A new fire station is set to be constructed in Tatale in the Northern Region following a sod-cutting ceremony aimed at strengthening emergency response and public safety in the area.

The project, undertaken by government in collaboration with the Tatale-Sanguli District Assembly, is expected to help address rising fire incidents and reduce response times in the district.

The ceremony was attended by the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. John Ali Adolf, the Member of Parliament for Tatale-Sanguli, Hon. Ntebe Ayoo Williams, and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Mary Tagba.

Also present were traditional leaders and officers of the Ghana National Fire Service, led by the Northern Regional Fire Commander, ACFO I Joseph Koranteng.

Speaking at the event, the DCE highlighted the increasing fire outbreaks in the area and the challenges posed by delayed emergency response due to the absence of a local fire station.

The Regional Minister noted that the project forms part of efforts to decentralise emergency services and improve safety across communities, urging residents to support fire officers and adhere to safety practices.

The Member of Parliament, on his part, said the construction of the facility would not only enhance safety but also create employment opportunities for the local population, stressing the need for quality and timely completion of the project.

Traditional authorities also pledged land and community support to ensure the successful execution of the project.

When completed, the fire station is expected to house personnel and equipment of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), significantly reduce response times, and support public education on fire prevention in the district.
