The family of the late Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu is demanding the immediate arrest and interrogation of the widow of the Member of Parliament (MP).

A brother of the late MP who was stabbed to death in his home at the Accra suburb of Shiashie said they are demanding the immediate arrest of Mrs Ivy Danquah-Adu whom they believe can offer more leads that would help unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the businessman and MP.

“I am emphasizing that the wife (Ivy Danquah-Adu) should be arrested immediately…she would tell the actual truth behind the murder, the family knows that she knows something about the death…,” he said on Adom FM’s Midday News on Wednesday, 10th May, 2017.

The Abuakwa North legislator was stabbed to death on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at his Shiashie residence in Accra.

Two days after his murder, then Accra Regional Police Command, led by COP Dr George A. Dampare, led an operation to arrest a suspect who allegedly confessed to committing the crime.

The prime suspect, Daniel Asiedu and another is currently facing trial before an Accra Magistrate court in the case that has been ongoing for over 9 months.

An Accra High Court has set 16th May, 2017 for selection of jurors for the trial of Daniel Asiedu and Vincent Bossu, the two accused of murdering the Abuakwa North MP.

The suspects have denied murdering the late legislator.

But the family insist that the wife must be arrested because she has information to offer the police which would lead to the speedy trial of the case.

The family, Kwasi Frimpong said could not fathom why the wife who slept in the same house with the late met would claim that she does not know ‘anything about the murder’.

“She lived with the late wife in the same house…is the wife claiming that she didn’t hear JB screaming for help when he was attacked and stabbed to death?,” he said.

This and many more questions including the failure of the wife to attend the funeral of the late MP in his hometown, Akyem Tafo to mourn the late husband has led to a decision by the family not to allow her to perform the traditional rites which would lead to the family regarding as a widow of the late MP.

“We didn’t allow the wife to perform the traditional widowhood rites because she never came here, Akyem Tafo, to mourn the late husband when he was laid in state. Therefore we don’t see the logic behind she coming to the one year celebration to demand that she be allowed to perform the traditional rites that would make her a widow,” he said.

The ban, he stated has nothing to do with a possible fight over properties of the late MP as the wife and children are entitled to them.

The police service, he said must also reconsider the invitation of former Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, ASP Dampare back into the case since he arrested the suspects.

Akyem Tafo chief, Barima Ofori Acheampong is also collecting signatures to register the grief in the town over the murder of the prominent indigene of the town.

  1. How can you possibly accuse the wife of killing the husband whom she has two kids with, Ghanaians like that, family members like that if not his properties what again, you preventing her to come for the 1year what will you get, allow God to judge her not you the family. Ayem and Akuapim people that too much. Nonsense madam stop crying God is the husband of widow. If only you know your hands are clean stop crying and do not stop prayers

    • Ama Esoun that is normal investigative practice where the first suspect is the one who was around when the accident occurred. This is more so when the death occurred in the house and the wife was there. It beats my mind that the wife has never be questioned and her answers satisfied. This also goes to the killing of one bank Manager last year in his house when the wife for strange reason came to sleep in the living room.

    • But if she didn’t go for the funeral then what does she want to go and do at the one year celebration? How can you not join other family members to bury your own husband, a man you have two kids with like you said. Seriously just have a rethink about this… Something is fishy

  2. Ama Esoun please stop being personal and deal with the real and legal issues raised by the family. 1. they seeking the declaration that the wife clear herself from the allegation that a husband that she stays thesame house with, scream and struggle with his killer(s) but she never knew what was going on in the house at the death moment. 2. At the point of laying the husband to death Madam Ivy never attended the burial service but turn to appear at the one year celebration.
Please Ama, think of these serious issues raised and stop blaming the family of the desire for worldly benefits – property sharing.

    • Because the family told her that they would not be able to provide any form of protection for herself and her two daughters as the whole town believed she had killed her husband.

  3. Then again they can only exhibit such ignorance on a radio station. If they think they have a strong case, why not walk straight to a police station so you can be called to explain the basis of the accusation.
Sad how these elders always think they know so much.

  4. WE HAVE NUMEROUS MEN OF GOD IN THE COUNTRY SO WHY CAN’T THEY FAST, GO ON THEIR KNEES , PRAY AND COME OUT WITH THE WRONG DOERS IN A SITUATIONS LIKE THIS.

  5. The brother of the late MP is either bring emotional or irrational.
Who appointed him Judge a nd prosecutor.
The family should keep their widowhood rites.if I were the wife I would ignore their foolishness and feed and focus on rebuilding my life.
    Mstcheew!!!

  6. Nonsensical nonsense ! Is it compulsory to hear a scream? Who even says he was there to prove he heard JB scream for help?People think and talk as if they don’t know assassins are professionals.Leave the lady alone.

  7. Shame onto this “enlightened”
So called educated family. Desecrating their brother’s name and memory like this. In a separate room with her two daughters how was one to hear so called screaming and if there was screaming why didn’t the children too wake up? Please if you want to lash out in your grief, pick up boxing gloves and head to the gym because throwing stupid accusations around because you can’t stand this lady is gravely embarrassing for your family. So called educated men in high rankings, shame onto you!! Go and pay your dead brother’s children’s school fees and hospital bills with your plenty money if you really cared about him.
And what widowhood rites??? I beg the lady is an Anglican and doesn’t need any bush and primitive rites to be performed on her ok.
These things just piss me off!!!!

  8. If she wasn’t at the funeral then which picture is shown above.Thought some of ussaw her on tv during the funeral which was held in Accra.or am wrong?

God the is giver and the taker don’t worry , continue with your good deeds

    • Oh really? Shouldn’t the police be coming for you? Were you there? How do you know there was screaming?
And if anyone heard screaming and claimed there was screaming why didn’t that person go help? Abufusem!!! Awarebone emu nkwaseasem!!! Mtcheeeew poor lady. It’s obvious the family just hate the fact that she is waaaay more polished than all of them put together. These so called brothers in the family have always envied JB and hated his wife because he was the nicest one, people loved him everywhere he went and his wife is the most beautiful and most educated of all their wives. Shame on them!!! Mtchewwww

  11. That’s not accurate information. The wife was at the funeral at Akim Old Tafo. I saw her at the park the funeral was held so saying she was not there is not even a true statement. Unless the family were not accommodating but still doesn’t mean she wasn’t there because she was, with the kids. I saw them. Kwaku Nti do your research well Mr friend…I know you to report accurate information and this man’s claim is false. The wife is not my friend or anything but I was there front row and I saw her and the kids..

  12. I don’t understand something here , (1) who came out with such information that JB was screaming when he was attacked by the robbers or killers ?

    (2) the person who came out with such info did the police invite him/her for questions about how he or she got to know JB was screaming at the point of attack by the killers?

(3)if the the wife is to be arrested immediately i want to know if the same thing is going to be applied on the children as well……because they all leave in the same house .

Some times we Ghanaians quickly judge and jump into conclusion.

The family need to do thier inverstigations very well and stop harassing the poor widow .
