File photo: Armed robber

Eastern Regional Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dallas Ampomah Williams, has narrated how he, together with his newly-wedded wife and cousin, escaped from armed men on the Accra-Cape Coast highway.

Dallas Ampomah and his family were traveling along the Cape Coast-Accra Highway when they came face-to-face with armed robbers at about 6:30 pm at Gomoa Potsin.

Explaining the circumstances of what happened on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Friday, Dallas said the robbers shot at his vehicle when he attempted escaping from the scene on seeing that he had arrived at a robbery scene.

“I tried overtaking the cars lined up in front of me, thinking the owners had been arrested by the police only to realise that we were at a robbery scene,” he said.

Dallas said he continued to drive even though there were gunshots being fired at him.

He narrated that when the robbers realised that the gunshots were not being successful, they gave him a chase until he got to Gomoa Potsin where he turned off his car’s engine before taking cover.

Bemoaning the late response of the police force, he said the police got to the scene 10 minutes after the attack.

The attack, he said, had left his family traumatized.
