President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says all State institutions, beginning January 2020, will patronise locally produced rice.
“By January 1, 2020, all State institutions will begin patronising local rice and live on Ghanaian produce,” President Akufo-Addo said.
President Akufo-Addo, in his address to the media during a Meet-the-Press encounter Friday, called on Ghanaians to consume locally produced rice to support local rice farmers.
“We should all eat Ghana rice, we should all eat it in our house. We have to begin doing these things, because that is how we can actively support our farmers,” he said.
He added that efforts were being made by the government to systematically support local rice farmers through the construction of warehouses and the setting up and operation of the Ghana Commodity Exchange.
