It has emerged that twenty-four individuals who are all members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are set to contest for Mr Kyeremateng Agyarko’s seat at Ayawaso West Wuguon constituency following his demise.

A deputy general secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen, has disclosed.

According to him, the leadership of the party is determined to do what is right and in the interest of the party to ensure that it recaptures the seat.

He added that 24 contestant have so far expressed interest.

“So far we have 24 people showing up to contest for the seat; we believe in the interest of our members and so we would want to allow anyone who has interest to go ahead and not be selective” he said on Accra based Okay FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

 There has been pressure mounting on the National Executives of the party to allow particular candidates to stand in the upcoming by-elections.

Supporters of the two wives of the late MP. about a fortnight ago, massed up at the party headquarters demanding that their preferred choice be allowed to run on the party’s ticket.

However the second wife, Lydia Alhassan subsequently denied reports that she was interested in her late husband’s seat.

But to lawyer Obiri Boahen, the NPP will not succumb to pressure irrespective of where it may be coming from.
