder Raissa Feudjio’s goal in the 71st minute.

It was the second time Cameroon had edged Ghana out at this stage of the women’s championship.

The Queens were seeking to reach their first final since 2006 where they lost to current champions, Nigeria.

”The girls were mentally tough, self-motivated, both extrinsically and intrinsically but, it was sad we could not win. All the same, I am happy with the team’s effort in reaching the semi-final,” Basigi said.
