The governing board of Ghana Gas Company Limited, led by Chairman Kofi Totobi Quakyi, has undertaken a one-day working visit to the Western Region as part of its familiarisation tour.
Held on Thursday, July 18, 2025, the visit was aimed at giving the newly constituted board firsthand insight into the company’s operations and management systems.
The delegation interacted with staff at the Takoradi office, where discussions centred on key policy resets and operational challenges. The board later paid a courtesy call on the President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, at Essikadu, to discuss issues affecting regional development.
During a stop at the Takoradi Distribution Station, workers raised concerns about logistical setbacks and welfare challenges experienced under the previous administration.
The visit ended with a strategic meeting with managers of the Karpower Ship, which currently receives 80 to 90 million standard cubic feet of gas daily from Ghana Gas to power its 470MW vessel—contributing approximately 23% to the national electricity grid.
Karpower Ship management commended Ghana Gas for its reliability, while the company’s CEO, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, pledged continued support to ensure consistent power generation nationwide.
Board members expressed optimism about streamlining operations and enhancing staff welfare to reposition the company for improved efficiency.
