Ghana High Commissioner to Spain, Mrs Elizabeth Adjei has refuted claims of extortion and inhumane treatment by Ghanaians in Spain which fueled calls for her removal by President Nana Akufo-Addo.
According to Mrs Agyei, the allegations of her not being supportive to Ghanaians in the diaspora are false because her doors are always open to residents.
“Ghanaians living in Spain must quit spreading rumours and rather approach the Embassy with their issues because if you are a Ghanaian living in Spain and you have a problem, you just have to walk to my office and I will help you,” she said in an interview with Adom TV’s Tima Kumkum during the vis-à-vis 2019 festival.
She commended Kyekyeku and Ghanalogue and the FRA Highlife bands for their thrilling performance at the 2019 Casa Africa Vis-a-Vis festivals in Spain as well as the Ghana Creative Arts Council for their support.
“Their performance was a good opportunity for Ghana to depict our highlife stance and I will advise bands to build themselves up to get the opportunity to participate in the next edition of the Vis-à-vis festival.”
“The Spanish Producers that came to Ghana for the selection of the bands were overwhelmed with the choices they made to represent Ghana because they are passionate about arts and culture and that is why they have embraced the Ghanaian arts into their space.”
