Two children who went missing after they were swept away by floods in Tamale have been found dead.
The bodies of the deceased, Sulleman Hamuran, 13 and Hayila Alhassan were found in a town called Fuo in the Tamale metropolis in the Northern region.
The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer ASP Mohammed Yussif Tanko confirmed this to Adom News Wednesday.
He said the 7-year-old girl, a pupil of SDA primary school in Tamale went out of her classroom and urinate when she slipped and fell into a big gutter and was carried away by the flood.
The 13-year-old boy, ASP Tanko explained was on his way home when he was also swept away by the floods.
So far three people are reported dead including a seven-year-old school girl and a woman in her 50s following a heavy downpour Tuesday.
Thousands have been displaced following torrential rains and communities severely affected include Dohinayile, Jakarayili, Fou, Taha, and Sawaba.
Father of the deceased in an interview with Adom News’ Illiasu Abdul Rauf said he least expected the rains to have poured with such intensity over the four-hour duration.
He noted that, they were still searching for his son when they were informed some bodies have been found at Fuo.
“When we rushed to the scene, I saw the lifeless body of my child” he bemoaned.
The distraught father said after police investigations, the body have been released to them for burial.
The body of the 7-year-old girl, ASP Tanko stated has also been handed over to her parents for burial.

Meanwhile, a high-powered government delegation is heading to the Northern regional capital of Tamale, to assess the situation on the ground after a flood that left hundreds of residents homeless.
Deputy Chief of Staff, Samuel Abu Jinapor has said President Nana Akufo-Addo is awaiting their report to enable him to take appropriate action.
