Director of Communications for the United Party, Solomon Owusu, has rejected diplomatic approaches to addressing xenophobic attacks in South Africa, arguing that such efforts have been ineffective over the years.

Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show, he said he does not support diplomatic solutions, insisting they have failed to curb the recurring violence.

According to him, xenophobic attacks in South Africa date back to 1994 and have continued almost every year, making the situation appear cyclical.

He expressed concern that despite repeated discussions and diplomatic engagements, the attacks persist, putting the lives and livelihoods of other Africans at risk.

Solomon Owusu argued that relying solely on diplomacy has not yielded results, adding that stronger and more decisive measures may be needed to address the issue.
