About 81 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) have been cited for causing financial loss to the State after they failed to account for forms sold to caterers under the School Feeding Programme.

The 2018 Auditor- General’s report revealed that, the MMDAs declared only GH¢194,383.00 from an amount of GH¢1.09 million purportedly realised from the sale of 21,880 application forms sold to caterers who applied for contracts.

The report added that as much as GH¢899,617 from the sale of application forms is unaccounted for and has been outstanding since 2017.

The Auditor- General’s report also singled out the Sekyere East District for particularly tampering with enrollment figures and manipulation of data.

Deputy Auditor-General, George Winful on Fabewoso, the anti-corruption show on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme, Monday, blamed management of the School Feeding Programme for the rot.

He indicated that, they failed in their oversight responsibility to ensure the retrieval of all monies realised from the sale of the forms by the MMDAs.

Mr Winful revealed that, bloated enrollment figures, duplication of schools and payments of grants to non-existent caterers in the 2017-2018 academic year, as well as under-declaration of revenue from sale of application forms accounted for the huge losses running into millions of cedis.
