The Minister of Transport, Kwaku Asiamah, has said Ayalolo buses will, by next week, begin operation on the Takoradi and Tamale roads respectively.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr Asiamah the roll-out forms part of plans to extend the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system to other cities in the country.

“After a successful training in Takoradi and Tamale, the buses will start operations next week,” he said.

He added that measures have also been put in place for the grounded Ayalolo buses to hit the road soon.

The Ayalolo buses have packed at its Achimota and Ofankor terminals for some months now over what management has said are operational challenges.

“We also needed parking space and we now have a completed one at the Tudu terminal,” the Minister said in relation to the grounding of the buses, lauding the KMA for their hard work in building a terminal at the Garden City.

 “KMA has done a very good job in Kumasi and I applaud them for that because it will pave the way for the operations to commence,” he added.
