The National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Hamidu Akamba, is certain of a landslide victory for the party in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections.
Mr Akamba insists the constituency is not an asset to be inherited by the “concubine” of the late Member of Parliament for the area, Emmanuel Kyerematen Agyarko.
On Thursday, January 31, 2019, the Electoral Commission will hold the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency by-election.
The seat became vacant following the death of the NPP Member of Parliament for the constituency, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko, who died in November last year and was buried last Saturday at Odumase-Krobo, his hometown.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), NDC, Progressive People’s Party (PPP) as well as the Liberal Party of Ghana have all put up candidates for the seat.

But few hours to the elections, the contest seems to have been reduced to a two-horse race as candidates of the NPP, Lydia Alhassan and NDC’s Delali Brempong embarked on a house-to-house campaign to canvass for votes.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Joshua Akamba said the election was cool chop for the NDC.
He noted that constituents who are tired of the NPP’s incompetence were ready to boot them out.
The NDC National Organiser also accused the NPP of vote-buying knowing too well that they had lost the by-elections in advance.
According to him, roads are being tarred, street lights being fixed and even gutters are being desilted as a ploy to woo constituents to vote for the party’s Parliamentary candidate.
Joshua Akamba urged the residents not to be swayed by the NPP’s communist inferior tactics and vote massively for the NDC.
